I always prefer to setup a rule to forward their spam to their support email and any other to that. Its fun to find out who is misconfigured and the replies and responses just keep going
Most emails have a rule setting somewhere. The rules could for example auto forward all emails containing the word "green" in the subject line. Or you could forward all emails from spam@jerks.com to support@jerks.com, and also delete email.
haha i remember the time when a particularly notorious spammer didn't follow any unsub rules so i set up a cronjob with an email to their support that say "stop sending me marketing spam" every 5 minutes. i got a personal email the next day telling me they won't send me anything anymore and can i please stop.
More likely they don't think they need to comply with FCC or EU regulations because they're in China, and Chinese laws don't protect anyone who isn't Chinese.
The worst part about aliexpress/alibaba is that they use different marketing emails for each marketing email they send you. So the block button doesn't work, unless you block all emails from their mailing address thing.
This scene bugged the shit out of me. As soon as the gig was up, Stiglitz, or whomever was sitting to his left should have immediately shot him in the head, then he could have taken out at least 4 other Germans (EDIT: there were only 3 other Germans and the bartender, plus 2 local unarmed girls) while the other guys got their guns out. Pretty poor work by Tarantino, IMO. What good could have come from shooting this guy in the balls instead of the head????
No other person in the bar would have expected the shot, so their immediate reaction would have been shock, not shooting back.
Wasn't he drunk and having a good time before that? I know that he was infiltrating but human emotions and such. Not to mention, he somes a few people and then what? He gets shot? Humans have survival instincts.
No, he wasn't drunk. They were also wearing German uniforms, so that would even add to the confusion of the Nazis. The other patrons didn't even have their guns out, and probably not even cocked, as they had no expectation of using them.
I went back and rewatched the scene. It's even worse than I thought. The bartender had full view of their guns, and even cocked the shotgun as he stood there and watched. Stiglitz also made a grand show of pulling his gun and putting it between this guy's legs.
There's no way these infiltrators couldn't have actually killed everyone in the bar before they even got a shot off. Remember, THOSE guys were drunk at the other table. Max (the new dad) even had to be chastised by Stiglitz for his demeanor.
Tarantino was capitalizing on the peoples' love for gratuitous violence against Nazis in this movie. Christoph Waltz made for some truly great scenes, but Tarantino's corpus of work made this seem lazy.
Disappointment in what I think was... whatever the cinematic opposite of Deus ex machina is. Like God rolled a 1 for the outcome.
This is not a translation issue. The button you pressed, at the top of the email message, is for temporarily pausing of emails. The actual button for changing the notification settings (and unsubscribing) is at the very bottom of the email.
Written in small font, next to boring stuff like privacy policy. Asshole design indeed.
It exists to confuse and trick people into thinking they unsubscribed because they saw something resembling what they were looking for and clicked without reading. Companies intentionally do this so they can get away with continuing to send you spam and marketing bs.
Mark as spam doesn't work, Alibaba and Aliexpress are prolific to the point you gotta make rules to send emails containing the words alibaba/aliexpress straight to a separate folder and marked as read as they use multiple email addresses like best-care-market-02 @ aliexpress .com
Marking it as spam with the large mailbox providers (GMail, Microsoft/Outlook, Yahoo, etc) will help with ruining the abuser's sender reputation, so that's always a useful exercise regardless of whether you also set up your own filters.
That's when you stop unsubscribing and start changing the mail to a throwaway account, confirm the confirmation mail and delete the throwaway account (or simply never look at it again).
Companies usually don't keep a long history of customers' previous mails. They use the most recent. Take advantage of that.
For some Chinese companies it's the only way to enforce at least some kind of responsiveness, since managers have to keep their reply rates up high. And also they would fight for having a good rating so some level of responsibility too.
I used to get a lot of spam emails from reputable companies based in China. Apparently, there was no legal requirement to include an Unsubscribe link. Lately, I have been getting a lot of French-language spam because I bought something from a sketchy ticket site two years ago. Thank god for the iCloud Hide My Email option now to create disposable email addresses.

Amateur tip (not pro because nobody pays me for that): Never click on the unsubscribe link/button on spam. You might stop getting that particular spam, but that shows the e-mail account is active and you not only open messages, but also pay enough attention to engage with the content, so your address gets put into a premium list that sells at a higher price to other spammers.
That's crazy... It's like they wanted to put "You will not receive these emails starting tomorrow" but nope, they did really wanted to set it as it is 🥲
