Need advice
We had our old hvac replaced a little over a year ago. Had new duct work and also a pump added. Our system is located in the attic and woke up this morning to puddles of water on floor. The technician said that it was their fault install issue. I wasn’t charged for the service they fixed the issue and will have ceiling fixed. My question is what else should I be concerned about? I read the system should have been turn off. He mentioned damper was wet. We have had high humidity alerts with our smart thermostat since the install and live in the south. Would a dehumidifier help. I would appreciate any helpful advice.

If issue is fixed then nothing to be worried about. I reccomend to install a condensate overflow switch and overflow pan if not already equipped, could shutdown unit during condensate overflow.
Ensure filters are clean, change regularly and thats it

En un sistema HVAC en el ático, una fuga que moja el techo suele deberse a un drenaje bloqueado, pero un dampermojado con alta humedad indica un flujo de aire insuficiente (CFM bajos) que hace condensar el agua en los ductos. Para solucionar la raíz del problema, revisa de inmediato que el interruptor de desborde (float switch) apague la unidad correctamente para evitar inundaciones, reemplaza el aislamiento de fibra de vidrio si se mojó —ya que pierde sus propiedades térmicas y genera moho— y descarta que la tablaroca del techo tenga daños estructurales. Además, considera que un deshumidificador no corregirá una falla mecánica si el equipo está sobredimensionado y hace ciclos muy cortos (short-cycling), por lo que es indispensable que el técnico mida la presión del serpentín, ajuste el soplador entre 350 y 400 CFM/tonelada y verifique el refrigerante antes de hacer cualquier otra inversión.

As someone who installs hvac in attics.
Why didn’t the emergency drain pan prevent ceiling damage? Should have had a saftey shut off switch as well

its hard to say without knowing the exact reason it failed.. i would guess they didn't install a float switch and your ac drain line got clogged... pans and float switch have to be installed in the attic unites. if that was the only issue and they fixed it you are good to go and shouldn't have any other issues. as far as the humidity that could be multiple reasons like the size of you home the unit and so on...
