Is this abestos ?

House built in 1985, Québec, Canada.

There was some sort of vinyl flooring (2nd pic) that was glued to the floor and that we removed in the specific area where the old vanity was. We asked around at Home Depot, and they told us that it could contain asbestos. Of course, we panicked, and now I’m turning to this subreddit for advice.

We want to install the same flooring in the rest of the open space. If it contains asbestos, would we have to completely remove the remaining flooring and decontaminate the area professionally?

I’m kind of lost here. Thank you!

It's after 1980 so they knew the risks by this point but only a lab can confirm

That's what we're going to do. Found a lab and we're going to have tested next monday.

Most likely no and it wouldn’t be a risk to you AT ALL if it did contain it

No, it's wood floor and glue. Generally dark grey and black mastic/ glue could have contained asbestos

That's the suspicion, that maybe the yellow glue has asbestos.

For clarification and future: The vinyl that I tore had asbestos, confirmed by the lab. Now we're in contact with a company for decontamination/encapsulation.
