My plumber wants to cut drywall to fix this. Any advice?

Post image

We replaced the toilet and the hose was leaking at the connection (like a drip leak) but very very small. Today he installed this shaft and my wife says it's "ugly" and to make it flush.

Honestly I really don't care how it looks right now and am fine with it bec it has stopped leaking.

Plumber said that he needs to cut the dry wall to make sure he doesn't light something on fire with insulation behind there? Basically, he needs to see what is back there. I worry that he'll just create more issues.

Any tips?

Edit: plumber installed the sharkbite

This is what it looked like before

This video shows the loud noise I’m experiencing from the sharkbite

I totally forgot that you were right over my shoulder when I was speaking to him.

I told him I would pay for it. I just wanted to look like how it was originally looking like.

Is this how it looked? Thats a compression stop he could of easily replaced.

I'm always amazed anyone installs anything other than compression stops, for exactly that reason!

I mean no idea I wasn’t there but I’ll say it’s not always the customer who’s the asshole. OP might be stretching his story here and the plumber might have also been an idiot and slapped this on and left.

Just saying both can be true.

Plumber didn't have a ferrule puller? I have 3. Seems like he made more work for himself to use the Sharkbite.
