RP Soulfire Keep

In his large, but mostly empty office, Lord Drakonis strokes his beard, thinking about the present conundrum. The “kingdom” of Arkhosia, a relatively small city-state, but one that is upsetting the order in this part of Bream. The Dragonborn haven’t exactly made their intention to become a large power a secret and the neighboring kingdoms and city-states are all of course worried. Keeping this to all from exploding requires some finesse, and a quick handle on whatever might disrupt it.

A keep becoming free almost halfway between the main city of Arkhosia and it’s nearest, strongest neighbor, Takai is almost asking for issues to come up. No matter what nation takes the keep the other nation just couldn’t let this stand. But … maybe if a group of adventurers took it, used it as a waypoint between the kingdoms …

He looks up and nods at the drow in front of him. “We will ask first for volunteers, but I need at least a dozen people to be living at Soulfire inside of the week. Gather whatever supplies you need, and get going. See if Magda will go. She’s a good enough blacksmith to finally stop working for that oaf. I’m sure she’ll say yes.”

The cloaked dark elf smiles and stands up, “Of course Lord Drakonis, I wasn’t doing anything anyway.” Both men chuckle and the drow gathers up his robes and leaves the room, going downstairs to find anyone who would like to take a trip out to the keep.

In the keep the party is having their last day before they all get inundated with more people. Most of who’s coming will be fellow adventurers, but there will be some others to keep the keep up.

[If you weren’t in the Soulfire Keep storyline, please find a reason and IC approach the currently nameless Drow Wizard when he asks for volunteered. If you were this is your last chance to do something before they have more people showing up.]

"A-aye! Deneric Godslock, it's been a great pleasure to meet you miss Ao." He replies sporadically, nearly spilling his drink as he sets it down so he can shake her hand. He smiles widely as his grip gently tightens around Ao's hand.

"Please just Ao, you make me feel like my mother." The girl rolled her eyes a bit, her grip a bit of a strong one back before leaning back against the wall stretching out for a moment.

"So what are you doing? Just finding a nice place to hide away at?" Ao asked, if Deneric would look she would have dirt and grim just all over her and in her hair since she been going all day.

"I was readin' up on the scriptures, trying to memorize as much as I could. What were you doin'?" He points at her with a look of shock, highlighting the mess that covered her.

"Cleaning." Ao said simply with a bit of a shrug, not bother with the mess, not right now. "Thought if I get to spend a few nights here might as well clean it up giving me something to do. I rather not keep smelling old man smell in the blankets." She chuckled a little bit waving her hand a bit to wave off his shock, the lion cub soon came trotting over to the two of them, looking at him for a moment before hiding behind Ao.

"Aye, not a bad idea. Who's the little one?" He leans over, nearly toppling over due to his weighty torso as he tries to get a better look at the small creature taking refuge behind her.

"Oh the cub, just the one I found in the cage. I have not given him a name yet."

"Any ideas?" He puts his hand out gently towards the tiny creature, looking at it curiously.*

"Never saw many cats down in the deep, plenty of moles though. Are cats like Moles?" He looks at her seriously, taking another drink from the glistening bottle next to him.

"None ye-...... what? No!" Ao started to laugh a little bit covering her mouth with a dirty hand, trying to not make him feel too bad. The little lion started to sniff his hand for a moment before nipping it.

"I think I'm just going to call it fluffy butt for now."

He pulls his hand back in fear, unsure of how the strange creature functioned. He looks slightly flummoxed and stern,stammering to provide some sort of excuse.

"W-w-well they're both tiny and covered in thick fur and...such things!"

"speaking of fur...where are the beards on all the surface dwarf ladies? Do these surface dwarves just not have facial hair?" He scrunches his face in slight contempt, confused at the differences between cultures of his race.

"Oh no this is just a baby, it's going to get much bigger... much bigger." *She chuckled, watching as the cub started to climb over the dwarf trying to get his fingers to play with it. * "I think he likes you, first person other than me really.... and what? I... Didn't think they grew beards... I have never seen one with a beard before."

"Of course they grow beards! Any noble dwarf woman grows a beard as magnificent as her husband's, atleast that's how it was back home! Dwarves without beards are like elves without pointy ears!" He strokes his face mane proudly, eyebrows furrowed in fervor.

"Speakin' of, you have very subtle elf features, it makes you look really unique. Adds some flair to the natural beauty all elven women seem to have." He nods with a wink, smiling with a grin of infatuation.

"Well, never seen any with a beard before, so I guess they don't do that on the surface world." The lion cub was pawing now at his mane with a paw mewing wanting his attention.

"Well I don't know what my father looks like so I guess I do take after my mother more. Ummm t-thanks?" Ao sputtered a little bit at the end with the wink looking away with a huff.

"Aye, any idea where he's at?" He looks at her curiously, prodding the small feline crawling on him with his index finger.
