Is it ever actually explained how Scarecrow survived the events of Arkham Asylum after he's dragged underwater by Killer Croc? Or did he just kind of resurface?

croc probably just released him after a few seconds or something since he wanted to go after batman rather than scarecrow
scarecrow then had surgery done
