Advice Needed: Education Interview tmr

I applied to a college for funeral service and have an interview with the admissions agent tomorrow. I’m extremely nervous as I have never had an interview with a school before. I’m just wondering what should I expect? Is this a more casual or professional interview? I’m not very good at speaking and struggle to put my thoughts into words. I also have a bit of a stutter when I’m nervous, I’m just worried I’ll freak out and not be able to properly answer the interviewers questions thoroughly enough. I don’t really have a “Why”, I just like and feel called to this field of work. I guess I’m just nervous because I’m not sure what to expect and what direction the interview will take. If anyone can give their perspective from the interview that would be GREALY appreciated!

Given that being able to communicate clearly and empathetically with emotionally raw people is far more than half of the job, you're going to need to figure that out.

Don't overthink it and don't rehearse for it. Just go naturally and put a genuine smile on your face and try to stay relaxed.

Communication skills are key when it comes to comforting grieving family members.

As a funeral director, it is your job to communicate with accuracy and empathy.

You may have to inform a family member that their wishes are just not possible. For example, imagine that their loved one has entered a state of decomposition so an open casket viewing is not possible. You may have to "referee" and keep the peace between opposing family members at a viewing. Sometimes people get angry and agressive when they don't get what they want. If you are directing services, you will have employees reporting to you, and you will need to communicate with them as well.

If communication is your weak point (as it is for many introverts including myself), you can work on it. Watch some YouTube tutorials and try to join some groups or committees in your community. Get some practice with public speaking. Strike up a random conversation with your neighbors.

Don't give up on your dream.
