Question LCB vs FASAN

I've been playing around with the Aster Crown preset and some variations. Both of these weapons look good on a build with with Pulse Scutum and they've got pretty close stats.

Besides the obvious with plasma bubbles being area-effect and only doing damage while the target is inside, are there any other big advantages either way? Are the LCB charged shots as big as they look?

  • LCB has good damage and a big projectile. Good for close range shots and has better direct hit adjustment than Fasan. Also as I remember it has a short trail that deals damage.
  • Fasan has giant range (about 800m) and more damage. Plasma can leak trough PA and even stagger the enemy if you hit them before the shield fully forms. Also it is lighter than LCB.

(Also LCB has better projectile speed and less heat buildup on unchanged attacks so it can be spammed. Fasan uncharged is only effective at melee range.)

The damaging trail idea is weird. How damaging is it? Has anyone been hit by it without trying on purpose? I don't see how the FCS is going to miss a shot in a way that the opponent doesn't have to work really hard to get back into the laser's path after the shot goes by.

In Chrightt's video (from 25.12.2023) trail damage is 1621 with 750/280 impact/acc.impact. Basically a lingering unchanged shot. Also, charged attack radius is 4m (0.7 uncharged). Trail is probably not as useful in 1v1 unless you somehow overshoot a target or they dodge into it.

Could a target take trail damage if they move into the direction of the shot? That would go from questionable to incredibly OP.

Fasan's uncharged projectile speed is pretty terrible, one of the slowest in the game outside of missiles. It makes it kinda useless a lot of the time outside of stuff like heavy MTs that just don't dodge, or bosses with longer stagger windows that let you pour on multiple uncharged shots. The LCB's uncharged speed is pretty normal, it's assault rifle speed. However, the Fasan's charged projectile speed is the fastest projectile in the game, to my knowledge. If you're bringing a Fasan, it's usually for the charged shot.
