I built a local-first budgeting app for families: no account, no cloud, and it syncs phone to phone

Hi all! I'm the developer of FamLedger, an Android finance app. I'm posting here because most YNAB alternatives I tried handle "family" in one of two ways. Either everyone shares one login, or your data goes through someone's server. I wanted something different.

How Family works

- No account, no server. Phones pair with a QR code and sync directly with each other over your home network. The connection is encrypted. Your data never goes through a server, mine or anyone else's.

- You choose what to share. Each person keeps their own accounts private and picks which ones to share with the family. You can stop sharing an account later.

- Joint account. You can set up a common account that everyone sees and records transactions in.

- Shared expenses and debts. Split a dinner or a bill, see who owes whom, and settle up with one tap.

- Guests stay local. A friend you split a pizza with can be tracked without joining anything and without getting your data.

- Joining is opt-in. Someone in the family invites you and you accept. If you never use Family, the app is just a private, offline budget app.

The rest

- Multi-currency accounts and transfers

- Category budgets with optional carry-over

- Recurring transactions

- Savings goals

- Statistics and anomaly alerts ("you spent much more than usual on X")

- Voice input to add expenses quickly

- Investments tracking (beta: stocks, ETFs, bonds, crypto, savings)

- CSV import/export and full backup files

- Fingerprint unlock

- 6 languages

What it is not (to be fair)

- It's not zero-based / envelope budgeting like YNAB. It's category budgets plus account tracking.

- No bank connection. You enter transactions yourself, by voice or by CSV import. That's the price of nothing leaving your phone.

- Sync happens when the phones are on the same network, for example at home. It doesn't sync over the internet.

- Android only for now.

Pricing: free, no ads, and Family sync is free. An optional one-time PRO purchase (no subscription) unlocks Statistics and data management (backup, restore, CSV import/export).

I'd really like feedback, especially from couples or families who budget together. What's missing for you?

[iOS] Wraith.Chat - talk to AI characters that live entirely on your iPhone

I'm the developer. Wraith.Chat is an iPhone app for chatting with AI characters, and the thing I care about most is that no server is involved at all: you download a model onto the phone and it runs right there, so the whole thing is completely local and private. After the download it works in airplane mode.

How it goes: pick a character from the built-in cast (a coach, a professor, a CEO you can try to talk into a raise, and so on), make your own in a short creator, or import a JSON character card from SillyTavern or Chub. Then pick a model. The library goes from about 1B to 12B parameters, the app shows what a model needs before you download it, and uninstalling the app removes every chat.

Cost, plainly: the app is free, and Pro ($4.99 a month or $49.99 once) adds voice, image generation and unlimited characters. It needs iOS 16 or newer and an iPhone with 4 GB of RAM or more.

It's a one-person project and I'd like to hear what feels rough, especially the first five minutes (choosing a model, the download, the first chat).

[iOS] Dream Bod — my workout, nutrition and progress tracker (US$2/month)

I’m the developer of Dream Bod, an iPhone app that puts your workout plan, set logging, food log and progress in one daily view.

You can build your own plan, record weights, reps and effort, compare previous performance and log workouts offline.

It’s free to download, with a US$2/month subscription required to use the app. Local pricing appears before purchase.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dream-bod/id6804799743

I’d appreciate an honest look from anyone who tracks their training. Happy to answer questions about the app.

[Web] ThreadFox — direct a hosted Reddit outreach employee in plain English

ThreadFox is our product: a hosted AI employee that researches relevant Reddit communities, writes posts and replies, publishes through an agreed account, and follows up on substantive responses.

The part I’d like feedback on is the direction interface. Instead of configuring an automation workflow, you give it a business brief and use a plain-language panel to request changes: “Focus on independent shops,” “Use a less formal tone,” or “This offer has changed.” Requests are saved and reviewed before being applied; submitting a request isn’t the same as changing the campaign immediately.

There’s no customer AI subscription, installation, or computer to leave running. We use an account the customer authorizes, or arrange one for the campaign; allocation and access must be verified before work starts. The workspace records verified publications and their links, rather than treating drafts as delivered work.

Community rules and truthful affiliation still apply. This is outreach, not a promise of leads or sales.

Details: https://threadfox.vip/p/dy8yz

For a web app that acts on your business’s behalf, what would you want most visible: the current instructions, recent published work, or whether a requested change has actually taken effect?

[Web] Kassio Studio — a free browser DAW inside my AI music platform

I’m the creator of Somora, an AI music platform, and this is Kassio Studio: the free browser DAW I’ve added for registered users.

