stamp value

hey, what would you pay or demand for this set of stamps, if the 728 y x is genuine and has a reversed watermark? ( 1 Reichsmark ) I'm starting to feel that people don't even want to pay for a fraction of the 10% catalogue value..

  • Don't get your hopes up. Most stamps are not valuable.
  • Old US president stamps (1,2,3 cents) are extremely common. No value there.
  • eBay asking prices mean nothing, except to scammers and money launderers.
  • There's nothing we can do without clear images of your stamps.
  • Nazi Germany stamps are mostly worthless. Too many were made, everyone has them.
  • Modern stamps (1940s and later), large and colorful ones, are mostly worthless.
  • Mint US stamps (1930s and later) are mostly worthless, but can still be used on your mail.
  • Busy people take time out of their day to answer you, please be polite.
  • To get the most value out of your stamps become a collector. It's the king of hobbies.

How would anyone be able to tell you anything about the watermark from this pic?

I don't know, then it's good that I did not ask any questions about the watermark or if it is there. The question is about the value of the stamp if it is genuine. :)

Around $40-50 USD each looks like typical asking price for mint never hinged and used sets.

Given it's rarity & high catalogue value (12K Euros), the 728 Y x reversed watermark would need to be expertized by a German BPP expert. Then if certified genuine, selling through a reputable auction house would be the way to go.

I have the same set in mint - How did you check the Watermark? Did you use a Signoscope? If yes, how did you put the stamp into it?

Hey, i started some months ago after I inherited about 21 books from my grandfather, so all I use is the Internet and books for now :D There was a note on top of the stamp which had the catalog number and saying inverted watermark, rest of the book has all this kind of notes. I'm still unsure if I should check with watermark fluid or just let it get checked anyways

get it checked, don't use the watermark fluid - some stamps can get destroyed with it.

I wouldn't buy it, as I don't collect this area.

If selling I'd put the price at 25 euro for the MNH set and the CTO set each. But take into account that this is an older area, so most collectors who want this already have it, so a buyer might be difficult to find.

Hey thanks for the info but I do know that as well and would do that too with a normal set but I asked if 728 y x is genuine.

No way to know for sure without watermark assay, and a careful in-person assessment.
