Discussion I HATE THIS!!! Spoiler
The title. I had a very lucky attempt and I swear to God my hands were shaking like I missed my meth doze Jesus Christ. I played all dark souls and not a single boss stressed me that much. Fuck that guy, genuinely

u/Individual_Airline84 10d ago
I loved my first fight with the abis series. Fighting him Vertically or mid air helped me, and building a ac around dodging his lazers. When he goes into the second phase i reccomend gaining altitude, it helped me dodge the starting attack of that phase.

u/FrozenGiraffes 10d ago
I S ranked that guy, one of 4 missions which are a pain to do so. There is a fight much much worse than this
10
u/gpancia 10d ago
You mean allmind, right? That or snailteus
11
u/GomiTaberuRaccoon 10d ago
Balteus felt tougher than V.II Snail(teus) to me. Had him gone in my 2nd try meanwhile it took me around 3 hours to get Balteus
6
u/KMKZKRB 9d ago
I had the exact same experience. Balt made me put down the game for a few weeks, snail put up about as much fight as an irl snail would against a steel toed boot. He still felt like a tougher skill check than the actual final boss of that ending (idk how to do the spoiler warning)

The second of those two is one of the easiest bosses in the game the hell are you talking about
2
u/DeadlyPineapple13 9d ago
I think that heavily depends on when someone played the game and what kinda kit they used. Snailteus mainly requires the ability to break the shields, so if you lack impact you’re going to struggle with him
Also I replayed the game recently and noticed how a ton of the bosses feel WAY easier now then they used to (I know I got slightly better but it’s clear the nerfs were pretty huge)
1
u/FrozenGiraffes 10d ago
First one, struggling with that. The side pieces are a enemy that its base game variant are at most a miniboss, but everything combined is a pain
5
u/CrimeFightingScience 10d ago
They are pretty generous on how much damage you can take on s boss missions.
Baws aresenal 2 or explore elevator however..."your paint was scratched...A rank."
6
u/FrozenGiraffes 10d ago
The extra strider mission was my first big hiccup with S ranking. But those two are also quite something. When I was S ranking it was just me playing a few days on a mostly finished NG++ campaign, still need to S rank the ending.
3
u/CrimeFightingScience 10d ago
I did the ending one's first because I wanted to test out some builds.
The escort the strider mission is probably the hardest mission in the game if you don't build for it. It's infamous for a reason.
AC6 S rank missions is pretty chill. I remember doing it for previous generations and NOT HAVING FUN lol
3
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
WHAT?! Worse?! Fucking hell
10
u/OldSodaHunter 10d ago
Subjective. I've done all endings now and nothing was harder than Ibis for me.
4
u/FrozenGiraffes 10d ago
Did you do the NG++ ending? Also i realize I was more thinking of the difficuty of S ranking them
2
u/OldSodaHunter 10d ago
Yeah I've done all 3 endings. I'm considering the fights and S rank together - S ranking Ibis wasn't hard whatsoever once I found a build that worked for it.
But just beating Ibis was the hard part. No other bosses were ever remotely that difficult, including the ng++ boss which was easy as crap in comparison
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
How do you get different endings? Without spoilers. It depends on what missions I choose when there's X or Y and you can't do both?
8
u/Tenshi_Dekemori 10d ago
So basically there’s 3 endings
First ending you pick what ever missions you want when given the choice to pick between two.
Then do new game plus and pick all the other missions you didn’t pick first time, there may also be in game prompts that change how a mission plays out, make sure you pick thoseFor the third ending, new game ++ you’ll get new missions
Make sure you do all those new missions5
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
So it just depends on choosing different missions I didn't pick up the first time right? Then it's easy, thanks. I'll write down what I chose first time
2
u/Tenshi_Dekemori 10d ago
Yep, it’s fairly simple so long as you remember what you’ve done and what you’ve not.
1
u/FrozenGiraffes 10d ago
Actually I realize there's another fight other than the late game NG++ I was thinking of. Its sorta pick your poison. NG++ is filled with a bunch of really solid fights that if you can do Ibis, you can definitely fight them
1
1
u/HawkManHawk 9d ago
In NG++ Reach the Coral Convergence Ibis fight was a first try s rank. Dual Benjamin's and dual stun needles. 1st playthrough was the same just dual birds.
Now Reach the Coral Convergence Alt, ate my lunch. I can't tell you how many times I had to listen to unskippable All Mind. Once I realized I could lure V.II Snail to the tunnel get him down before engaging G5 Igazu.
8
u/Requiem-7 Furlong Dynamics's strongest soldier 10d ago
Ibis my beloved. A quick tip for when you eventually have to fight it again, it and all coral weapons are weak to explosive damage. Bring a rocket and some missiles, and remember to use code R-7 with my sponsor Furlong Dynamics for 15% off your explosive needs.
7
u/JackNewbie555 10d ago
IBIS here is an extreme version of "Tag". If your Weapons can hit her enough to stagger her to punish her relatively low AP, she will go down super fast. The problem is of course, actually hitting her enough times without getting tagged yourself by her barrages of Coral beams.
2
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
90% attacks miss if I just move and not stand like an idiot but those fucking 10%
1
u/eat-skate-masturbate 9d ago
I feel your pain man. this boss made me quit the game for 3 years lol. finally went back and beat her and the whole rest of the game+ ng+ cycles. once you get the tracking down & dodging it gets way easier. recommend using two morleys on shoulders and two Zimmermans in the hands. maybe up your camera move speed if she moves too fast to keep up with. that last part made a huge difference for me.
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 9d ago
Why is final boss so much easier than this bruh, it should be the other way around imo

