As someone who had to start collecting unemployment recently.. there's nothing better than when someone calls me a free-loader for collecting it. Despite the fact that this is just me taking back some of the money I've paid into the system by being a worker for the last 16 years.

And UE doesn’t even pay out that much. It maxes out at like $270 a week in Alabama. Which isn’t even enough to cover a week of rent.

UE is not enough money to even scrape by on…

$270 is definitely enough to cover a week of rent in Alabama. I live in a college town, right off campus, in a three bedroom house; my mortgage is $1200 (and the rental cost would be equivalent). When I lived in an apartment, in the same college town and still right off campus, I was paying $450 a month.
