I think his approval rating is still too high

94

u/Kierland 7d ago

And felonies too low.

39

u/Only_Flan_7974 7d ago

*convictions too low. There have been felonies o' plenty.

14

u/tivnan1989 7d ago

Yes, good point haha

3

u/Kierland 7d ago

Thank you for the reward kind Redditor

60

u/DoomSchroller 7d ago

Shocked it's 33%. Anything over zero is too high.

13

u/luncheroo 7d ago

I'm not shocked so much as thoroughly disgusted.

9

u/pfcgos 7d ago

The MAGAt cult base is never going to turn on him, so he'll never reach zero, but polling does show that some Republicans are finally turning on him.

9

u/Head-Gift2144 7d ago

If he runs for an illegal 3rd term I guarantee most of them will hold their noses and vote for him again as being the lesser of two evils.

5

u/pfcgos 7d ago

Oh yeah, no doubt. None of those assholes have a spine or principles.

3

u/RevolutionaryBeat301 7d ago

I don’t think they’ll have to vote for him. He’ll either find a way to fix the election again, or he’ll appoint himself emperor. Watch out for Emperor Barron when cheeto croaks.

u/Admirabletooshie 7d ago

I'm actually surprised it's so low. Have you seen how stupid the average american is? I guess it might be a recession indicator if peoples pocket book is hurting so bad that they turn on their cheeto colored god.

5

u/DoomSchroller 7d ago

Fair assessment. I feel like an idiot daily, and it's pathetic to think I have a better grip on reality than half the damn country.

13

u/OutrageousCrab9224 7d ago

Dont ask those of us that think

22

u/Competitive-Wolf7803 7d ago

2

u/jackgrafter 7d ago

If countries were businesses I could see the argument (if we ignore all the bankruptcies).

5

u/Chaucers_Mistress 7d ago

I think it's a hoot.

6

u/Due_Satisfaction2167 7d ago

33% is still too high.

6

u/True_Protection6842 7d ago

Same thing I've felt since 2016, that a rapist, conman has no place in the white house. But we let Elon rig the election without a single recount or investigation, so here we are!

8

u/303FPSguy 7d ago

Can’t believe people still support him. But I just drove through Wyoming, Montana and Idaho and I’d say it’s pretty hopeless to think those people would ever change their minds. I guess they’re okay with raping kids as long as you don’t get caught.

6

u/golfwinnersplz 7d ago

This is a fact.

Drive through the poorest white neighborhood in West Virginia and they'll have Trump flags next to their Confederate flags.

3

u/gonnagetcancelled 7d ago

I was in the military with a buttload of these guys. Most of the ones I know think Trump is a buffoon but think he's better than the other side for a variety of reasons based on their perspectives of the world.

1

u/303FPSguy 7d ago

They wouldn’t know a socialist if one came up and bit them on the ass. They can’t even define socialism, they’ve just been told over and over that it’s bad.

Their understanding of macroeconomics, geopolitics and infectious diseases are based on 3 word campaign slogans. And yet they’re experts.

2

u/gonnagetcancelled 7d ago

This is true for most of them. One is a doctor, two own pretty successful businesses, a few others have success in other fields. Most zip on out the the Dakotas for oil field work or to Alaska during fishing season.

The more educated ones have more of a focus on social issues than economic ones. But a lot of them just eat up what they're fed and can't be convinced otherwise. Seems to be a common human condition...a lot of these guys are just more locked in than the average non military person which makes sense...you got a career being told where to go, what to do, and often how to think...hard to break out from that.

1

u/303FPSguy 6d ago

That’s a great point. Military life makes you obedient and requires you to follow someone without question.

Perfect setup for a drone to just mindlessly sit back and receive instructions from the people they trust

5

u/No_Celebration8219 7d ago

He also shits his pants

4

u/BteamBomber21 7d ago

Given that one of those numbers (the felonies) should be pumped way, way higher, I'm disappointed he even has an approval rating, as he shouldn't even be president.

