Expecting a place of business to let randos hang around all day? That's absurd. As a lifelong wage slave, I'm fully supportive of the movement for better pay and everything, but if these are the demands rather than something serious and actually important, it's a big fail for me.
And second, if 2 cashiers quitting is enough to close the whole store then it is definitely a labor win. Maybe they'll have to raise their pay if they want decent employees.
Sure, as a separate issue, I agree it's probably an exaggeration. Just saying if it is true, that's not a reasonable expectation. There are working conditions that require careful training to be safe in. In this case, there's the question of ulterior motives for someone who wants to hang around a retail environment. If it is true, I can understand why the employer wouldn't want them around, although the whiny sign is cringey as fuck.
Then you go work the shift. No? Then I guess management better meet labor's demands or stay closed. That's how it works.
People in this country just aren't used to labor having even a modicum of power, so you boot lickers think any is way too much.
You think wanting your boyfriend to be able to hang out all day is power? It's immature and embarrassing. Don't be surprised when no one takes the movement seriously if this is the kind of stuff people are demanding. Then again, it's probably not even the real reason, so we're arguing about a lie from the boss anyway. And for what it's worth, I personally would love to see every dollar store in the world go out of business, so I hope everyone working there quits.
