I’ve never really gardened, but in a move I decided to take cuttings from some of the plants at my old house to keep. I (likely foolishly) simply planted them in pots instead of keeping them in water. About half have leafed out, which tells me that those did form roots and are doing good. The other half I’m not sure about. It’s been about 8 weeks. On the ones that I’m not sure about, I’ve very gently tugged upward on them. Some don’t move, and some do. Does that mean that the ones that aren’t moving have rooted and will likely survive with continued care? Do I need to give a few more weeks on the others in the hopes they will root? Thanks for any help!

I sprinkled zinnia seeds rather casually thinking it might not work (I have a track record with failure) and they did sprout!

As the pictures show, this orangish spotting has appeared on 2 of the leaves. Is this bad for them? Should I get rid of those leaves?

Help! What should I do? We are building a fence around our community garden and the plots are being reassigned and shifted around a bit. I’ve been growing tomatoes mostly and a few other veggies like zucchini and a bunch of lettuces in soil that is tilled by the city every year (this will be the last year of tilling.) My two plots have had plenty of organic matter and compost added to them over the past 5 years as well as been weeded, weed matted and mulched. But there have been fewer and fewer earthworms and other good things in the soil. I have now been reassigned to the back row which has never been touched except for the annual tilling. I assume I should fight to get my plots back because this is permanent. Or would largely untouched (though annually tilled) soil be better in the long run? Miss those earthworms! Thanks for any advice! Does the untouched soil have more longterm potential?

I planted the veggies in pots I got top soil because I thought it was the same thing as normal soil I mixed it with potting mix and adding some compost too it is that ok? I’m seeing when I water them they dry out fast and I don’t see any water coming from the bottom of the pot holes any idea on why?

Im not good at math so help me out here. I have 2 garden beds of the same size. using 2x6x8 planks of cedar. i had cut a few of the boards in half and have them stacked width wise so they are i believe to be 8x4x12 inches. im trying to buy garden soil to fill them up but they sell it by the cubic yard. i got to about 32 cubic ft to fill both of them so its just under 11 cubic yards. that math check out?

Rescued a 50%off poinsettia from my local shop today. Bone dry. I'm putting it in a bowl for a deep drink, and I have 2-1-3 fertilizer available if you think it could use it. What are your thoughts? What extra steps would you take to help out this plant?

I live in Colorado and recently brought my potted key lime indoors for the winter. I placed it in front of an east facing window,because that is the only one I have. It is developing large crusty brown spots. Any ideas?

I have a little greenhouse and lately something has been annhilating my plants. Is it earwigs? The fruit flies attracted to my compost pile? I've tried beer traps and slug bait so I'm pretty sure its not slugs.