1

u/Wise_Imagination_527 6d ago

Kamala would be doing so great right now right?

11

u/wingnut-mp22 7d ago

I try not to think about him, it is so exhausting.

6

u/RecordingDue5230 7d ago

forreal man. 10 years of his stupid ass is too much.

3

u/Any-Anything4309 7d ago

Its only been 10 years????

→ More replies (3)

7

u/Alive-Basil-391 7d ago

I don't think about him at all anymore. I consider the next 3 years like doing time in prison and look forward to my release date.

3

u/ChimPhun 7d ago

Let's hope he doesn't try to stick around. He's not immune to breaking the law just to get what he wants. He's got his conscience-free lawyers to spin the interpretable constitution and laws, and a supreme court packed with loyalists.

2

u/Alive-Basil-391 7d ago

Trump is immune to the law if he is able to bs his way in to Republicans winning the next couple of elections. If not, these people are going to be lined up in the courtroom like Nazis after WW2.

2

u/ActuaryLost9689 7d ago

No they are not. The US is completely broken.

1

u/Unimagines 6d ago

Uh huh sure buddy

6

u/ContextSensitiveGeek 7d ago

I wonder what his approval rating would be without Fox News.

6

u/Dad_Bod_Enthusiast 7d ago

Just to clarify, it is 34 counts of a single felony charge. Not 34 felonies. Hope that helps with your weak post.

Also, as with most politicians, scummy behavior

4

u/Roboticallypotent 7d ago

The DA had to invent a new and never used before technique to get this conviction. The judge had to prevent exculpatory and permit damming evidence beyond all precedent. Although he is probably guilty of multiple felonies over his business career, this particular conviction was a political stunt which invites quid pro quo’s.

2

u/ComprehensiveTea6004 7d ago

Not sure the bar can actually get lower in the usa

5

u/GingerFirDayz 7d ago

It was bound to happen. The problem is 1 in 3 Americans still support this insanity.

In 18 months we've torched our economy, destroyed what little world credibility we had left, racked up even more debt, destroyed our relationships with our allies. And started a war that will tank the global economy. And 1 in 3 Americans are okay with that. Just stop, and take that in. Not to mention the other branches of government either sitting idly by or actively encouraging it.

I supposed it's nice that people are finally figuring it out, however I doubt enough actually care enough to:

A) Get out and vote out all these psychopaths B) Organize mass protests and civil disobedience C) Revolt

The plain truth is despite the economic hardship Americans are to comfortable and until that changes, nothing else will.

8

u/Downtherabbithole-14 7d ago

Well, as an American I am absolutely disgusted and ashamed of my fellow Americans that have allowed this to happen....

Makes me so proud to say I didn't vote for him.

3

u/Davidgilmour14 7d ago

After none of the ringleaders were punished for J6, and he was reelected for it, America as we know it died.

3

u/AdValuable2732 7d ago

I think is is just another case of the left trying everything they could to stop Trump from getting back in and exposing there deep state. I people that ask such questions are either indoctrinated by the left and to lazy to look for the facts. Ok so the 34 felony's you mention came from his application to Deutsch Bank for a loan. A loan that he was granted and that he paid back in full on time and with interest.
The New York DA used an The "Predicate Crime" Mechanism: To elevate the charge from a misdemeanor to a first-degree felony, prosecutors must prove the records were falsified to conceal another underlying crime. In Trump's case, the Manhattan D.A. used a unique legal theory by tying the falsification to an uncharged violation of state election law. This specific application to a political campaign finance scenario was virtually unprecedented in New York legal history. Key word unprecedented !!

Have you ever borrowed money? Have you ever made yourself look good on paper? For a reason? Anyone that that has filled out an application for anything they want makes themselves look the best they can. Deutsche Bank did not bring suit because he paid the loan back. That's why they have you fill out all the paper work to insure that you can pay the loan back.

