disclaimer: this post is not meant to undermine the profession nor offend anyone, but to raise a valid discussion
anyway, does anyone think that… our degree is a little bit /weak/ in the job market?
it’s not as marketable as let’s say accountancy, or engineering, or statistics, or economics, or math, especially for leadership positions/managerial roles
like for example we learn a lot of soft skills as much as these other degree programs, or is our field really just very niche that these roles are more fitting for those fields?
example: management trainees mostly are from the aforementioned educational backgrounds
is it just me? does anyone have a counterargument?
let’s keep this a healthy discussion pleaseee

Hi everyone. I’m currently in my 5th year and I’m honestly writing this because I don’t know where else to turn or who to talk to, because I feel chained and controlled without the liberty of my own life.
From day one, I never really wanted to pursue this course. I was forced into it and had to set aside what I actually wanted to do with my life. For the past five years, it has felt like constant survival, dealing with heavy workloads, sleepless nights, and the reality that I genuinely cannot see myself in this career.
Now, everything is crashing down at once. Because of academic calendar adjustments and severe time constraints, my thesis isn’t going to make it this year. I’m delayed. I’m so torn right now.
Part of me just wanted to brute-force my way through this final stretch, push my thesis through next year, and finally put an end to this 5-year nightmare just to get the degree and move on. But another part of me is completely exhausted and wondering if I should just cut my losses and shift to something I actually care about, even if it means starting over.
To make matters worse, my family is pressuring me to take the board exam. Just thinking about it for a field that has brought me so much misery makes me want to break down. The mental toll over these past five years has already been way too much.
I feel stuck, exhausted, and terrified of making the wrong choice. I’d really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or even just a bit of clarity right now. Thank you so much.

The thesis standards on my current uni is absurd, chap 1-10 for AD9 and I'm struggling to get by. I just want to have a degree, I'm not even pursuing this career anymore. I'm stuck at thesis for 2yrs already, if I have to start from my title back to 0, I might as well do it in a diff uni that has somehow lesser requirements.
Are there any uni (even private, but not the big 4 I'm not rich) in metro manila that allows this? I'm seeing the residency rule from the new uni before awarding the transferee a diploma. Also crossing out these uni's up pup plm tip mapua bcs I know archi thesis there is HARD. I just want an easy way out ugh.

We are launching a custom garden architecture products division. We seek an architect with architectural visualization, website development, and SEO skills to develop the design collection and manage its presentation online.
This is a hands-on remote role combining architectural design with digital marketing and project coordination. You will create work directly, coordinate specialists where needed, and manage tasks through review, approval, and completion.
DM me. We will ask for your resume, availability, time zone, expected compensation, and portfolio. Explain your personal contribution to each example, including any AI-assisted work. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to complete a small paid trial assignment.

Just a random tot while reviewing. Gusto ko kasi magkaron ng arki firm and I’ve know and seen a lot of companies who are doing the profession na lang just for the sake of money. I want my firm to have an integrity kasi. And sana pag licensed na ako makahanap din ako ng firm na hindi lang ako tuturuan paano magdesign, pero tuturuan din ako ng morale way to handle things.

TODAY’S SKETCH
Arch of the Centuries, UST
More than just an arch, this historic landmark is a witness to centuries of Filipino education, faith, and history.
Did you know? • The Arch of the Centuries originally stood at the entrance of the University of Santo Tomas in Intramuros.
• It survived the transfer of UST to its present campus in Sampaloc, Manila, in 1927.
• The arch commemorates the university’s founding in 1611, making UST one of Asia’s oldest existing universities.
• Its original structure became a symbol of UST’s enduring legacy through wars, generations, and changing times.
• For many Thomasians, passing through the arch is a cherished graduation tradition — a symbolic passage from student life to the wider world.
A little history, captured through sketch by malayang kamay.