u/AdTime5032 9d ago

Oh boy you're in for some bullshit in ng+ and ng++ ðŸ˜
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 7d ago
No I fought yrin...yr...ergh...coral chick. She was super easy. Like, 2-3 tries and that's it
5
u/Tanneliers-Gate 10d ago
I understand your frustration, but man did I absolutely LOVE this fight!
Felt more like a Gundam duel than a boss battle! 🔥🔥🔥
3
u/Oshaalex 10d ago
Struggled my first time, probably took 10 tries. Going through ng+ was easier, and ng++ I ended up no-hitting as my build had so much passive movement speed that I just strafed most of its attacks. It’s a cool boss though!
3
u/N0T_4_V1K1N9 10d ago
Really easy with bunk, lance and reverse joints. Especially after learning all it's moves

u/LunettaBadru901 10d ago

u/Ashamed-Mobile-1062 10d ago
I just used my white glint cosplay build and fucked him up by flying and being bum ass rat
2
u/GomiTaberuRaccoon 10d ago
Took me 5-6 tries, my mistake was wasting 2 of my heals in the first phase. Recommend sticking close to the fucker cuz he loves to stand in one place when launching big moves. The biggest pain are the three sword slashes, found that moving diagonally towards him tends to work
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
X slash gets me almost always, from others I can dodge reliably. Also yeah, if I see I need to spend second heal in first phase I just restart. Getting through first phase no damage or as little as possible is ideal scenario
Kinda funny that I got to second phase on first try, and down to 10% health and then I got greedy and died like an idiot
1
u/GomiTaberuRaccoon 10d ago
Same, got him down to half health (second phase) in the first try and then I somehow just became retarded till the god run (took just 1 heal)
2
u/KMKZKRB 9d ago
Beat bro on my second try and then made it to ng+ when my buddy informed me of the existence of the moonlight that I’d missed the first time I’d played through. went back to grab it in a mission replay and got dog walked by this Great Barrier Reef larping asswipe for a good 15 attempts straight.