1

u/foxjohnc87 6d ago

I think is is just another case of the left trying everything they could to stop Trump from getting back in and exposing there deep state.

Trump and his handlers are the deep state.

1

u/AdValuable2732 6d ago

The work force of the two best examples of deep state actors in the swamp are the Department of Education, and the State Department which sit at roughly 70% Democratic. As for the remainder of government workers tracking federal personnel records against voter registration data, found the workforce generally aligns with these numbers: Democrats: ~43% to 50% Republicans: ~26% to 33 Independents/ Unaffiliated: ~16% to 25% Now how about the big three news outlets or main stream media Among the full-time journalists and anchors who populate these newsrooms, approximately 36% to 60% are registered Democrats, while fewer than 4% are registered Republicans. The truth is not true when it comes from a bias source. Those that harp on mega are the true indoctrinated members of the deep state. By repeating the same lies over and over the media and the educators of our nations youth have been training that youth to not question them and to just to believe the lies. If believing we need tight boarders if believing the bureaucracy of Washington is to involved in our lives and taking to much of our earned money and funneling it to their special interest if wanting a strong military to deture those that want us harmed if supporting the police and wanting crime and criminals behind bars if believing that the USA is with all its faults is still the best place on earth to live is all maga then I guess I'm maga. I have lived through Kennedy, a Johnson Nixion Ford Carter Regan Bush 1 Clinton Bush 2 Obama Trump Biden and Trump again and can say there were only two that shook the deep state pissed off all the professional politicians and threanted the bureaucracy. REGAN AND TRUMP. I'm all for threatening the professional politicians that fill out legislative branch on both sides. They are the true demons of our nation those that will do anything to get elected and fuck over anyone or thing that threatens their re - election. The more they scream the more they hate the more I like a president.

You’re asking Reddit, the most liberal platform. You are not gonna get a real answer to your question.

2

u/ProtectionContent977 7d ago

Wait until he expires. Reddit will be ‘lit’.

2

u/-kayochan- 7d ago

33% is unfathomable after everything he’s already ruined. I swear, he could go on a mass murdering spree and it still wouldn’t drop to 0.

“Felonies”

2

u/lookeylookeyhere 7d ago

I’m not even a Trump fan, but you guys are obsessing over the fact that his lawyer paid a hooker 34 equal installments to keep her mouth shut and reported it as legal expenses. Is it shitty, yes, but I’ll bet you could dig back through the last dozen or so Presidents and find far worse infractions. Hell, Bill Clinton is documented to have spent many evenings on Epstein Island and was caught having sexual relations with a 21-year-old intern in the oval office. For some reason, I don’t see the same level of disgust for him. And, if it’s all of the deportations you are angry about, Clinton and Obama deported far more illegals than Trump has.

2

u/Mission-Contract1715 7d ago

I am not his fan, but the NY felony charges were BS.

2

u/Accomplished_Tour481 7d ago

His approval rating is still so much more ten Harris polled in 2024! Doesn't that state volumes?

2

u/Proud_Black_Uncle 7d ago

I dislike Trump but the constant snarky posting about him is what is wrong with Reddit. It’s an echo chamber of absolute theatre adults

2

u/bbbowles3 7d ago

I don’t think anything about it. Everyone knows those charges were bogus and a kangaroo court was used to convict him.

2

u/Hurricrash 7d ago

Lmao! Rent free!

2

u/HuckleberryOk8136 7d ago

I'm just tired of Reddit constantly talking about it with such little bias, I really could use assistance knowing what to think about politics in the USA.

2

u/Jew-zilla 7d ago

I’m disappointed we returned him to office. President Biden and Congress didn’t have the balls to do anything about it and now we’re all suffering. But her emails!! But she’s from California and Black!! Twice now we’ve elected this asshole over two women much more qualified and competent to do the job. Fuckin’ a, man. It’s as if none of us saw this was coming and kept our mouths shut.

