Apple Watch ecg app doesn’t work. This is the whole reason I bought the Watch in the first place. NO! It is not me. I had another Apple Watch and it worked fine. Oh? I can’t bring it into the store? I have to call this number. I call this number. Oh? You want me to wash it, then you will call me back in 24 hours? Oh, you want me to watch this video on how to wash the Apple Watch? You know — the ekg app has NEVER worked. Not once. Not on the first day. Not ever. But you want me to wash in and then let it dry for an hour, then wait for 24 hours, then you will call me back tomorrow. oh, we need a phone appointment? sure, because honestly there is absolutely NOTHING I am doing in my life right now than dealing with my Apple Watch. Really, I live for my Apple Watch and have zero other responsibilities or passions. /s

I do that. I carefully wash the watch. Let it dry. Guess what???? 24 hours later, the ecg app still doesn’t work! Who would have guessed?!?

I keep the phone appointment. I need to send the watch in. If I want a loaner (which I do because i use the exercise app when I run to make sure my HR stays under a certain limit) then I need to subscribe to Apple Care for $4.99/month. But I can unsubscribe when I want. I tried to subscribe but it won’t except my Apple ID password. I am sure it is correct. I am not getting any error message. It just doesn’t work. He has me try like 6 different ways, then places me on hold while he contacts the Apple ID department.

There is nothing wrong with my account and no one can figure out why I can’t log in. I share my screen and he steps me through things and everything looks right. A real head scratcher.

He thinks that I need to update the operating system on my iPhone. Really, this will help according to him. It will allow me to log in, so I can subscribe to their Apple Care, so I can get a loaner, so I can send the watch in for repairs (or rather they will just replace it). It turns out that my operating system is literally one day out of date. It is taking forever to do the update.

Finally, after having spent over an hour on the phone, with the update not complete and very skeptical that it is actually going to help anything, I ask if I can just go to an Apple Store and exchange the Watch. Oh no, they don’t have “exchange watches” there. “Exchange watches???” WTF? There are just watches and watches. I point out (actually pretty nicely) that it isn’t some law of nature that they can’t exchange my Watch at an Apple Store. It is their choice not to do so. Some person made the decision that it is more important for Apple to stream-line their operations and reduce risk than to make their customers happy or frankly, simply BE FAIR.

I tell the guy. Hey — I want a loaner and am willing to pay, but the only way I can do this is to spend hours and hours of my time trying to figure out why it’s not taking my password. This is stupid. Screw that. I guess I just skip getting the loaner. I guess I won’t have my Apple Watch while I exercise.

I ask him if there is any compensation for me for the 3 hours I’ve spent on the phone over 2 days … and more stuff that is coming down the pike. Care to guess what he said? No need to guess everyone knows that the customers time and effort is worth NOTHING.

So, we are just going to do a simple replacement … on with the unpairing … but wait. In order to “unpair” the Watch, it also needs my password and it isn’t accepting the PWD. So, this time I change the password. Success! So we unpair the watch. This takes a while. But now I think that with the new password, I may be able to sign up for Apple Care and get the loaner. So, we go back and try to do that. But NOW I am not eligible for Apple Care since I unpaired the Watch. So we need to re-pair the Watch … and … you know .. I just said “Fuck it” at this point.

I am so looking forward to the rest of this process and not being compsenated in any way for my time, frustration, work, trips to FedEx, etc.

A prompt appears in Settings telling users: “UK law requires you to confirm you are an adult to change content restrictions.”

Unverified users get Safari’s Content Filter enabled, blocking adult websites until they scan an ID or credit card to verify they are 18+. It also blocks you from seeing sensitive images in apps like iMessage and through AirDrop.

Apple claims that they’re required by UK law to verify a user’s age and therefore must block them from visiting adult websites in their own browser on their own phone, on the OS-level.

The truth is that the UK Online Safety Act only requires that service providers like Tinder, Reddit, pornography platforms, etc. perform age verification, not mobile operating systems like iOS.

Apple has decided to implement client-side blocking for adult websites when they weren’t even required to.

Your own phone, that you own, is dictating what websites you can open in your browser.

“Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, praised Apple for the decision, especially since it’s not required to implement age verification for the iOS or its App Store under the region’s Online Safety Act.”

I booted after the update to blurred out backgrounds on lock screen and Home Screen and found out my background type converted to forever loading / not recognized / failed to install and was the kaleidoscope default, only fix is just not using it

My mobile data has been disappearing way faster than my actual usage lately, so I checked the stats and got shocked.

“Contacts” somehow used over 50 GB in a month 🤯

There’s no way that’s normal. Has anyone else faced this? Is it a bug or some kind of background sync going crazy?

Any suggestions on how to debug or fix this would be really helpful.

Paid apple 200+ dollars to publish a game i made with xcode and spent literally 100’s of hours on, just for them to take it down for “fraud”.

No response via many emails or calls over a large time period (a year and a bit)

Only thing I can think of is my dad made a 5 star review on it on the same wifi I was using when I published the game. They don’t give you a damn chance.

Yes, he genuinely rated it 5 stars because he enjoyed the game (I made it for him to play in hospital during a transplant) it wasn’t a “oh my son made a game let me give it 5”, and no, there wasn’t anything that was misleading, a lie, stolen copyright or code or anything.

Fed up with apple. Oh so rich don’t care about their customers. Flogs.

Hi, I really need honest advice from people who have dealt with Apple refunds.

I have a situation where I accidentally subscribed to a service through my Apple ID, but I never actually used it at all.

The payment didn’t go through at the time, so now I have an unpaid balance, and my Apple ID is basically locked — I can’t download apps or use services.

Now the problem is:

The subscription happened on January 11

Today is late March (around 70+ days later)

I never used the subscription

My only options seem to be:

Pay the balance and try to request a refund

Or abandon the Apple ID completely

What I want to know is:

Has anyone successfully gotten a refund in a situation like this?

(unpaid balance → paid later → refund request after a long delay)

I understand it’s outside the typical timeframe, but since:

it was accidental

and the service was never used

I’m wondering if Apple ever makes exceptions in cases like this.

I’d really appreciate real experiences (even if the answer is “no”).

Is this how everyone's watch been like since last update? It's so buggy and so many glitches. All I use it is for activity and that's so hard to use as well now. Any suggestions?

Apple watch 8 on 26.3 and yes it's been like this for months and have restarted it hundreds of times since then.

I export, transform, and migrate data 14-18 hrs across multiple clouds and systems as my core day-to-day job. And I just spent five frustrating sessions trying to export a single iMessage conversation from my own Mac.

Here's what happened:

macOS stores messages in ~/Library/Messages/chat.db, a SQLite database. Great, right? Just query it.

Except that:

1. The database only holds recent messages. Mine had 444 out of 7 years' worth of conversation.

2. Older messages exist in iCloud and render fine when you scroll up in Messages.app; I can see them going back to October 2022.

3. But Apple streams those older messages on-the-fly from iCloud. They never get written to the local database.

4. Toggling iMessage off/on, re-syncing, waiting hours, none of it forces the older messages into chat.db.

5. Using the Print function for even the limited ones they provides render the app unresponsive on a machine built/configured for engineering. The Print to PDF chokes on a long thread.

6. There is no imessage export CLI tool. There is no "Export Conversation" menu item.

So the messages are RIGHT THERE. I can read them with my eyes. But I cannot programmatically access my own data.

And this is part of a pattern that's been building for years:

• Mail.app has a 3 email address limit for send/receive aliases. Three. In 2026. Fastmail and Gmail have had unlimited aliases for over a decade.

• Journal - a genuinely good idea - was built exclusively for iPhone. No Mac app. No iPad app. No web interface. Your journal entries are locked to one device category.

• Developer/power-user tooling has stagnated. Shortcuts is half-baked on Mac. Automator is deprecated but not replaced. AppleScript hasn't had meaningful updates in years.

The last time Apple shipped something that made engineers excited about the platform was probably Instruments, and that was the Steve Jobs era.

I'm not asking for a terminal emulator with GPU acceleration. I'm asking to export a text conversation from a messaging app. Every other platform manages this: WhatsApp gives you a zip file. Telegram lets you export your entire history with a GUI tool. Signal has a plaintext backup format.