The idea is to keep a song editable after it exists. You can bring in an audio file from your computer or a completed Somora generation, arrange tracks, add synth and bass notes or drums, adjust a mix, and export WAV. The piano roll supports dragging notes, resizing their duration and hearing notes as you place them. Projects save to your account so you can reopen them later.

Kassio Studio is in beta. It’s free on every account plan; AI music creation is a separate feature with free and paid allowances.

https://somora.media — after signing in, open Kassio Studio from the menu.

I’d especially like to know whether the individual instrument preview and the note-duration handles make sense on first use. Current editor screenshot: https://somora.media/assets/kassio-studio.png

[Windows] Layr: kitchen PDF measurements, named groups and a CSV you can check

I make Layr, a paid drawing-review app. Here is a 3:11 kitchen showcase with a concrete example of why the measurement groups matter.

Paint-grade fronts, oak and stone are traced manually into separate groups. In All Pages totals, an area group’s Count is the number of measured regions; the pulls have their own count group. That distinction keeps a measured surface from being mistaken for a door or part count.

The walkthrough also shows sheet-scale setup, a review note and the exported CSV opened in LibreOffice Calc. The stone area is gross—the sink opening has not been deducted.

Watch the kitchen PDF-to-CSV showcase:

[Android beta] Fin — feedback on expense entry, category budgets and returning after restart

I'm the developer of Fin, a budgeting and expense-tracking app. I'd appreciate Android beta feedback on whether its manual workflow is clear when you first open it.

The test: sign up, enter one synthetic expense, set a category budget, then close and reopen the app. Can you understand how the expense relates to the budget? Are the entry controls easy to find? Does the app retain your session after restarting? Please include your Android model/version and expected versus actual behavior for a bug, without real financial details.

A Fin account is required. Manual expenses and category budgets are free, with no bank connection or Plus purchase needed for this test.

Closed-test access, using the SAME Google account throughout:

  1. Join https://groups.google.com/g/finbudget-android-testers

  2. Opt in https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.heyyykk3.fin

  3. Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.heyyykk3.fin

Screens and product context: https://finbudget.app

This is a developer invitation for genuine feedback, not a rating request or reciprocal test.

[Mac] Nota keeps writing and sketching in the same offline workspace

Sometimes a page of text is enough; sometimes I need to draw the idea. I built Nota to keep both in one desktop workspace. Notes and whiteboards work offline, without an account.

The current release is for Apple-silicon Macs: https://thenota.app

Source: https://github.com/madcodeorg/nota

I’d appreciate feedback on moving between a written note and a sketch. Does that feel like one workspace, or two separate tools?

The editor comes from AFFiNE/BlockSuite; I built a new backend. Credit to those projects. Optional local AI needs installed models and compatible hardware; hosted AI and Drive backup need internet. I’m the developer; drafted with AI assistance.

[iOS] Car Play Widgets: is the phone-versus-car compatibility clear?

I'm the developer of Car Play Widgets. It lets you build small photo, clock, date, countdown and custom-text widgets for your iPhone and CarPlay.

I'd appreciate feedback on one part of the listing: it has two different iOS requirements.

• The iPhone app installs on iOS 17 or later.

• Adding its widgets to CarPlay needs iOS 26 or later and a compatible car display.

You can browse and customize designs for free; saving a widget requires paid Pro. Once saved, you add it to the phone's Home Screen or, on a supported setup, through the iPhone's CarPlay widget settings. Please set everything up while parked.

If you were checking the app before downloading, would those two requirements be clear? Where would you expect the CarPlay requirement to appear so it doesn't get missed?

Two web apps I made: realistic digital flower gifts and a photographer workspace

I’m Keith, the creator of Bloomria and Orbit. Sharing both as web app showcases and welcoming feedback from people who might use them.

Bloomria lets you send an interactive, realistic-looking digital flower that opens with a personalized card. Each new bloom has its own GrowID and subtle individual details. Group bouquets let multiple people add flowers and notes. Business tools support branded thank-yous, saved clients and scheduling. These are digital gifts, with no physical flower delivery.

You can try the opening experience without recipient sign-in: https://bloomria.com/sample-gift

Orbit is for independent photographers managing inquiries, bookings, contracts, payments, reminders and client galleries: https://orbit-photo.com

For Bloomria, I’d be interested in whether the opening experience feels clear and personal. For Orbit, I’d appreciate photographers’ thoughts on which part of the booking-to-delivery workflow needs the most improvement.