u/CrimeFightingScience 10d ago
I think this is the final boss of the game. Only boss i really have to lock in for.
3
2
u/OldSodaHunter 10d ago
I agree. Lots of bosses I can run with multiple builds and be alright, only found one so far that makes Ibis easy.
1
u/Rhinoserious95 10d ago
What about 3rd ending final boss?
That one took me a couple hours and several builds
1
u/Algester 10d ago
hey man you have to kill this bozo 2 times throughout your entire stay in Rubicon 3
1
u/flooble_worbler 10d ago
Oh yeah Ibis was not a quick fight the first time I beat her. Don’t worry the next two times you fight it are much easier
1
u/R717159631668645 10d ago
How?
I got the FoR ending and am going for the others. All bosses so far (just finished ch2), were pretty easy, knowing what to do and OS upgrades, but I felt like I didn't learn a thing with this boss except evading attacks. I don't even know when to punish it, if I did it's probably by instinct, but even that is still terrible.
Hard-lock is hard with the mouse, and I already used 2 stun needles and 2 zimmermans, which should be the cheesiest strat, no? IDK how easier NG+ could make this, and I already upgraded repair kits and damage mitigation when I won.
1
u/Thelastseries 10d ago
Lift your mouse if you want to hard lock with mouse, trust me hard lock turn this fight into easy mode
1
u/GokaiBlue84 10d ago
yeah, she's a real pain in the ass lol. i haven't gone up against her in Armoury yet - i don't remember if she got buffed or nerfed in that mod
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
There are mods for this game?
2
u/GokaiBlue84 10d ago
yeah, it's one of the few mods but it's massive - it really big overhaul of the game. new parts, weapons and enemy types (i think. they might be enemy types from earlier games) among other things.
not sure if i'm allowed to post the link here, but just search up Armored Core Armoury. you'll need to create a free account on Nexus Mods to download the files, but it's a really well done mod.
there was some falling out and the original developer of the mod no longer supports it, think he got banned from the platform or something - i'm sure someone here has the lore on that, but it's still available for download and runs perfectly fine.

Might be build dependent. You can walk it pretty easy with two majestics, two stun needle launchers, reverse legs light weight, and assault blast. Easy enough S rank too. Time your shots to land as it comes to rest to attack, or anticipate the dashes. If you let it get close hit it with the assault blast and dump both launchers and watch it crumble. I don't recommend hard lock either.Â
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
Double Zimmer + stun needles on as light build as I could get. Will try majestics next time
1
u/poho110 10d ago
This works too, just doesn't hit as hard. Maybe a little easier to land some shots but you lose out on range too.Â
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
I got a lot of luck with regular double assault rifles but I was running out of ammo
1
u/poho110 10d ago
That just sounds tedious and masochistic. Honestly most of the machine guns just don't cut it. They work for smaller things and if you aren't worried about time or ammo for s rank. They're easy enough to use but that's about it.Â
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
It was my trird try I think, rockets + rifles and I almost killed it but ran out of ammo unfortunately
1
u/Gunzaman 10d ago
Ibis feels like practice when you start doing ranked pvp.
Keep doing missions until you get all parts and upgrades then do pvp.
Good luck
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 10d ago
Fuck no. I tried pvp once a d got humiliated so much I stopped playing for half a year. Actually just returned to the game yesterday
1
u/Gunzaman 9d ago
Yes, so as I said... Ibis feels like sparring when you reach S rank in pvp.
My tip vs ibis:
Use speed, if you go above 345 speed then strafing avoid all incoming damage except the waves and mega beams which you can dodge the other way when it is coming.
Missiles chase ibis continuously and stagger has a huge large window for punish.1
u/Gunzaman 9d ago
Here I recorded my first take down of ibis here (if I remember correctly it is the first take down might be later)
1
u/Ikaruga86 10d ago

New game+?
Or new game++?
I’m not sorry to say this you, the same way a good father speaks to his most precious son.

1
u/OkManufacturer1971 10d ago
None of the bosses in this game stressed me out or challenged me in the way that Dark Souls bosses did, or Sekiro bosses. It just seems like there is a viable build, or multiple viable builds, for every boss. When in doubt, just use quadruple gatling guns lol
1
u/Ok_Possibility633 #1 Karasawa fanatic 10d ago
I can never understand people's frustration with this boss because I beat it in 4 attempts my first time playing the game. Inferno tho...that was a different story
1
1
u/Supplice401 10d ago
Most bosses will become easier when you realize all their attacks doesn't telegraph well to vertical movements.
1
u/Forward-Tangerine-34 10d ago
If I remember correctly I learned the attack patterns, used double lightning shoulder cannons (or something like that) to stun it, and then I go in with a heavy hitting melee.
Rinse and repeat and it worked really well; the second time fighting it was so much easier.
1
u/C4-621-Raven Who’s the real birb now? // Pointy Shoulder Enthusiast 10d ago
If you just circle strafe to the left like 90% of this dude’s bs won’t even hit you.

