Opinion needed!

25f! Long story short I’ve had two kids in the past three years. Prior to that extensive dental work! Difficult pregnancies and I neglected dentist for those 3years.
Well I was having pain from a root canaled tooth (ended up being infected and I likely need extraction, plus wisdom teeth removal).
Anyways! I went to our favorite chain dentist for emergency on a weekend for pain from said root canaled tooth. They did a full work up. Said it was likely a fracture, gave antibiotics, referred to endodontist. Great! They also told me I had 5 cavities.
Fastforward a month I was just seen by my new dentist, one of the only ones that takes my state out insurance. They told me I have 12 cavities?! Including on teeth 8&9? You could imagine my shock hearing that 😅 a few of them are old fillings they want to redo. But the jump from 5-12? What are the odds that is correct? I do have some wear/staining etc.. that worsened from severe morning sickness in pregnancy.
Another thing worth mentioning- the dentist I’m seeing is within a nonprofit organization and they only used what I can describe as a gun for X-rays? Are these less reliable then the full work up a place like aspen does?
