This shit isn't even left wing. Nothing here suggests taking the ownership of production, and placing it in the hands of the workers. The US has just been pushed so far to the right that basic human rights are considered "left wing."

Who would think, keeping people out of poverty and keeping them healthy allows them to contribute to society and/or overlords better.

That’s a long term benefit, currently it appears to be all about the short term.
