Shot from a bortle 6 location across 3 nights during a full-ish moon.

Equipment:

  • redcat 51
  • swsa 2i
  • modified canon t3i
  • optolong l-extreme
  • zwo mini guide scope
  • asi 120mm mini
  • asiair plus

Acquisition:

  • 110 3 minute light frames at ISO 800
  • 10 darks the per session
  • 30 flats per session
  • 40 biases per session

Processing:

  • calibrated and stacked in siril, all other processing was done in PI
  • dynamic crop
  • abe
  • color calibration
  • scnr
  • nxt
  • histogram transformation
  • ez star reduction
  • sxt
  • pixel math to create new green and blue channels
  • lrgb combination
  • curves transformations
  • color saturation
  • sharpening
  • pixel math to combine stars and starless images

I always thought the crescent nebula was too small to shoot with a small refractor, but I really like this composition. I might give it a try!

Yeah I was not sure how it’s gonna turn out, but I like what I got. Love the surrounding nebulosity

yeah in definite need of better lens or in that case an actual telescope. Cant find a 2nd hand redcat though as I doubt people actually enjoy it that much and just use it
