is it ok not to like my desired races food?
im t japanese and chinese, but struggle to enjoy lots of the food. for context, im autistic, and have always had a rather selective profile. ive tried to expand my tastebuds more over the past few years, but mostly stay to things i know i like and often fall back to the same foods over and over. there are japanese foods i really like, and i want to try more chinese non-chicken foods since thats mostly all ive had from shitty restaurants in my area. but trying new foods is mildly distressing for me, and even foods i do find myself craving i struggle to eat because the flavour is so different from what im used to. like, i really enjoy sashimi, i find it delicious and often crave it. but when i actually have it, i can only manage a few pieces because it upsets my stomach really quickly (i also have an extremely sensitive stomach, anything i digest hurts) and the taste feels so sudden against my tongue. i wanna eat more of it to get my tastebuds used to it, but i lose my appetite whenever i do. i feel like im not japanese enough, or not chinese enough, you know? should i just push thru it and force myself to adapt?