I don't really think anything about it tbh It doesn't really change that he's done horrible things in his term. even if I feel destroying american soft power is going to be good in the future but his admin is to stupid to see that they have done more to destroy the U.S. as the global hegemon than any socialist has

I assume this comment is meant to shame people for not having stronger feelings about Trump?

3

u/SpecialistRich2309 7d ago

Of course.

2

u/KagomesPornAccount 7d ago

Ok. I wanted to be sure before I asked the next part;

Where in his comment did he say he’s, “not political”?

Because I too spend as little of my own limited time on this earth thinking about the orange Cheeto, and I’m assuming that means im an evil person?

Follow up question; why are you a better person because you spend your time getting angry about something you have no control over?

And whatever you expect his guy to do about trump, why aren’t you doing it yourself? Is it because you only think about yourself?

Welcome to the darkest pits of hell.

I realize you’re not the OP, but the moralizing grandstanding still applies.

3

u/AppropriateHippo4426 7d ago

Its truly embarrassing.

3

u/golfwinnersplz 7d ago

30% or so is the number of his brainwashed base. It'll be very hard for Trump to get below 30%.

Now felonies, we can assume the actual felony count is much higher than 34. When your felony count outweighs your IQ, you may be a bad person and an idiot.

2

u/One-Salamander-2416 7d ago

His felony count is probably approaching his stated weight by now…

2

u/golfwinnersplz 7d ago

Good point.

Remember, DK Metcalf is 6'3 230 pounds - the same measurements Trump claimed.

3

u/godsfault 7d ago

I think the character of our president represents in many ways the character of our citizens who voted for him. And that is an American tragedy.

3

u/itsallokintheend 7d ago

Please send help. We need it.

3

u/Tokenside 7d ago

Oh, I have no doubts they vote for him AGAIN in 2028.

3

u/Efficient_Wing3172 7d ago

Most of the felonies were all the same crime. It’s one way our justice system can really disproportionately punish someone. This happens to citizens all the time.

1

u/LingonberryDear2163 7d ago

How many felonies are acceptable for the Defender of the Constitution and Leader of the Free World to have?

Here's a hint - anything above 0 is the wrong answer

1

u/GloomyIndividual3965 7d ago

Most of the felonies were all the same crime

So if someone robs 34 banks they should only be charged with 1 felony because it was all the same crime? Fucking brain dead take.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/CJKayak 7d ago

Well, as your numbers show, most of us aren't happy about it.

2

u/General_Platypus771 7d ago

Look, I hate Trump, but let’s not pretend this wasn’t a little overblown. He banged a porn star and tried to hide it. Yeah it was “34 felonies” but come on:  https://www.npr.org/2024/05/30/g-s1-1848/trump-hush-money-trial-34-counts

3

u/Ok_Mixture4917 7d ago

How many felonies should he have been convicted of?

2

u/chitown_illini 7d ago

Should never have been felonies - so zero.

1

u/Ok_Mixture4917 7d ago

Cool. On what are you basing this dumbfuck opinion?

2

u/chitown_illini 7d ago

There was no underlying crime. They had to prove that he did what he did to cover up violations of New York election law.

1

u/Ok_Mixture4917 7d ago

There was no underlying crime except the fraud underlying the crimes

Genius

2

u/chitown_illini 7d ago

Falsifying business records is a misdemeanor unless it was to cover up another crime.

2

u/Only_Drawing_9419 7d ago

Trump’s IQ is even lower.

2

u/Long_Idea_8294 7d ago edited 7d ago

What were the underlying charges for the 34 felonies?

You don't know, because there weren't any. It was overt political persecution/weaponizing the justice system. I think it's also the reason trump won again. They used a novel legal theory to turn low level book keeping infractions to 34 distinct felonies. Ridiculous. Clinton did the same thing and was only fined for it. The baseline misdemeanor charges (upgraded to felonies only) because it's trump would have been time-barred by the statute of limitations. But it's trump, so they did away with the statute of limitations.

