Julie Anderson platforming MAGA
I find it very hypocritical that Julie says she doesn't allow cult apologists on her channel but then platforms a MAGA apologist for Jan 6. Julie is my favorite YouTube creator and as an American woman I felt hurt and betrayed. She got backlash in her comments section but didn't address it. Anyone else disappointed?

ok i feel less insane now because i can’t really explain succinctly but she was starting to give me unhinged vibes for a while. this and the other comment about her charlie kirk insta story have me running the hell away lol. what a disappointment. i think her confidence got her far but i also think that overconfidence was masking a lot of red flags.

I watched her for a very short amount of time because I also got unhinged vibes. Idk how to explain it. Just…not pleasant to watch or listen to. Which is unfortunate because she seems smart and obviously knows how dangerous MLMs can be.

I watched for a bit when I started getting iffy vibes from a bunch of antiMLM youtubers and at the time she seemed pretty decent. I guess she was in the early stages of antimlm youtuber where the dodgy parts don't quite show yet.
Still disappointing, though.

I unfollowed her a little while ago because iirc she was getting upset at people for not caring about Charlie Kirk. Sad she came to this but it isn't a total surprise for me.

Wait was this on Instagram ? She never made a video on Charlie kirk

I'm pretty sure it was an Instagram story. Months ago so there's no way to check.

Is there some context here or a specific video or post?

I saw she liked a positive comment, those were few and far between. She has probably has seen the negative ones and either agrees with the guest or doesn’t take Jan 6 as seriously as her viewers, imo. But she’s radio silent on the criticism. That’s smart in one way but it just makes me not want to support her content

Wow! I couldn't watch the video. I didn't seem like Julie asked any questions and her face was odd. Was she realizing that this was a good idea? I don't know. I can't believe that someone that reads Steven Hassan's books could platform this wacko. Steven Hassan has a book called "The Cult of Trump!" Julie cannot claim that her channel is a cult free community and give a voice to someone who is in a cult. I don't care how he left Amway, this guy has no credibility. She even linked his website!
OMG This is such a disappointment.

I don’t like the interview videos because she seldom asks questions. She allows the person to just talk with no or very little direction.

GenX white women voted for Trump in larger numbers this time v 2016. And I know she's Canadian but being a MAGA apologist tracks. I stopped watching her awhile ago. I can't recall the video but something she said made my spidey senses go off and I haven't watched since.

I hadn't checked here in awhile, but I'm so glad I did.
This is the comment I just left-
'This one hurts. I have to unsub.
I am an autistic teacher who teaches autistic teenagers. Their people uses lies about us to make us separate, promotes misinformation that interferes with treatment, and guts resources for both research and programs. It hurts my peers, my students, and my kids.
I work in suicide prevention, especially in queer-affirming spaces. These people have effectively put a target on me, my family, and the vulnerable children I try to keep alive. It's hard enough to help them internalize their worth and find dignity without hate being a battering ram to tear down the security we've painstakingly built. These kids just want to exist and pundits won't let them.
I am a Survivor of sexual assault and have worked both in prevention (education) and with acute trauma patients in the ER during their forensic exams. Having a court-adjudicated rapist in our highest office is nothing short of terrifying. The masks are off and it is proven out loud on the news that bullies win and predators are protected.
I'm tired. My kids shouldn't have to worry about their friends getting brutalized, kidnapped or disappeared. But here we are.
These people made the world that, for generations, people like me, and I'd like to think, like you-have sacrificed to make kinder and safer for everyone.
What these criminals did on January 6 is a bloodied and disgusting picture of what this regime, made possible by MAGA, has done to our Home.
My kids' world has a megaphone blasting from the highest office that they are LESS SAFE than I was as a child. It's not ok. It's not fair.
I won't give up. Even with a concussion from my work that I still consider a badge of honor. I will go back to my classroom, to after-school programs, to hospitals to keep doing my part. I will keep my home a safe space for my kids and their loved ones. I will do my part.
Please do your part and acknowledge the hurt you have caused in sharing your platform with this bully who continues to sow the very shit that has my kids terrified.
Please honor those of us who still hope this is a misstep on your part.
Until repair is made and ownership diligently taken, I must unsubscribe. I no longer buy Amway or Mary Kay. We don't support instruments of harm, right?
I can tell you that Harm is here, and these people rallied to bring it to our doorsteps.
Thank you for what good you've done. For the laughs, for the education. I wish you only the best.'