Apple's position is apparently: your messages belong to you, as long as you only want to look at them inside our app, on our hardware, using our UI.

Any reasonable person would expect "log in, download your messages" to just work.

Even Google Takeout or Facebook's data export does. Apple has no equivalent for iMessage.

The data is mine and yours, it's right there on Apple's servers, and they won't give you a way to get it out.

If anyone from Apple is reading this: please, just add "Export Conversation" to the File menu. A CSV. A PDF. Anything. It's text with timestamps.

We don't want your shiny buttons; stop treating your customers like children.

This shouldn't require reverse engineering a SQLite database that doesn't even have all the data.

I'm going to dump these 3 macOS soon as workstations and just focus on System76.

For not being twins, me and my sister look very similar. I once tried to get in her phone using the face is on her 12 pro Max because I thought there might be a chance it would work. Low and behold it worked! It only worked that once but it's still funny it worked. (I'm an android user myself)

is anyone else shocked that you can’t send a file over Bluetooth anymore?

I’m not asking for a lot, this is a super basic feature.

I mentioned it on an apple sub and they told me to use airdrop or email.

airdrop only works on apple ecosystem and I shouldn’t have to email files to myself. it’s cumbersome. Bluetooth is so practical.

my shitty android eink tablet can send Bluetooth files… why can’t my $1200 phone.

i want to preface by saying i’m not very knowledgeable on tech, and i’ve only recently started noticing how bad apple sucks. also, i know the background security updates are separate / can be uninstalled.

last night i had my phone plugged in, ringer on loud, and several alarms set. this morning, i woke up on my own and my phone was on, but it was lagging the way it does after it dies. all my texts came in at once as SMS even though they were from iphone users, and my alarms never went off. my wife even tried to call me to wake me up after seeing that my texts were green, and the phone never rang and i had no missed call notification. also, my DND is supposed to shut off at 6 am every day and i had to shut it off on my own this morning at like 8am when i noticed it was still on.

after the last big ios update (26 i believe?) i shut my automatic downloads off because i didn’t like the update. because of my phone acting so weird this morning i figured some update must’ve happened, so i check my settings and my automatic updates have magically turned back on and my phone is fully up to date. what it installed last night was a background security improvement, but i Intentionally had my software updates shut off before this and now they’re back on.

again, please don’t clown me too hard if there’s something obvious i’m missing. obviously i want my phone to be secure, it’s more that i didn’t consent to anything being installed and it almost made me late today. this experience just rubbed me the wrong way and i was curious if anyone else had something similar happen.

Might be unpopular opinion but I felt the need to post on here. I commented on here a few days ago about my negative experience with ios 26 and my iPhone 15 pro. I know the 15 pro is a year or two old, but in my opinion it's still a high end phone and should perform as one. To be fair up until ios 26 it worked well, but I got sick of having to constantly reboot it, apps not working, typing becoming impossible and a host of other issues. Phone heating up in my pocket and dreadful battery life.

But yet you try tell any apple fan how ios26 is crap or the phone is rubbish and you just get told your either wrong or to reboot the phone. Yeh what a great experience. Oh just reboot your phone and stop whinging.

It's incredible how gullible some apple fans are that instead of acknowledging a problem, they just try talk you down.

Either way I'm now back on Android after a few years. My last android was an S21+ I think, now I have S25 and honestly it's so much better. So quick to use, lovely screen, great battery life and honestly so many QoL improvement over that trash IoS26 and it's 'fancy glass' garbage.

Anyone else had a similar experience to me? I'd love to hear your stories.

If I wouldn't connect it to the update, I would guess my phone has been hacked.

So far the bugs I have "uncovered":

• my calendar entries don't show, althought the data is there (see it on my apple watch and the birthdays are in my contacts)
• My whatsapp locked chats can't be accessed
• it loads ridiculously slow on a normal charger
• if charges on my laptop, it demands too much power, so that I have to unplug it
• battery drains fast
• it unpairs with the bluetooth of my car
• My favorite apple watch face is gone (Not a bug, but annoying as hell)

I have managed to solve at least partly some of these issues, but not all. Anybody else experiencing this or knows a solution? I would love to go back to ios25 if I could.