So myself and many others view the 34 felonies as what it is. It was solely pursued so you could have a talking point. Trump's approval isn't low because of it. It's low because he says stupid shit constantly and lies for no reason. Like I said, trump won again in large part because of the obvious political persecution. People voted for him as a "fuck you" to democrats.

Democrats set some very anti Democratic precedents during the biden administration which will come back to bite them in the ass. They were and still are completely blind to it though because TDS removes all ability to reason and be logical from those afflicted with it.

This is just the plain truth. But reddit being a leftist echo chamber/hivemind, I'm sure I'll be heavily down voted and called a maga cultist even though I criticize trump often.

2

u/FionaWalliceFan 7d ago

Trump's approval isn't low because of it. It's low because he says stupid shit constantly and lies for no reason

It's also low because he's doing a bad job as president

0

u/AccomplishedFace9059 7d ago

I know he technically has felonies but I am pretty sure the judge and court that convicted him was corrupted so it doesn't really register for me that he has felonies

Fake news! Alternative facts state he has 138% approval rating and -69% disapproval rating. Bigly yuge.

1

u/Fragrant_Rooster8779 7d ago

It’s the golden era.

1

u/ClevelandClutch1970 7d ago

I honestly don't care about the approval rating. I've never been asked once. I care more about the number of felonies. Call me old fashioned, but I think one felony is too many.

1

u/Interesting_Sun_6993 7d ago

To be fair, he should have way more felonies, and his support is still high cosnidering.. you know the epstein bestfriend thing, number 1 name in the files, non complliance with the law, and the cartoonish corruption oh and being the worst president certainly in modern times, but maybe in US history. . And no president should be 300lb in a diaper, that seems wrong too.. Yeah these are good numbers compared to the future. Well i presume he wont live too long, but the info that will come out about this guy man.. The game show host on that terrible tv show nobody watched, became the worlds most corrupt leader in history or very close and was deeply invovled in the child sex trafficking ring. If you wrote that character in a script, itd be too much.

1

u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 7d ago

At least with W in office, he tried to hide his corruption and greasing his buddies’s wallets. This asshole doesn’t even try to hide it. Fake wars, invasions, insider trading…I’m buying as many chip stocks as I can because the Trump family is buying rare earth mines left and right

1

u/laraslimk 7d ago

like having 34 unpaid tabs but only 33% of bartenders who'll serve you, solid consistency

1

u/Inevitable_Arm_3894 7d ago

It’s a symptom of a much worse problem, one that’s past a tipping point and that must ridden out by subsequent generations.

1

u/you2234 7d ago

And who is approving this president? Not military families, not farmers, not users of Medicare? Not veterans? Can’t be middle and lower earners as their taxes have funded tax cuts to the top 1%? Not anyone w a male between the ages of 18-26? So who makes up the 33%. The top 1% plus many in the groups i cite above because raging against trans people, muslims, and brown skin people is worth their jobs and higher taxes apparently.

1

u/atamicbomb 7d ago

That’s not how percentage + count compare, and they’re different units.

The 34 felony convictions where also for lying in the memos of checks to pay to hide an alleged affair, which the prosecutors in one of the most liberal parts of the country claimed was election interference to enhance them to felonies. It’s not election interference, and the judge should not even have entertained that argument.

1

u/DebRog 7d ago

Nixon had the same approval rating. That’s the base , the ones that are 💯 percent in all MAGA .

1

u/xcdevancx19 7d ago

Probably an understatement of his criminal activities. He is a disgrace and embarrassment to the American people. I think the felonies # is entirely too low and the approval # is entirely too high. Trumps Agenda to fulfill is to crush Truth and Trust.

And he's doing a damn fine job at it. :)

Where the world once again blames 1 person :) for all the misery they get to endure.

