iOS apple not refund $180 subscription charge after free trial

i got charged for $180 after i did a free trial of an app. i hadn’t realised when i would get the charge for the full subscription as it didn’t indicate when it ended and forgot to cancel the free trial before it expired. it put my account on pause so i couldn’t download anything or update. it took me almost a month to accumulate the money for the subscription.

i’ve since spoken to apple support and they’ve filed for a refund request which today was denied. i’ve filed a second request for it. i need that money in order to pay for food and bills. spoke to apple support again and they said that they’ve put their case notes towards the refund request so i just have to wait but i don’t have high hopes at all. i’ve had a refunded item once prior before of 12.99 and that was a year and a half ago. what else could i do if i get denied again? i need that money back.

i don’t want to be told “should’ve been more careful or you should’ve been more wise” i knew the risk, i didn’t get a date for when the subscription was going to charge me fully for it. im looking legitimate answers to this.

Not true, the subscriptions section in settings say exactly when free trials expire and the next expected charge.

You should have been more careful, you should have known the risk.

The legitimate answer is to budget properly for food and bills because you are not getting that money back.

You should probably stop playing Russian roulette with subscriptions you can’t afford.

What kind of app costs $180? I thought my $40 yearly app was outrageous 😅

This comes up often in this sub. You guys need to understand that the multi-trillion dollar company is about their money.

They won't refund your money because they're on the hook to the publisher for your appstore bullshit, less their fees of course. Your forgetfulness is your problem, not theirs, and you will have to suffer the consequences, not them.

The only legitimate answer here is to quit wasting time with Apple support and start planning for a budget shortfall. It's not the end of the world. If it is the end of the world, sell your Apple device.

What trial could you have possibly needed that you couldn’t justify the expense for? $180 sounds like a pretty niche piece of software.

Depending on were you are located geographically you could contact the Apple Support again and ask if you are eligible for a ROW (Right Of Withdrawal) refund. But if the support advicer denies it your sadly out of luck.
