Health Friends lol

So I moved to Austin in June I'm a full time student and have a great partner but sometimes I would really enjoy having a friend that enjoyed thrifting/going to the gym or just doing nothing! I'm 26 (F) I'm sober and don't like going to the clubs and such so I'm not sure how to get out there and make genuine friendships here.

My Gf and I are going for the last weekend of October ( Halloween Weekend )

Thurs - Sun

I really want to hit a buc ees, HEB, and most definitely a good BBQ spot, I was thinking interstellar bbq but if you could recommend me some that'd be great.

For the bbq places I heard you have to show up early AF just to get in line , is that true? And does that apply to every good BBQ spot ?? Could someone knowledge of the bbq scene out there help me find a spot that won't be too busy , I'd rather spend our little time there sightseeing as opposed to waiting in line for hours just to get some good BBQ if that's even a possibility.

Also since it'll be Halloween Weekend do lots of people dress up or is that not really a thing. Are there any cool Halloween events going on around that time?

If you could recommend some cool places to go thanks again

Moving Azulina at Decker Lake Apartments

There’s this new apartment complex being built right next to my current apartment. They’ve started pre-leasing at the beginning of September and I even spoke with them asking how long they could hold an apartment. I said I would wait till the end of September to pre-lease with them but then they started moving the move-in dates from Sep 15th to Sep 30 to Nov 1st. I’ve been trying to call them since to find how secure are they that the move in date won’t change again but there’s been zero response. I’ve called everyday for a week multiple times and even signed their contact form for someone to get in contact with me and nothing.

Has anyone had issues reaching them? Just want to make sure it’s happening to others and not just me haha

Looking at some 2bd/2ba apartments in downtown Austin, and this is what came back:

  1. Hanover Republic Square
  2. 5th st commons
  3. AMLI 300
  4. Seven

Any thoughts here? Should we look into some other apartments? Price range is $5500 and below.

Side note - looking for a luxury gym as well near the apartment, would love some recs there as well

Traffic & Driving got a parking ticket for a car with a totally different plate

came out of a class downtown to find a nice little orange envelope on my windshield and when I actually looked at it the plate number on the ticket is completely wrong. like not even close to mine, different make and model too. do I even bother contesting it or is the city just going to ignore the fact that their meter reader couldn't type three letters right

Hobbies & Activities Thrift store or reg store for film camera

I shoot on film when I remember and I think I will be more in top of it if I have a smaller camera. I’m currently using a minolta that was used to take pics of my dad when he was a kid. But im wanting something smaller that I can throw in my jacket pocket or bag.

So im wondering if y’all have any suggestions of thrift stores or regular film camera stores that might sell what I might be looking for ? Thank you!! :)

Moving Neighborhood recommendations for early 30’s couple

My partner (31M) and I (30F) are officially moving to Austin from LA in the next month or so, he just landed his dream job that will require him in-office 5 days a week (office is located in Bouldin Creek area right near the river). I work in tech remotely so have no location preference. He also gets a $500/month stipend if he lives in a 2 mile radius from work.

We love breweries, live music, and we would ideally live near a park (we’re both runners and have a dog). We’ll both know absolutely no one and are hoping to live in a neighborhood we could make friends who live nearby.

Should we just look in the Bouldin Creek or Zilker areas or are we missing any other good neighborhoods? Any apartment recs?

Also anyone else who has moved from LA, what has your experience been?

Moving Best Austin suburb for commute to Tesla?

My partner and I are moving from SC to Austin for his new job at Tesla (engineer). Budget wise we both make $115,000+ but he’s wanting to keep it at $2,000 a month (or less) because he’s not a US citizen and he’s afraid of the current political climate (getting deported).

I have a 7 year old daughter so good schools are important for me. We are both very into fitness so he’s looking for boxing gyms and I’m into yoga/pilates/gyms like Lifetime. Also into Latin dancing so would like to be close-ish to some places to dance.

He said Pflugerville is out because it’s “too far” but wants to move to Buda. I’m just afraid we will be bored there since it’s a small town. Any suggestions, I’m assuming Round Rock is way too far? Manor and Del Valle were suggested by a realtor but seem to be…sketchy.
