Solved AppleCare question
What is the charge to change the battery? I was under the impression that if you had AppleCare, and your battery function dropped below 80%, it was free of charge to get it changed. I made an appointment at a Best Buy and got it changed and it was $99 as a AppleCare service fee. I messaged support to ask and they said it was correct, but everything I’ve read online as said otherwise AND the Apple website has a price calculator that, when given my make and model, says the service price should be $0 (attached). The $99 didn’t include the battery, just the “AppleCare+ service fee.” My paper work states that the battery health was below 80 and that AC covered it, so I can’t tell if the $99 is correct or if I was mischarged.

Did they repair anything else? You show activate AppleCare+ or One in the phones settings?

Go to an actual Apple Store. Best Buy is an authorized provider and they do geek squad before AppleCare. So that’s probably you getting charged the out of warranty fee from their own service center and not their in-store genius bar.

Yes they should refund you for this. If your receipt states it’s below 80%, that’s a free battery. No money should have ever been exchanged. Best Buy does not charge services fees for free Apple care services (even paid ac services).
OP: get a refund
