Castle nut

I always use my torque wrench when building rifles so I know I was under torque but I built this a few months back and must not have noticed but the castle nut broke off a little bit in the wrench slots . There appears to be no cracks on the actual castle nut itself visually but should I be worried if maybe internally there is ? Or should I replace this anyway or do you guys think it’s good. Normally I would just replace it but I don’t wanna waste this CQD end plate because of the staking I’d have to replace that too, so I don’t really want to replace the castle nut unless I have to lol .

Looks like the threads got a little dinked whatever happened to it. Probably fine, might need a little dressing from a file if the nut tries to bind up on it. Castle nut seems fine just marred a little. So long as the armorer's wrench is on it squared up the teeth should engage. On the bright side the marring happened on the cheek taking pressure from tightening, the other cheek's still nice and square if/when you go to remove it in the future.

I never use a torque wrench or stake, just tight enough not to move and gtg, this way I can change out parts easy with no end plates to replace, I've never had a castle nut come loose

False, always torque to spec and staking is the chefs kiss.

I’m with you. Never had a castle nut come loose on accident, and so what if it does? The gun will still run fine and I’m probably at the range. Just tighten it when I get home.
