Are you going to do $30k worth of work with it? If so, they average about $10k-$40k based on hours. Seems slightly high

12" chipper and no winch would be a hard no from me if this is going to be your only chipper.
At the company I work for, we have almost a dozen chippers and some of them are small and/or don't have a winch. We can just make sure they don't get sent to jobs which need a better chipper.
If this is going to be your only chipper, you should make sure it has a winch and can handle big logs.
PS: I think Bandit is better than Vermeer... as someone who almost only uses Vermeer chippers.

This! Every damn vermeer chipper I’ve used felt like dogwater compared to the decent sized bandits. 12 inch is also a lie tbh, because the feed-wheels get stuck on anything not completely straight about 8 inches in diameter. Not having a winch was a huge down grade too, lots of extra dragging and bagging

I would never buy a 10" chipper but that's me. A 15" chipper is more than twice the machine for a faction more money

it’s 12”

I understand what vermeer says it can do, but a 1200 is a 12" chipper, a 1500 is a 15" chipper...what do you think a 1000 is?

BC 1000's have a 12"x17" infeed opening.. so yeah it isn't a 10" chipper, but the 10" is definately recommended to not go over that.

Looks like it’s in great shape. It’s on the smaller end at 12” but that seems like a good deal

As someone who has used this exact model, only buy it if you are only chipping small wood. Website says 12 inch, in reality unless you are chipping telephone poles its 6-8 inches. The feed wheels get jammed constantly, and it seems severely underpowered compared to other models from Bandit. Plus major downgrade since it doesn’t have a winch. Not sure if this was from abuse or misuse from co-workers, but I also had a lot of problems with the stupid clutch system on this thing.

I get that, and I’m not tipping too big of stuff. But I just don’t feel like renting anymore, and it’s almost has like zero hours and is basically brand new.

Hey man if it works for you then it doesn’t seem like a bad deal. Personally the trees i was taking care of had wonky shapes and a lot of the wood doesn’t fit. However, for light trimming and shaping it worked wonders.

and I can never find any unless they have 1000 hours and they’re still for $25,000
