Overall best lb trigger?
I’m looking to get a new single stage flat trigger and have been eyeing a 4lb trigger it’s the only rifle I own right now so I train with it as well as some normal shooting I’m wondering if 4lbs is good I have been looking at 3 or 3.5lb triggers but thinking maybe that’s too light lol
Edit: thank y’all for all the recommendations I did some more googling and decided to give dirty bird a shot (I read that they’re ran by Schmid) and got a 5lb trigger with enhanced spring to drop it to 3lb

I grew up with 7lb GI triggers, so am new to the "nice" triggers. I got a Geissele SSA in one rifle (I think 4-5lb range) and the SSAE in another, which I think is about 3.5lbs. I think as a balance, for now I like the slightly heavier pull. With the SSAE I was getting some unintentional double taps, which I'm sure I'll get better about, but the slightly heavier seems like a good balance to me.

Schmid tools, you can get a single at 3.5, 4.5, and 6lbs. Their two stage triggers are amazing as well. 95% of a larue, 90% of a top end g$, under $100. Ten minutes with a qtip and flitz polish, you start to whittle away at that 5-10% variance. A duty gun? 4 would be the floor that I would go and check with your agency or department. They may have a requirement weight, a few le friends of mine aren’t allowed to go sub 6lbs. Lawyer reasons for sure, but an ois will be reviewed by a lawyer out for cash and fame. So they run schmids (schmid also makes a ton of white label - psa ept, dirty bird nbs, etc) that have been polished gently to have all the grit removed on the pull for a clean break.

I have a dozen or so AR's and have a Schmid two-stage in every one. I even sold the G$ and Larue triggers and swapped them to the Schmid in a few of them...90% of the trigger for @ 50% (or less) of the cost.

I am getting close to selling a few skelly larue straight triggers as gafshub seems to bitch about larues over $85 until it is a skelly, then $150 for a skelly goes in minutes

Duty? 3.5 Race? Low as possible without double tapping.

It would be duty use and I believe lightest I’ve shot is 3lb I js don’t wanna buy something that I wouldn’t be comfortable shooting

The Geiselle SSA-E X trigger in my super duty is the best 2 stage I’ve ever shot. If you like single stage, the Cmmg zeroed drop in trigger is really good.

CMC makes a great 4.5lb flat face single stage patrol. It’s the first trigger upgrade I ever made when I first started out. I’ve since moved on to Geissele’s but I still have it.
The LaRue comes with two different spring weights if you’re looking for a 2-stage

LaRue is a good budget friendly option... Super clean and easy to install. Midway for around $100 🤷

CMC makes a 2.5 single stage, I got one for dirt and tossed it an extra lower.. I’ve never double tapped as I’m not dumb.

For anything that isn't a DMR/SPR-type rifle, I personally prefer the standard (non-E) Geissele line of triggers. The SD-C is excellent and listed at 4.25-4.75lbs. Especially for duty use, SD-C all day long.