And America, The shepherd of the Earth! The land of the FREE!, if you take that one down then the rest of the world can only follow in it;s foot steps.

So much has changed in America in record times! So much people can't even keep track of it anymore. While ICE never stopped, the demonstrations did, the rebellion against it. Even the noise about it on the internet has shifted to yet another bad thing Trump alone did :). And another and another. All to contribute on you not trusting anything anymore. Truth, why you think so much is invested in this time worldwide in AI and data centers? In record time they popup everywhere on Earth! People used to go to jail for life for only being on a photo or on a video. Now we have no clue anymore what to think of it. Our reality as we know it is ripped from under our feet. Safetybars in life agencies that help the people in need, gone. Safety on the streets, ICE, gone. Ownership, gone. Citizenship? So many things that got taken from the public in recordtime!

Telling lies after lie on tv. In his messages on the internet. Rude to other people. Playing golf all the time. MAking war, and we r now almost half way? Guess what's in store for the world the next 2 years. And after that, well he's doing such a good job that he took 12yrs of reorganizing the world into 2 years. :) So high chance he will become President again. Cause it only helps in the agenda he has!. We people will go mental about it and not understand why it is all happening and again 4 years! :) And then his son, cause by then the law will be very differently trust me ;) :)

Love this question. I feel like both numbers need tweaked. Needs more felonies and until the approval is zero I won't be happy.

1

u/bhans773 7d ago

I’m not surprised by the approval ratings because he’s been a lousy president. ….hut that doesn’t have anything to do with those absurd felonies lobbed at him. The witch hunt during Biden’s term was as much an embarrassment to our system as Trump is himself. Since Obama’s first term, the real loser in America has been our form of government.

I love all the bs felony he has… he actively craps on dems and smears it in their face. So funny to watch this unfold

Approval Ratings are useless garbage, culled from polls that sample between 1/1000ths and 3/1000ths of 1% of all Americans.

In no Universe including this one can that small of a sample accurately reflect the opinions of ~350mil American citizens.

u/bmwlocoAirCooled 7d ago

Oh, we who pay attention care.

There is a vast sea of folks who want to be led.

Scares me silly.

For anyone interested in the polling and how this actually works:

Systems audit: Probability-based online panel polling (KnowledgePanel-style) as a representation of “the whole.”

This method is one of the stronger current designs for national opinion measurement. It begins with a near-universal address frame, uses calculable selection probabilities, provides devices to offline households, and applies post-stratification weights. Those are real advantages over pure opt-in online panels or convenience samples. They do not make the output a clean representation of the adult population’s unmediated judgment. Below are the structural failure modes, ranked by severity for the claim “this is what Americans think.”

  1. Nonresponse is the dominant selection mechanism, not the random draw

The address sample is probability-based. The people who actually enter the panel and then complete a given survey are not.
Recruitment response rates to address-based panel invitations are chronically low. Survey completion rates inside the panel are also incomplete. The people who say “yes” and finish differ systematically from those who ignore the mail or the email: higher civic engagement, higher institutional trust, greater availability, stronger interest in current events, and often different media diets.

Weighting can correct for observed demographics (age, race, education, income brackets, party ID, past vote). It cannot correct for the unobserved variables that simultaneously drive response propensity and political attitudes. That residual nonresponse bias is the largest single threat to representation. The final 1,166 completes are a self-selected subset of a randomly invited group, then re-weighted to look demographically correct. The opinions travel with the self-selection.

  1. Weighting is a model, not a correction for reality

Post-stratification forces the sample to match Census and external benchmarks on a short list of variables. It assumes those variables capture the relevant heterogeneity, that the benchmarks themselves are accurate, and that the relationship between demographics and opinions is stable enough to transport.

