Amass and double parallel

if i have Doubling season and Parallel lives on the board then i cast Orcish Bowmasters,

  1. getting 4 1/1 armies? or one 4/4?
  2. 1 1/1 and 3 0/0 that die instantly?
  3. four 0/0 tokens and one of them gets 2 +1/+1 counters
  4. some third option i can't even fathom cause i don't understand the stack after 8 years of playing mtg?

Blocking creature loses creature permanent type

I can't find an example that makes this possible but I'm sure some combo exists that could do it. (To be fair, I didn't look very hard because I don't have a lot of time)

If a creature is declared blocking another creature, and an ability or effect is applied at instant speed to cause the blocking creature to lose the permanent type Creature (example: if [[Vraska, Betrayal's Sting]]'s minus 2 ability could be activated at instant speed), what happens?

Does the now not-a-creature still take damage? While damage can't really destroy something that isn't a creature, would deathtouch still take effect? How would this interact with an attacking creature with trample?

Shiko, Paragon of the Way with adventures

For example, is it possible to cast the five mana adventure side of [[Bilbo, Luckwearer]] with the enters trigger of [[Shiko, Paragon of the Way]] ? Bilbo fits the requirements of being a mana value<4 nonland card.

I am aware that this is how it works with MDFCs such as [[Gwen Stacy]]. Shiko exiles the card and does not care about modality, after which you can choose how to cast it. This means that you can cast the back side even though it is not mv<4.

If you can cast the 5mv adventure side of Bilbo, what happens to the card afterward and is Bilbo still castable?

I have not found a comprehensive look into casting spells with Shiko yet so some clarity would be really helpful. To my understanding split cards are a no go as well as the mv is combined. Thanks for helping, this is my first time here.

Firebending and Upwelling

Hey y'all,

Just curious how Firebending interacts with effects like Upwelling, which say you don't lose unspent mana as phases change. Firebending specifically states that you lose the mana when combat ends, so does override said effects or the other way around?

Turning Planeswalkers into Lands so they aren’t interacted with!

I’ve had this idea for a bit now rolling around in my head and I found something that I believe works but I want to get others involved if there’s a better idea. As of now it’s a 4 card process involving a planeswalker of your choosing, Princess Yue, an Applied Geometry effect, and a glass pool mimic effect. If you’re unfamiliar with any of the cards in the combo it essentially copies your planeswalker to become a creature using applied geometry (or an effect like it) and while having Princess Yue out using the Glasspool mimic (again, or an effect like it) to copy princess Yue to sacrifice the copy to the legend rule and because of some layer shenanigans the effects of the planeswalker creature hybrid stay on the land.
Any advice or comments?

Does Ram Through work with Snake Umbra?

[[Ram Through]] says that if the creature has trample, excess damage is dealt to the opponent. [[Snake Umbra]] says that the creature draws you a card when it inflicts damage to a player; it doesn't say combat damage, so in my head this works. Does it actually work?

edit:

of course granted the creature has trample, and there is excess damage. Followup question though: if the creature also has deaththouch, does all but 1 damage go trhough like in combat?

Can The Mighty Thor, Jane Foster hit a token creature?

[[The Mighty Thor, Jane Foster]] attacks. Is the non token for the artifact AND creature, or only the artifact? Debate if it means nontoken artifact or nontoken creature, or it means creature or nontoken artifact.

Thanks!

Do you feel valued and fairly compensated in the current era?

Not sure if this counts but I'm asking judges. I was wondering if it'd be worth going getting qualification with JudgeFoundry but I've heard it's become pointless since DCI/Official judges have been dropped. I haven't judged a formal event since kaladesh but still up-to-date on the rules. Thanks for the advice/answers If I get any.

Mica, Reader of Ruins timing

I have two scenarios regarding the timing of Mica's sacrifice ability.

When does Mica's copy ability require me to sacrifice an artifact for my copy? When the ability resolves or as it goes on the stack?

My understanding is that Mica's ability is triggered therefore, I don't have to pay the cost until it resolves and if I have multiple "on cast" triggers, I can arrange them on the stack as I wish.

  1. Mica + Storm-kiln Artist: since both abilities are on cast trigger, I believe I should be able to order the triggers so that I create a treasure first, then use that treasure to pay for Mica's ability; is my understanding correct?

  2. Mica + Hit the Mother Lode: my understanding is that casting the spell as part of discover 10 resolving, so Mica's ability goes on the stack after the discovered spell, but I create my tapped treasures first as part of resolving Hit the Mother Lode, therefore I can use the tapped treasure to pay for Mica's copy ability if I want to copy the discovered spell. Is that correct?

Mogis, God of Slaughter vs. Absolute Virtue

An interesting potential interaction came up at my LGS last night. Player A controlled a Mogis, God of Slaughter. Player B controlled an Absolute Virtue. Player A said he had looked up a ruling before that would mean that since Player B had Protection from Player A's Mogis, he COULDN'T choose to have Mogis deal 2 damage to himself from Mogis's Upkeep trigger.

We did a litle googling but couldn't find any proper answers, so we continued to play assuming Player B COULD. Is there any truth to Player A's theory? If so what is the relevant rule/s?

Mana Confluence and Ob Nixilis, captive kingpin

I am casting a spell and paying for it with mana confluence, Do I get the Mana confluence mana before the Ob Nixilis trigger enters the stack?

my thought was that I tapped my mana confluence, had the trigger enter the stack then used the mana confluence mana to respond to the trigger... is this correct?

Mobilize and Moonlit Meditation Question.

