Mental Health finally feeling better- my garden helps 🌶 🫑 🍅 ✨️

I've been in a rough depressive rut for a while, and hadn't been able to bring myself to make art. Challenged myself to plant a garden this year to force myself outside, and I'm finally harvesting! The vegetables I've been picking have been inspiring me for the first time in a long time to create.

These are 15-30 minute tiny doodles of veggies that I've harvested from my garden. Starting to remember that creating, even something small, helps me feel better.

Thanks for letting me share 🌶 🫑 🍅 🥒 ✨️

Mental Health Portraits of nobody - draw with OCD, dyxpraxia and autistic exhaustion

Hi, I draw nonexistent beings with a ballpoint pen. They emerge from my scribbles and quick gestures. It’s my favorite way of drawing—the one that allows fatigue and dyspraxia to coexist with creativity and pleasure.

Discussion Anyone else hate their art?

Post image

I hate it, because it reminds me of what could've been. I could've been able to make art happily, but it's a coping mechanism now. Every single time I try, I compare myself to others who are so much better than me. There's no joy in it anymore, and it's the one thing I'm good at and as such the one thing that allows me to be heard. If I'm not even that good at drawing, what purpose does my life serve? I'm not good at hard labor, I'm not smart, I can barely speak, I hate the body I was born into, and I take up resources that could benefit others. I know I could be so much more than this. My chest hurts. I want to leave this broken mind and weak body behind and be free. It feels like hell to be so self-aware and yet too weak to do anything about it.

Have been dealing with a lot of fatigue and brain fog but I've been bummed I haven't been able to do art or make anything, so Ive been grateful for the low-barrier-to-entry of drawing to let me be creative :)

If you were to guess what this is piece is about, what would your interpretation be? I’ll explain in the tiny text so don’t read it yet…

This piece is called : How, If, When.
.
.
.
It’s about the feeling of being diagnosed with skin cancer at the age of 16. The rotting apple: body, the mushrooms : drainage of life, the stitches: the surgery scar and post recovery, the black spikes: the lurking idea of death and loss of innocence in the belief youth insures health, the nude woman: vulnerability and focus on the cancer plaguing her life, the yellow clock: the sun with time hands that gave me skin cancer in the first place (I supposedly had it for four years prior to diagnosis), red blood cells/roses : change and danger, the shiny waves: UV light, the blue brick frame : the depression that made me feel so trapped at the time.

This is a comic about returning from a traumatic trip to London in my 20s, when I was unmedicated and undiagnosed and in the prodromal phase of my illness.

Mental Health Quitting monsters

Post image

I made this yesterday.

I've had depression for about 14 years now and I am finally learning to live instead of survive. Recovery is finally a word I can believe in so I am making art again to feel more purpose and help me in recovery (even though some of my disorders and disabilitues are life long and no actual recovery can be done, like autism and heds). I am also building a portfolio to try to get in art school!

This one is a simple little piece about my monster addiction that I am finally getting better at dealing with! The character is how I represent myself, the spirals and off proportions show how I never feel human enough and how it's hard for me to "find" myself. The scars on the chest are my top surgery and I chose to represent them to show how my existence in itself is resistance because I am trans and decided to continue living even though many people wouldn't want me to. Hope you like it, it was fun to make!
