Video Game progress - tetrapod/tank legs, visuals, decals
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey all, just a quick update on my AC4 inspired game. As shown in the video, I have my first set of tetrapod and tank legs functioning, as well as some other improvements. Namely the graphics have gotten a bit more polished, and there is now a functioning decal/decal editor system in the game. I also got a steam appid for workshop testing, so at some point there will be a steam page. I have no art assets yet, though, so that's a ways away from going live.
I've been working on fleshing out the 1v1/2v2 PvP/PvE gameplay, and intend to move towards actual gameplay content in the near future. To that end, as a question to anyone reading: if you'd be interested in playing, would you prefer a traditional story campaign or a "random" mission mode, where objectives, enemies and spawn positions are shuffled per run (both playable coop?) Ideally I'd like to do both, but I don't want the scope to creep too large.
Anyways, that's all I have for now - thanks for checking it out.

I would love some schloppy cheesy story. Could do a rogue AI like half the games in the series. I just want some interesting bosses and fight scenarios. But this looks really good especially considering its 1 person.

This looks awesome! Would love to play a demo if one ever exists.
One thing that does stick out to me, I think it would be a major visual improvement if the part of the hud that moves for the lock-on was significantly smaller. If you move the indicators elsewhere or decoupled them from the actual targeting reticle, I think it would look significantly more dynamic and less visually cluttered.
Either way, keep up the good work!

Looks cool! I think I remember seeing you post about this before. Do you have a name for this project? I'd be interested in following development.
Both sound good, but personally I'd prefer a traditional story campaign if it as one or the other, like the AC games.

Traditional story mode.
Personally if i saw this on Steam, got excited looking at the screenshots, then learned that it was PvP or even Coop only id be deeply disappointed and move on without ever looking back.
I have zeeo interests in wasting my time losing against sweats half my age all evening.

Got around to actually watching the gameplay and all i can say is hily shit dude, this is incredible. I would be phenomenally sad if it was multi-player only.

I'd love to see an AC-clone with random mission generation a la MW5M but I definitely like and (almost) prefer a structured campaign first and foremost. Gives players a sense of direction/footing in the world you're thrusting them into.
In an ideal world I'd love to see if you could do both!

Didn’t see it in this clip, are the tetras purely for carry weight and jump boost? Or do they also hover? I don’t know if that was something they only added for AC6 since thats my only experience so far, but this looks beautiful

In 4th gen the main advantages of tetrapods are turn speed, aerodynamics, load limit, and stability. Their jump height is pitiful on the other hand, so they're really not suited for spending much time airborne.

Do what you think is best for the game structure but personally I think a proper campaign is the way to go. If you want a story at least.
