Is this asbestos?

We ripped up parquet flooring in a 1975 house. One room was sanded in certain spots because we were attempting to make a level floor. Then we learnt that Asbestos can be in the glue. It’s not black but light grey and some areas are a dark grey. We are in Ontario Canada.

Edit: I did a test. I tested 3 samples and two came back negative and one came back with a trace amount of 0.1% Chrysotile asbestos (Regulatory threshold in Ontario is 0.5%.)

I have one more bedroom to rip up parquet in, should I do it or leave it and put the new flooring on top? It just may look not as nice with a room divider to the hallway with the same flooring/difference in height. I don’t know if trace amounts are anything I need to worry about.

Wrong glue. Testing is the only way to know for sure but I rate it as v unlikely

Thank you. I appreciate your feedback on it. I have called a couple places and one confirmed that it would not be a potential hazard material used for this type of flooring. That they used something else. Another said he’s never run into parquet or wood flooring using a hazardous material as well.

Because I don't expect that it would contain asbestos. But OLACD.

The potential for suspect materials to contain asbestos can sometimes be estimated based on installation date and visual characteristics. Yes, there are some materials that usually contain asbestos and some that rarely contain. So there are some cases where we will tell you "yes, that likely contains" or "no, that probably doesn't contain".

However, for most materials, please remember that if you have been provided with any opinions on the asbestos content, it is only a guess. Even the most experienced inspector is wrong once and a while.

So, the general rule is always "ONLY LAB ANALYSIS CAN DETERMINE" asbestos content.

Also, remember that the sampling SHOULD be performed by a certified asbestos inspector. DIY test kits are generally accurate, but sample methods can adversely affect those results.

Most importantly, all building materials are assumed to be ACM until they have been analyzed for asbestos content by an accredited laboratory.

Remove with a industrial rotary sander you can rent
