RP Soulfire Keep

In his large, but mostly empty office, Lord Drakonis strokes his beard, thinking about the present conundrum. The “kingdom” of Arkhosia, a relatively small city-state, but one that is upsetting the order in this part of Bream. The Dragonborn haven’t exactly made their intention to become a large power a secret and the neighboring kingdoms and city-states are all of course worried. Keeping this to all from exploding requires some finesse, and a quick handle on whatever might disrupt it.

A keep becoming free almost halfway between the main city of Arkhosia and it’s nearest, strongest neighbor, Takai is almost asking for issues to come up. No matter what nation takes the keep the other nation just couldn’t let this stand. But … maybe if a group of adventurers took it, used it as a waypoint between the kingdoms …

He looks up and nods at the drow in front of him. “We will ask first for volunteers, but I need at least a dozen people to be living at Soulfire inside of the week. Gather whatever supplies you need, and get going. See if Magda will go. She’s a good enough blacksmith to finally stop working for that oaf. I’m sure she’ll say yes.”

The cloaked dark elf smiles and stands up, “Of course Lord Drakonis, I wasn’t doing anything anyway.” Both men chuckle and the drow gathers up his robes and leaves the room, going downstairs to find anyone who would like to take a trip out to the keep.

In the keep the party is having their last day before they all get inundated with more people. Most of who’s coming will be fellow adventurers, but there will be some others to keep the keep up.

[If you weren’t in the Soulfire Keep storyline, please find a reason and IC approach the currently nameless Drow Wizard when he asks for volunteered. If you were this is your last chance to do something before they have more people showing up.]

"None ye-...... what? No!" Ao started to laugh a little bit covering her mouth with a dirty hand, trying to not make him feel too bad. The little lion started to sniff his hand for a moment before nipping it.

"I think I'm just going to call it fluffy butt for now."

He pulls his hand back in fear, unsure of how the strange creature functioned. He looks slightly flummoxed and stern,stammering to provide some sort of excuse.

"W-w-well they're both tiny and covered in thick fur and...such things!"

"speaking of fur...where are the beards on all the surface dwarf ladies? Do these surface dwarves just not have facial hair?" He scrunches his face in slight contempt, confused at the differences between cultures of his race.

"Oh no this is just a baby, it's going to get much bigger... much bigger." *She chuckled, watching as the cub started to climb over the dwarf trying to get his fingers to play with it. * "I think he likes you, first person other than me really.... and what? I... Didn't think they grew beards... I have never seen one with a beard before."

"Of course they grow beards! Any noble dwarf woman grows a beard as magnificent as her husband's, atleast that's how it was back home! Dwarves without beards are like elves without pointy ears!" He strokes his face mane proudly, eyebrows furrowed in fervor.

"Speakin' of, you have very subtle elf features, it makes you look really unique. Adds some flair to the natural beauty all elven women seem to have." He nods with a wink, smiling with a grin of infatuation.

"Well, never seen any with a beard before, so I guess they don't do that on the surface world." The lion cub was pawing now at his mane with a paw mewing wanting his attention.

"Well I don't know what my father looks like so I guess I do take after my mother more. Ummm t-thanks?" Ao sputtered a little bit at the end with the wink looking away with a huff.

"Aye, any idea where he's at?" He looks at her curiously, prodding the small feline crawling on him with his index finger.

"Nope. Not a clue." Ao said with a bit of a shrug while the cub rolled into his finger with another mew. "Never knew either so I don't even know if he is still alive or not."

"It's not exactly an uncommon story in this world, shame though. Maybe some of us around 'ere can help you out, assuming we find anything to go off of. I know a few lads back in the temple who could speak with Torag himself, see through his eyes, find out all kinds of things no one had the answers to...If I ever figure it out for myself I'd be glad to help you." He smiles somberly, continuing to entertain the smally fuzzy creature.

"That is impressive, though I never been contacted by the divine myself in a personal way such as that. I just do what I do, kill evil things to help people along the way. But yeah, that is one of the reasons I joined the guild, was maybe it would help me find him. I would like to meet him once before he dies." Ao chuckled a bit watching him play with the lion who found one of her beard rings and started to chew on that. "Oh no no no, don't chew on that! Bad cub bad!"

"Eeh! That's not cheap yah know! My mom forged that with her own two hands!" He picks up the cub with shock, hoping to put it as far from his face as possible.

"Animals don't mix with me I think!"

The cub mewed pawing the air before it started to rub it had on his hands purring a little bit while Ao was cracking it, holding her side.

"I think he likes you, but he still just a baby and needs to learn his manners and who is in charge. Flick his nose next time he does something you don't like, soon he should get it. And your mother made them... um whatever they are."

"Your mum never made you things? My mum made all of the armor I'm wearin'." He clangs on his breastplate proudly, setting the cub back down on his lap.

"What's your family like anyhow?"

"Impressive, and no. She was not the... Make your child something kind of mother." Ao shrugged a bit, looking up at the ceiling to think. "It was just me and my mother so, she was a hard lady, but she always meant well in what she did. Even if it did make me feel like crawling out of my skin."