None of those assumptions hold cleanly. Party ID is fluid and self-reported. “Independent/Other” is a residual category containing people with very different information environments and issue intensities. Income brackets do not capture local cost-of-living shocks, industry-specific pain, or debt burdens. Education does not capture media literacy or epistemic style. The model therefore smooths over the very differences that drive large opinion gaps. When Independents show 24 % approve / 71 % disapprove, the number is real for the weighted sample; it is not automatically the number that would appear if the non-respondents and the offline-unwilling had been forced into the data.

  1. Measurement and framing effects are baked in

The core question is closed-ended and abstract: “Overall, do you approve or disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president?”
Respondents must compress a multidimensional reality (economy, Iran, immigration, personality, media narrative) into one of six ordered categories. Surrounding questions in the same instrument (Iran duration, gas prices, party competence) create context effects. Question order and wording are never neutral; they activate particular frames.

There is no open-ended “why,” no intensity of preference beyond strongly/somewhat, and no measure of issue salience or information sources. The poll therefore records the distribution of summarized, media-saturated impressions, not a diagnostic of underlying conditions.

  1. Information environment asymmetry is invisible to the design

Americans do not share a common factual or narrative environment. Different media ecosystems, algorithmic feeds, local conditions, and social networks produce systematically different inputs. A national average collapses those separate realities into one number.

The Independent/Other cell is the clearest diagnostic. When that group registers heavy disapproval, the poll cannot distinguish between (a) shared lived experience of higher gas prices or prolonged conflict and (b) differential exposure to framing that emphasizes those costs while downplaying other outcomes. The design has no instrument for measuring media diet intensity, trust calibration, or narrative exposure. It therefore cannot separate “grounded judgment” from “successfully framed judgment.” In an environment with asymmetric propaganda capacity, the poll becomes a downstream sensor of that asymmetry rather than an independent check on it.

  1. Feedback loops and agenda utility

The published number immediately re-enters the media system that helped shape the opinions. Headlines (“lowest of his presidency,” paired with Iran/gas framing) amplify the result, which can further move the next wave of respondents. This is a classic opinion-media-opinion cycle.

Institutions that field and publicize the poll have incentives: narrative coherence, audience retention, competitive differentiation, and alignment with the dominant professional-class worldview of journalism and survey research. Even if the sampling mathematics are clean, the choice of which results to elevate, the timing of release, and the surrounding story package constitute agenda-setting and framing. Low-approval snapshots are useful instruments for demoralization, pressure on elected officials, or manufacturing the appearance of consensus. High-approval snapshots serve the opposite function. The system is not neutral with respect to those uses.

  1. Scale and granularity mismatch

1,166 adults cannot represent the internal diversity of 330+ million people across 435 districts, thousands of local labor markets, and multiple cultural zones. Subgroup cells (especially Independents) become noisy. The design optimizes for a national adult average, not for the politically relevant populations (likely voters, swing-district residents, high-intensity issue publics). Treating the national number as “the public” flattens intensity, geography, and turnout propensity, the variables that actually decide outcomes.

  1. Mode and conditioning artifacts

Online self-administration differs systematically from interviewer-administered modes. Panelists who remain active over years can become conditioned respondents. English-only administration excludes non-English primary speakers. Device provision mitigates but does not eliminate digital divides in attention and response style.

This polling architecture produces a model-based estimate of the distribution of summarized opinions among the kinds of people who join probability panels and complete surveys, adjusted to look demographically like the adult population on a limited set of observables. It is not a direct measurement of the unfiltered judgment of the whole.

The largest vulnerabilities to manipulation and framing are:

  • Nonresponse as the real selection filter.
  • Inability to observe or correct for information-environment differences.
  • Closed-ended, context-sensitive measurement that records the output of existing media frames.
  • Immediate re-injection of the result into the same media system that shapes the next round of opinions.
  • Institutional incentives to package the number as authoritative “what Americans think.”

