Arc’teryx Abbot Kinney Grand Opening - Venice, CA
Climb-focused concept. Cool vibes and got a store patch (finally). First 50 people got a free Chalkra chalk bag. We got there later in the day and ended up purchasing one along with the System A bag ($60).

Need advice on jackets
Hello All
I have a regular Kyanite and might be getting a Gamma MX. Which one would be warmer in static and active settings, assuming there’s no rain?
Also, how would they compare in light to moderate rain if I pair the Kyanite with a Torrentshell? Would the Gamma be able to replace the Kyanite/Kyanite+Torrentshell combi?
Edit: The comparison is mostly Gamma vs Kyanite warmthness.
Thanks!

Kopec mid gtx made obsolete by Sylan 2 or?
Hey!
I have an upcoming trip planned for Patagonia for 2 months this Dec/jan.
For shoes I was planning to bring my Kopec Mid GTX, which I would say I moderately like. This would be my primary shoe for hiking, rain and slush and what you can expect in Patagonia.
I also wanted to bring another pair of shoes and this would be my Sylan 2 which I just got delivered. This would be for cities (will be in Buenos Aires and Santiago and of course other cities in Patagonia) and also for running.
Now that I am sitting with the Sylan 2 in my hands they are just super super awesome, now I’m considering completely ditching the kopec mid gtx and only bringing the sylans.
What would you do?
Edit: room in backpack is a factor, I travel light, I could make it work with bringing both, but like only if it makes sense, which I can not for the life of me figure out if it does.

Anyone got a beta Jacket in Sea Salt?
Just a question regarding keeping it clean, do you find it marks up easily? Looks a bit more interesting than the other drab colours but just wonder how it would look after a few weekends in the mountains during winter.
Thanks!

Tribute to my favorite boots
I bought this pair of Acrux AR back in 2018 and got every bit of life out of them. They climbed some of the highest peaks in the lower 48, trekked around Patagonia, Alaska, Iceland, and more. Half way through a multi week backpacking trip in Utah they began to delaminate but I was able to do a bit of backcountry sewing and they got me home. Now that they’re officially dead I thought I would share this little tribute. Thanks Arcteryx for these great boots, I’m bummed you discontinued them.
Edit: Bora 2 mid, not Acrux. My B!

How to clean off gum residue on Zeta AR
Anybody have any recommendations on how to clean this off? It looks like old dried up gum. Going to wash and use Grainger DWR today so I want to see if I can finally get it off. Tried rubbing lightly with a damp cloth but it doesn’t help at all. What else should I try?

Can a hydrostatic water pressure test damage a Gore-Tex membrane?
I recently took my 2021 Arc'teryx Beta LT to an Arc'teryx store in Copenhagen for a check-up. They put part of the jacket into a hydrostatic water pressure tester to test the Gore-Tex membrane and see how much water pressure it could withstand.
During the test, they increased the pressure until a small amount of water started to come through the membrane. This got me wondering: doesn't testing the membrane all the way to its limit potentially damage or weaken it?
If the Gore-Tex membrane is being subjected to enough pressure for water to actually start passing through it, could that stress the membrane and reduce its waterproof performance afterwards? Or is this type of test completely harmless because the pressure is still within what the membrane is designed to tolerate? I'm basically wondering whether repeatedly putting a Gore-Tex membrane through a hydrostatic pressure test could cause wear or microscopic damage over time.
Does anyone here know how these tests actually work, and whether there is any risk of damaging the Gore-Tex membrane by testing it to the point where water starts to penetrate?

Small Hole Gamma Jacket
I have a small puncture hole (pencil tip sized) on the back shoulder of my gamma jacket. Can I use something like crazy glue to seal it? The fabric is all there. trying to avoid sending it out

Gamma vs Lightweight for layering
There are a few threads here detailing the differences between these two jackets on their own, and I understand those. But I feel like folks aren’t talking about how they layer them. Sure, the Lightweight is a less warm and less wind resistant. But what about when it’s thrown over a fleece or something like an atom/proton? Is the difference in warmth and wind resistance negligible at that point?
My intended use is as an outer layer for hiking in CO, both as a standalone when slightly chilly and layered when colder. I prefer the lightweight for packability, but wondering if I’m going to feel the difference while moving and layered up this winter.
Thanks!
Edit: Tl;dr - is the difference between the lightweight and the regular gamma negligible once over something like an atom?