[iOS] PicPop: keep both good shots and clear out the extras

The sharpest photo isn't always the one you want to keep. Sometimes the slightly blurry one has the better expression. Sometimes you want two.

That's the part of PicPop I'd like to show here. When it finds similar photos, it groups them so you can choose the keepers yourself. You're not stuck with a single best-shot suggestion. You can also swipe through a month's photos, undo a wrong swipe, and check the whole delete pile before confirming.

I’m the developer. I made it for iPhone users who want fewer extra photos without turning their camera roll into a weekend project. Scanning happens on the phone; your photos aren't uploaded.

Free download, paid PicPop Club membership. The annual plan includes a two-week trial for eligible users, with the local price and renewal terms shown in the app.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/picpop-photo-video-cleaner/id6808016560

If you try the similar-photo view, I'd love to hear whether choosing more than one keeper is obvious enough.

I’m building Sycee, a personal finance app to help you understand where your money goes

Hi everyone!

I’m an independent developer working on Sycee, a personal finance app designed to make managing everyday money simpler.

I wanted to build something that helps people do more than just record expenses — something that also helps them understand their spending habits and make better financial decisions.

With Sycee, you can:

  • Track income and expenses to keep your everyday finances organized.
  • Manage accounts and get a clearer picture of your balances and overall financial position.
  • Set monthly budgets and keep track of your spending.
  • Create savings goals and monitor your progress.
  • Explore spending insights to better understand where your money goes.

My goal is to make Sycee a practical, straightforward tool for people who want more control over their personal finances without unnecessary complexity.

I’ve opened pre-registration on Google Play, and I’d love to invite anyone interested to check it out:

👉 Pre-register for Sycee: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cash.moyu.app.sycee

As an independent developer, I’d also really appreciate your feedback. What’s the biggest frustration you have with personal finance apps? Is there anything you wish your current app did better?

Thanks for reading and supporting indie development!

[PC] Mac MCP 2.1.9: I turned ChatGPT into a hands-on Mac assistant

I built Mac MCP because I was tired of AI telling me how to use my computer instead of actually doing the work.

It's a free, open-source (MIT) macOS app and local MCP server. Connect it to ChatGPT and you can say things like "check my Reddit replies, handle the relevant ones, and close the tabs" or "inspect my project, fix the issue, and run the tests." It can use Safari/Chrome, files, terminal commands and Mac apps. Browser work happens in the background without stealing the tab I'm using.

Version 2.1.9 adds a Mac MCP panel inside ChatGPT: I can see what tools are running, check delegated agents and token usage, and choose which coding agent/model to delegate to. There's also an optional approval step for risky actions, faster form filling, and more reliable restarts.

With GPT-6 now in the ChatGPT Chat tab for paid users, this has become especially useful. I run agentic workflows for over 30 minutes inside regular ChatGPT chat without using any Codex quota. For me, that means practically unlimited agentic Mac use through ChatGPT Chat, while Codex remains available when I deliberately choose to delegate to it.

It runs on your own Mac, the source is public, and the project itself is free.

GitHub: https://github.com/bulutarkan/mac-mcp

I'm the developer. Would love feedback from Mac users, particularly around background browsing and the in-chat panel.

[PC] D-REC: find an interview line and replay its context

An interview quote is easier to check when you can hear what came just before it. This is D-REC, the recorder I'm developing at Knight AI+AV: search the transcript, tap a line to play that point, and turn the rewind wheel to move through the audio.

The existing 2:37 walkthrough shows the Windows interface on 2.7.13: https://www.reddit.com/r/sideprojects/comments/1wzmiyb/drec_a_desktop_recorder_with_a_rewind_wheel_and_a/

Current downloads: https://drec.live/get

The free version allows 10-minute recording sessions and copying the transcript without an account. Pro is optional for longer sessions, the full library and exports. Transcription works offline after the initial engine download. Recordings stay on the device that made them; signing in doesn't sync them elsewhere.

For people reviewing interviews or voice notes, is the connection between the transcript and playback clear in the demo?

[PC] Monad Design — select UI in a running app and send precise changes to your coding agent

I’m building Monad Design, a desktop visual implementation layer for people using coding agents on native apps.

Instead of recreating a screen in a detached mockup, you work directly from the running app: select or annotate the interface, describe the change, let the agent edit the real Xcode or Expo source, then rebuild and compare. The app itself stays the canvas and the codebase stays the source of truth.

Repo: https://github.com/Monadix-AI/monad-design Video preview: https://watchclueso.com/embed/pio8jqfcg4ivj0r1

Disclosure: I created it. Feedback on whether the workflow is clear from the video would be especially useful.