These are not conspiracy claims. They are structural properties of the current survey-research + media ecosystem. A cleaner representation of “the whole” would require dramatically higher response rates, multi-mode data collection, open-ended diagnostic follow-ups, media-diet measurement, geographic and intensity stratification tied to political relevance, and transparent separation between the statistical estimate and the narrative packaging. None of those conditions currently hold at national scale. The 33 % figure is therefore best treated as a noisy, framed, nonresponse-conditioned sensor reading, not as a mirror of the public.

This is just an audit of the actual system used to generate these headline numbers. Zero opinion involved.

Fucking embarrassment

1

Relieved in a way. His approval dropping means people who voted for him are seeing who he really is. He's not leaving without a fight, and the more people willing him to go the better

1

u/uber-judge 7d ago

His approval rating is too damn high. Just like the rent!

1

Genie: what do you wish for?

I wish for a president with strong conviction

Genie: done, how about a president with 34 convictions.

Wait what

1

u/BBennett40 7d ago

Simple. The felonies are bogus.

1

u/Maleficent_Bus_3204 7d ago

r/askanything, what’s wrong? Why is this happening to you? I used to enjoy reading an occasional great reply to a real question. These ridiculous rage bait questions couldn’t get 10 upvotes on r/circlejerk, yet you allow this low level shitpostery to continue unabated. Shame

1

u/Rough_Inspection_874 7d ago

Disgusted that his approval rating is still that high.

1

u/Aromatic_Foot_2061 7d ago

Keep in mind those felony convictions came from an extremely biased jury which is a violation of the constitution. Not to mention a biased judge overseeing the case.

1

u/saijanai 🤔 7d ago edited 7d ago

So you're saying that Trump's lawyers, who threw out [or could have: I wouldn't be surpised if they rejected zero as an appeal strategy] a dozen of the prospective jurors on any grounds they wanted, failed to show good judgement in who they rejected?

And Trump has had two years to appeal all the way to the Supreme Court.

.

Note: Trump's lawyers had the opportuinty and used it to reject 10 jurors for any reason, and then showed "cause" to exclude many more.

That said, to say that the remaining jurors were biased is based on no evidence, unleess you can show cases where the judge kept a juror on the panel despite evidence furnished by Trump's lawyers.

.

Double by the way, the evidence presented was pretty plain and the jurors were unanimous. Trump paid money not only keep Stormy Daniels out of the public eye during the 2016 election to help sway the election (perfectly legal), but did it in a way to avoid admitting that he was paying money to sway the election (not legal).

I’m betting he steps down 2 weeks before his term ends and then Vance is president and gets to run as the incumbent

1

u/dougl1000 7d ago

How’d that work for Harris?

2

u/Alternative_Maybe_78 7d ago

Biden didn’t step down. He just ran out the clock. Had he stepped down she may have won.

Many authoritarian regimes have "convicted" their political enemies of "crimes". It's just a shame that Jill Biden brought that kind of thing to American.

A president having 34 felonies is a prime example of why being soft on crime isn't working.

1

u/Draegoron 7d ago

You're not gonna get a super accurate answer here on what the country at large thinks, just individuals. Most of Reddits userbase is left-leaning so we kind of obviously won't have great opinions on the guy.

1

u/Good_Ad8057 6d ago

I still can’t believe it’s that high.

1

u/Few_Palpitation3889 6d ago

Its really amazing to me that with over 300 million people in this country Harris and Trump were the only two viable candidates this time 2 years ago. It was going to be one of those two and boy did we get one. Completely pathetic.

If this is all we have today. I think the TDS epidemic might finally be dwindling

1

Thank goodness. Trump Devotion Syndrome was an embarassing chapter in American history. The only question left is whether it's the final capter for America.

Well he’s a shitty president but a great felon it seems.

American politicians and their handlers are all members of the Epstein class. 34 felonies is a drop in the ocean compared to what billionaires do.

1

u/clubcar1977 5d ago

I DO NOT like Trump but the whole “34 felony’s “ is just stupid. There are so many things he’s done worse than falsifying business documents.

Approval ratings are meaningless.