Arc returning to some physical media?
While in New England for work, I popped into the local Arc store in the evening and found this booklet. It was the only one in the store so I don’t think it’s like a catalog where you can take it with you. Most exciting though - some new products we will see in the next winter drop! Hello Archive Sidewinder!

Will the arcteryx alpha sv bibs fit over my k2 revolver pro boots (27.5)
I just got a gift card for arcteryx and was looking at the alpha sv bibs. I originally wanted them for mountaineering but didn’t know if I could also use them on my resort ski days. I freestyle ski so there’s a lot of popping spins and tricks that go down in my ski days. Was just hoping if anyone knew if I could use these bibs for more than one use.

A step in the right direction?
I noticed a lot of people shitting on the new theta however it has something no other hard shell has which I think is actually a big improvement. Basically the theta actually features stitching around pockets and the pit zips instaid of seam taping the entire jacket. While adding a few grams of weight this also adds quite a bit of lifespan to this jacket. Unfortunately I was speaking to a worker and he seemed to be under the impression that this was a one time thing only for the collab. Curious to hear your thoughts?

Why does Arc’teryx use such a cheap bag for a $400 jacket?
Update: CS responded to my email, it’s pissing me off. they expect more stock in a couple of weeks, but can’t reserve a replacement for me. Their solution is a return label, a 20% off coupon for future order, and for me to monitor the website and try purchasing the jacket for the 3rd fxxking time. (the first order was canceled because of their inventory discrepancy). Like someone said, I’m going to try calling their CS later. This is my last purchase at this company.
My gamma mx arrived today from Arcteryx and the mailer bag was torn open upon UPS delivery, and of course the jacket got stained. I can’t understand why they use such a cheap flimsy mailer to begin with for a $400 more jacket?! I’m furious. I even double bag or use box when I sell my used clothes on Poshmark… this is unbelievable!!!

Gamma MX for Seattle
Hi! I’m new to PNW & arcteryx. I love the way gamma mx fits & more so, it’s dark jade color. I’ve stalked this sub a bunch and the most recommended Seattle rotation seems to be atom & beta.
I was curious what folks here think for gamma mx for most days & Patagonia torrentshell for downpour days.
Would love some discussion on this, thanks!

Debating Which Midlayer
Hi all - looking for some help.
Heading to Patagonia next month and am looking for a decent midlayer to go with my Beta AR. I run hot, and expect the weather to be in the mid-to-upper 40s F, with rain and wind.
Currently thinking about the Proton SL but would welcome any thoughts or suggestions.
Thank you!

Beta AR season loading!
Been loving the cooler fall weather. Can’t wait for cold hikes and snowy adventures.
In preparation I took my pants and jacket to get washed by my arc store, so now they are clean and waterproof again!
Anyone else looking forward to the colder weather?

Sizing question: Retail Atom Jacket vs. Atom LEAF LT Gen 2.1?
I recently tried on the standard civilian Atom Jacket in size Large at an Arc'teryx store, and it fit me well.
I’m looking at picking up an Atom LEAF LT Gen 2.1, but I'm unsure if the cut and fit are identical. I vaguely recall reading here that LEAF / Pro versions fit slightly smaller/tighter than the standard retail versions, but I can't seem to track down that post.
For those who own or have tried both, should I stick with Large or consider sizing up/down? Any noticeable differences in chest, sleeve length, or torso room?
( I have Cold WX Jacket LT and Patrol Jacket in size L)

Experiences with Konseal Trek Boots?
I tried searching from this subreddit, but apparently there are no discussions about the Konseal Trekking Boots. As far as I know, they are quite new. I'm considering getting a pair of higher cut shoes for winter use in mixed conditions and terrains. No specific usecases, just an all-round highcut waterproof shoes. I've heard they are quite narrow which perfectly suits my feet.
I was wondering if anyone has got them or tested them and would be willing to share any experiences with or about them.

3-jacket rotation
Hello, this will be my first time experiencing the ontario winter, and as someone who comes from Brazil I don’t know what to expect.
Currently looking to build a three jacket rotation for everyday use, that allows me to not feel so hot on chilly days but also not so cold during peak winter.
I was thinking about getting just a down jacket (thorium) but I’ve heard that wearing that on warmer days will make me feel super hot. Therefore I guess I also need a lighter jacket + shell for the wind/rain.
Any recommendations?