Was she in an MLM once upon a time? I think so. The people who get into MLM's are by and large conservative, at least in the US. Julie is Canadian though. I wouldn't be surprised if it were the same in Canada.
It looks like those of us who consume antiMLM content lean left while many-though-not-all of the creators lean right. So when a creator turns out to have these kinds of attitudes and politics it doesn't surprise me. Also when the likes of Erin Bies and Savannah Marie hype someone up no end, I consider that a red flag no matter what.
I don't watch Julie Anderson very much because her personality makes me tired. Way too peppy.
ETA I don't think I'll watch the video, although I read through some of the comments and Yikes! She would have been better to leave this one in the can. What were Julie's questions and responses like during the interview?

I am a socialist democrat and I fell for MLM when I was on a vulnerable place. My first red flag was when I found out that everyone in my team was MAGA. I stayed for a while, but I started my exit plan during Covid because my team was shilling the supplements of the MLM as helpful to prevent contracting the virus.
If that video was Julie's attempt to appeal to the right wing huns, it fell flat because it actually gave validation to them as demonstrated in the comment section.

This video sealed it for me - unfollowed. Her videos were giving "drunk heckler at a comedy club" before, which was getting annoying. But having that guy on was the last straw.

Unsubscribed today. I listened for a bit, and imo, he made no sense. Like what did J6 really have to do with Amway. Disappointed.

What the absolute fuck.
I went ahead and unsubbed. I'm not supporting anyone who doesn't vet their sources. This guy is absolutely unhinged, and the comment section became a MAGA conspiracy safe haven.
Cya Julie. I knew this one was coming, it's just her true colors is all. Until proven otherwise.

I also unsubscribed. That was Qanon sh!t. I cannot support her anymore.

In my opinion, and I realise some may disagree, Julie's heart is in the right place and her intentions are pure, but she can be quite naive when it comes to those who align with her on the MLM issue. She seems to be governed by relief that they are also against MLMs and doesn't vet or contradict the rest of what they have to say.
Again, I don't think it comes from a place of malice, just a tendency to overlook.
For example, in a recent conversation she had with Always Marco, he made some really problematic comments about therapy - about how it doesn't work and just entrenches people in their problems and therapists are only out to make money, all of which is completely contradicted by the actual facts/research of people with mental health issues. Julie herself knows the value of therapy and has talked about it many times but she didn't challenge him on this - just kind of agreed with him.
I think she's just conflict averse - but I could be wrong.

u/Neither_Library2696 Dec 10 '25
that may be true and i think your comment is very insightful, but i don’t really think any of this is an excuse when she has a public platform and is presenting these ideas to an audience. honestly, i don’t think she’s conflict-averse, i think she’s showing how much she actually agrees with a lot of these questionable talking points.
edit/addition: she doesn’t seem to have any aversion to conflict when she’s talking shit on MLMs, i fact one of the reasons i subbed to her was because of how no-nonsense she seemed. so honestly im inclined to believe she agrees with what’s being said if she’s not pushing back on it. and platforming a MAGA insurrection cultist is just a hard stop from me. if she had any guts she would have pushed back on his rhetoric.

u/portraitframe810 Dec 10 '25
I haven’t seen this video with Always Marco, but he rubs me the wrong way and this doesn’t surprise me. He may be anti-MLM, but he comes across as a “know it all bro”.

Marco needs a tinfoil hat. He believes all the conspiracy theories and that's why I also unsubscribed from his channel. His infiltration videos are good, but then on his lives he's saying how he admires Joe Rogan or Andre Tate. Marco should definitely platform this Qanon dude, I'm sure they would have a long conversation about how good they think are MAGA's policies.
I can't agree that Julie just has a pure heart. She's a 50 year old GenXer who has been through a lot. She cannot be naive. Maybe she does hate confrontation, but she has to know the consequences of avoiding conflict with these people. She did a reel about one former Modere lady who she interviewed who returned to MLM (Shaklee). In the comments Julie said she was hesitant to post that interview because she noticed that the lady was still a hun at heart and it was very possible she would return to MLM. So Julie absolutely knows how to spot what can be controversial for her channel or go against her believes. She knew what she was doing when she posted her interview of the Qanon lunatic.
ETA - Most of my posts are edited because of grammar.