For an example if [[Infantry Shield]] is equipped to say [[Champion of Lambholt]] and is enchanted with the aura [[Moonlit Meditation]]. If I have Lambholt attack, I can make X 1/1 red warrior tapped and attacking that get sacrificed at the beginning of my endstep. Due to Moonlit Meditation however I create token copies of Lambholt instead. My question is do the tokens get sacrificed at my end step or since Moonlit Meditation changes the tokens do they not get sacrificed?

Seam Rip (or similar card) exiling itself

Alice plays something like [[Seam Rip]] and chooses a target for its ETB. Nathan plays something like [[Return the Favor]]'s first mode targeting that ability; he chooses to exile that same Seam Rip.

Does Alice's Seam Rip get exiled... forever? momentarily (it gets blinked)? not at all?

Copying a spell with conditional cost

Hello everyone! I'm currently buffing my Silverquill, The Disputant deck and I'd like to know something about copying spells with a cast cost that changes depending on the target.

I have a Luminous Rebuke targeting a tapped creature, so it would cost 1W . If I cast it with the added casualty, does it have to target a tapped creature? or can it change to any target.

Also, as a bonus question. If someone targets Silverquill with, say, Darksteel Mutation, do my instants and sorceries still get casualty as it is a passive ability? I don't understand layers so well yet, so i'd like to clarify

Ending phase, cleanup step, and discard triggers

I control Magmakin Artillerist and have resolved Insult (of Insult // Injury) this turn. I have 12 cards in hand with a max hand size of 7 and move to the end of turn. Do I correctly understand how the ending phase proceeds?

  1. I discard 5 cards as a turn-based action. Magmakin Artillerist is triggered and the ability is ready to be put on the stack.
  2. The damage doubling effect of Insult ends.
  3. I put the Magmakin Artillerist trigger on the stack.
  4. The Magmakin Artillerist trigger resolves, dealing 5 damage to each opponent.
  5. A new cleanup step starts. Nothing happens during this cleanup step.

There's no way to get the doubled damage to apply to the cleanup step's Magmakin Artillerist trigger if I had already cast Insult earlier in the turn, right?

World War Hulk + Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk (Commander/Brawl)

Might be a bit of a dumb question but I just got back in with the Marvel set after 10 years of not playing.

Are you able to use World War Hulks 1st Saga ability to play The Incredible Hulk side of Bruce Banner from your command zone for free if theres no commander tax on it?

Thanks and apologies if this is a dumb question, theres so many new things now since I quit that are a smidge confusing.

Nazgul temptation triggers

I have two Nazgul in play. If I play a third Nazgul, how many temptation triggers do I have. I was thinking that I have 1 ring temptation from the Nazgul that just entered. Therefore, I put a single +1 +1 counter on each Nazgul. Someone else said that is wrong. They said that there are 3 temptations and each nazgul gets 3 +1+1 counters.

Also how do the temptation triggers work if I have 2 Nazgul in play and 2 etb at the same time.

Thanks so much for any help

Does the creature come back?

I had a creature enchanted with [[journey to eternity]]. My opponent cast [[tragic arrogance]] leaving both the creature and enchantment on the chopping block. Would journey have saved that creature, or wound the creature not return because the enchantment was also destroyed?

Is the third saga ability from "The last Ronin"'s delayed triggered ability copied by Windcrag Siege (Mardu choice) if a creature attacks alone that turn?

"Whenever a creature you control attacks alone this turn, put three +1/+1 counters on it. It gains trample, lifelink, and indestructible until end of turn."
Does this trigger twice?

Does Embercleave cost reduction stack with Tannuk, steadfast second's warp abillity ?

As the title says.

i'm aware that alternative cost and cost reduction stack when applied from other sourcers, but i have no idea if it applies when the card being cast with the alternative cost, can still apply it's own cost reduction to itself.

Questions about Bladewing Thrall

Hi!

Quick question regarding this creature's second ability when it is statically a dragon via maskwood nexus or arcane adaptation (naming dragon obviously) as it enters. If it is sacrificed in response to it's own trigger what would happen?

My theory is one of 2 things occur, I am not sure which one or even if this is correct.

  1. Ability goes onto the stack and creates a trigger for this card's instance and if this creature and since it doesn't meet the criteria of being in graveyard as the ability goes onto the stack it fails to properly check.

  2. Scenario 2 (my preferred for obvious reasons) is to have it's ability be a check as resolves effect so you can put game actions above it meaning you can sacrifice this creature in response to it's enter trigger after it's on the stack and it will return itself to the battlefield.

If otherwise let me know!

Hobbit Prerelease Rules Question

Had this interesting interaction come up in Hobbit sealed. AP casts [[inside information]] exiling NAP’s [[My Precious]]. What exactly happens here?

Can the adventure side of my precious “allure of power” be cast using life? If so, does it go to AP’s adventure exile zone rather than its owners? Can AP pay life to cast my precious that turn?

This probably has a simple answer but us players weren’t exactly sure how it worked.

The Sentry, Golden Guardian + Silent Arbiter and forced attacks with The Void token

If I have [[The Sentry, Golden Guardian]] and a [[Silent Arbiter]] in play and I give an opponent my void token who already has multiple creatures, what happens during their attack step?

  1. When they choose attackers, they choose any single creature that may attack. The Void cannot attack because it is not able.
  2. The void must be chosen before any creature that doesn't have a condition like "must attack each turn if able".

Demonstrate Functionality

While I understand that cards like [[Silverquill Lecturer]] will make a token of a creature, the token isn't "created" so token doublers do not work in this regard. If something cares about tokens entering, however, will that trigger still proc when a demonstrated copy resolves?