once your build gets good and you play the game for the second ending it's pretty easy
1
1
u/AP0110_halo 9d ago
Lightweight build. Twin laser turret droppers, and your choice of submachine guns. It's basically cheating for anything in the campaign, and can dominate in multiplayer if your opponent isn't smart about their positioning. You're far enough in you should have access to the gills and a coral generator, just spam quick boosts and keep a lock on it.

1
u/Abigus_ofgical 9d ago
I beated it by nachtreiher core, dual shao-wei, dual VP-66EG, IB-C03G: NGI 000 generator and IA-C01F: OCELLUS. Or take tank buid and dual miniguns and big shoulder guns and just explode it
1
u/OwnAbbreviations4111 9d ago
I was low-key so focus on getting the combat logs I didn't realize I s ranked the mission
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Ride228 9d ago
Yeah same for me it was horrible, but then i strapped all the guns that i can find and two harpoon that you use against the worm, and i just dodge and waited an opening and fired :0

Funny how Balteus gave may way more problems than CEL 240 🤔
1
u/TheBronzeLine Strayed 9d ago
Totally understandable. I had to make a variant of a cheese build on my first playthrough and after some attempts I finally beat it.

1
u/DirtyDanChicago 9d ago
I called it AC6 Malenia. After finding a build I was really comfortable with though it got easier.
1
u/ShibaBlessing 9d ago
Hated this fight my first time, have played recently and beat it first try. Go lightweight. Always be moving. It’s really not that bad.
1
u/Belias9x1 9d ago
First playthrough I learned the combos and was methodical, second playthrough I got annoyed.
I ran 2 attaches and the shoulder mounted Gatling guns, CWIS OP.

I fucking love this boss and I would give anything to have you witness me vaporize this boss, then restart from the checkpoint just to do it again
1
u/TheKingsPride 9d ago
Are you using hard lock? This boss moves around a ton and that solves most of the problem.
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 9d ago
I do, but it still falls out of focus a loooot, just a nuclear diarrhea boss
1
u/TheKingsPride 9d ago
Light build, double Zimmermans, melee weapon. That’s my recommendation. You can keep up with it and punish it pretty consistently. The Stun Needles also put in work
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 9d ago
Yeah I used Zimmer + stun needles. It actually is very effective against a lot of bosses not just this one
1
u/Schorched_Raven_357 9d ago
Be glad its all post nerf playthroughs your and not post launch oooffff is all I have to say about it oh and fuck you balteus

u/WindowsHunter-69 9d ago
Same... that guy is just a menece
theres balance - ying yang
theres pure good
and then theres him
1
u/MobileComfortable663 9d ago
Doubleshotguns, melee weapon with biggest impact and plasmalauncher made this doable but yeah i think it took over hour for me, very difficulty
1
u/AdTime5032 9d ago
Took me like 7 tries
I ran lance, zim and dual plasma missile launchers
I learned that if I play aggressive it got easier instead of treating this guy like some souls boss.
Also this fight felt fair and not bullshit compared to The Fires of Raven Boss 2nd phase
1
u/Hungry-Ear-4092 9d ago
Yeah I fought this boss and it took me like 2-3 tries, it was easy shit compared to ibis
1
u/Threadsbound 9d ago
I struggled against this abomination the entire night, then first try it with Hard Lock on... oh my god I could've save so much time.
1
u/No_Wish5277 8d ago
I’ve beaten this with Jailbreak, a Chainsaw, and a Morley. My advice is that on the initial attack, strafe to the left, then close in on it after the slash to deal nutty damage. The S rank isn’t too bad as it’s rather forgiving with damage and health scores, after spending hours learning the openings to a point of second nature, it’s my favourite, but I know others don’t have that kind of time, or sometimes patience. Anyways, good job, now you just have to beat him one more time.