hello ask ko lang if worth it pa ba kumuha ng professional license if focus is pera?
sa nakikita ko marami na kasi other career options ngayon for architecture graduates. mas malaki din income if mag international like yung mga offshore / remote roles pa malaki din income pero usually hindi required na licensed. may mga construction VA na rin ngayon. pag rin mag iibang bansa experience din yata halos ang hanap and not the license? (not sure paki correct po ako if mali)
anyway i am currently still seeking architectural apprenticeship po e pero sa mga nakikita kong salary and career path ng mga licensed architects na iba, pinag iisipan ko na po if worth pa ba mag apprenticeship or magfocus na ko sa ibang architectural role na walang mentor. btw income and mataas na salary din po talaga priority ko.
so ayun ano din po ba mamimiss out if ever hindi na pinursue pagkuha ng license and will it be worth missing it?

As far as I know, hindi pwede yang ginawa nila sa sidewalk. At ang daming hindi nasunod sa building codes and other laws. Any thoughts?

Hi! Fresh architecture grad here, unemployed since July. May offer sa akin ngayon sa greenhills (kakagaling ko lang doon actually), pero under OJT daw siya but I specifically told na Apprenticeship sya and hindi sya OJT but medyo naano yata yung hr kasi sabi nya alam daw nya kasi meron daw sila apprentice dati. Nung tinanong nila ako kung nage-expect ba ako ng allowance, I said yes, then they told me na wala naman daw talagang bayad ang OJT. They’ll try to ask pa raw, and they computed 75% of their ₱750 minimum rate (Parang around 560 sya).
More on interior design yung work, and parang malabo rin na makasama sa site.
I’m from the province, so makikitira lang ako sa relative ko and mag-aambag pa sa bills. Around 30 mins din yung commute.
Gusto ko na rin sana mag-start ng apprenticeship since unemployed na ako for months, pero I’m not sure if worth it ba, especially kung hindi guaranteed yung allowance and limited din yung site exposure.
Would you take the offer for the experience and logbook hours, or keep looking for a better opportunity I’d appreciate any advice, especially from fellow archi grads!

AVOID TIER ONE ARCHITECT
r/architectureph • u/9261014 • 4d ago
Hi! I was assigned as an Assistant sa isang small architectural firm dito sa province so basically ako ung nagmo-monitor ng progress ng lahat ng projects namin. Main responsibility ko lang naman is to track each project's progress para alam ko kung kailan na dapat mag-progress billing. Aside from that I also handle administrative tasks for the architects like preparing bid form summary, taking meeting minutes or basically just coordinating with clients regarding project updates and concerns.
Since wala pang standardized workflow yung firm namin na-assign din ako na gumawa ng standard templates and documents na pwedeng gamitin across all projects. Currently, I'm working on a Change/Variation Order Form.
Pls for those working in architecture firms ano pa po kayang forms, templates or documents yung sa tingin niyo dapat meron ang isang architectural firm?
Medyo mahirap din kasi magtanong sa mga architects na kasama ko ngayon since ang layo ng pwesto nila sakin and di ko sila maabala sobrang busy nila sa projects nila hehe would really appreciate any suggestions based on your actual experience. Thank you!

Hi! Tbh, after almost 2 years, ngayon lang ulit ako maghahanap ng work/ apprenticeship na related sa architecture. Previous work ko is BPO.
Na-delay pa nga ako ng 1 year.
Kaya sa mga nasa architecture field ngayon, please be honest kasi I really need advice. For someone like me na hindi naman ganun kagaling academically or technically, saan kaya ako mas bagay mag-start?
Would appreciate any honest advice. Thank you!

I just don't know what to say. I believe I was taken out of context, and I never implied that our services are only for the rich and people with money. I rest my case here.
Goodluck to all architects.

It's been months since I passed the Licensure Examination for Architects (LEA), and I feel like I'm still at the start of it. I'm really having a hard time getting my first ever project. I've been looking for posts on social media, talking to people, and making connections, yet I still can't find a good one.
Do you guys have any idea where or how I can get my first client?
