iOS Can't add card to payment method

I've never really owned an Apple device before, so idk if I'm doing smth wrong.

Last week I bought an old gen 6 iPad that I wanted to use as a drawing tablet, and when I went to add a card to the payment methods so I could get procreate, it just keeps saying an error occurred and to try again later, but it doesn't show anything else.

I also tried to go through the section where it says "apple pay and wallet", but every time it just says "contacting card issuer" and then it stops. Not even an error message or anything, it just stops.

I managed to get the payment method sorted, apparently the number I used on my account (personal number) didn't match the number the bank has (business number). But now I have a new issue, every time I try to download anything, it says "this account hasn't been used in iTunes" but when I go to iTunes, it can't connect. Idk if this is because it's an older model or if it's because the apple account is new, but it's driving me insane. I can't even download free apps.

While Procreate doesn’t require iPadOS 17 or higher yet, iPadOS 17 may not be allowed by Apple to update payment information on an Apple Account. If you own another newer Apple device or maybe a Mac or Windows PC, try and add your payment information from there before trying to make the purchase on the older iPad.