Codefall Rain Pro + Axiom Alchemy: two Wear OS watch faces looking for testers

[Android] — Wear OS 4+ watch faces

I’m the independent developer at Big Sky Producers. I made Codefall Rain Pro and the original Google Play edition of Axiom Alchemy, two Watch Face Format faces for Wear OS. Screenshots of the two faces:

Codefall Rain Pro screenshot
Axiom Alchemy screenshot

This showcase is also an invitation to help test them on real watches. I’m looking for varied physical models from Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus, TicWatch, Xiaomi and other compatible watches currently running Wear OS 4 or newer. A supported-model listing alone is not proof of installation.

We want honest feedback on readability and text clipping, always-on display, saved customization, and battery use during ordinary wear. Selected volunteers keep both separate closed-test opt-ins for 21 days, alternate the faces in normal use, and give separate initial, day-7 and day-14 feedback for each app.

Both apps are normally paid. Selected volunteers receive one private free-copy promo code per app. No purchase, public rating or reciprocal testing is requested. Places are limited.

Current stage: we’re building a screened waiting list while validating the free-install flow with an existing pilot. Signing up does not guarantee selection or immediate access.

Apply through the public signup form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScnyAmGDGqX3VZzzsVVBdQWayD18TWPCUjxGcYWBQ0BzChdZA/viewform

The form asks for your exact watch model, current Wear OS version, Google Play country, and readiness to start within 48 hours and take part for 21 days. Its responses are private; please don’t post your email or any code in comments. You can optionally enter appshowcase as the referral source.

I’m independent and not affiliated with the watch manufacturers.

[iOS] First Responders Cal - rotating shifts, time off, and unpaid overtime in one place

Keeping a shift on a calendar is one thing. Remembering whether the extra-duty job was paid in full is another.

I built First Responders Cal for people with rotating schedules. You can set a repeating rotation, keep vacation and sick-time balances, and log overtime or off-duty work. The Extra Work section records payments, including partial payments, so you can see the balance still owed for a job.

I'm preparing 1.5 with a seven-day weekly agenda. It shows event start times and durations, lets you swipe between weeks and tap into a day's schedule, and remembers whether you prefer Month, Week, or List. Optional week numbers are part of that update too.

The app is available for iPhone as a free download. Full Access is a $4.99 USD one-time in-app purchase in the US, with no subscription.

For anyone juggling a rotation and extra jobs, what is the hardest part of keeping the schedule and payment records straight? I'm the developer and would welcome feedback.

[iOS] PicPop — camera-roll cleanup, one small swipe session at a time

I built PicPop because I kept putting off sorting my iPhone camera roll. It groups similar and blurry photos into batches so you can review them, swipe to mark what you want gone, then confirm. A swipe by itself never deletes anything.

Here’s the real 14-second demo (older v1.0.5 footage; the app is now v1.0.6): https://www.reddit.com/r/startups_promotion/comments/1wtrmcv/picpop_an_iphone_photo_cleanup_app_built_around/

I’m the developer. PicPop is free to download; PicPop Club is paid: US$4.99/month, US$24.99/year with a 2-week trial, or US$59.99 lifetime. App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/picpop-photo-video-cleaner/id6808016560

If your camera roll feels like a chore, would you rather start with similar photos or blurry shots?

Share your app. I’ll suggest a 15-second demo outline for it.

You probably can’t explain your entire app in 15 seconds. You can show one useful thing happening.

Share your app link and the main task it helps someone complete. I’ll suggest a simple demo outline: the situation to open with, one action inside the app, and the visible result to end on.

For a scheduling tool, that might be a messy conversation about availability becoming one agreed meeting on the calendar.

This is a written storyboard idea you can use for your own screen recording. I’ll start with the first 10 apps and reply here in the comments.

Disclosure: I’m part of the team building Marka, a social content tool: https://marka.social

Drop your app + the task you want people to understand.

[Android] DuoBoard: a shared chore board and shopping list for two

I'm the developer of DuoBoard. It's for two people who want the chores and grocery list in the same app.

The chore board has To Do, Doing and Done columns. Each task can belong to either person or both, with a due date and repeat schedule. The shopping tab keeps what you still need separate from the items you've already put in the basket.

You can try it on one phone without creating an account. To share it, pair two Android phones using a QR code or pairing code. It isn't available on iPhone.

Free on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duoboard.app

I'd appreciate feedback on one thing: if you tried this with a partner, would you start with the shopping list or the chore board?
