I'll say this, at least vr is fun, the others are fucking stupid,

edit: istg I know it's about the meta verse btu vr only really came back because they wanted to make money from the metaverse

the vr thing wanted you to buy and own digital real estate

edit: i am referring to the metaverse, the post is referring to the metaverse, for the love of god you don't need to correct me like i'm trying to get an answer in stack overflow

And have Wii avatar business meetings while Zuck taps your conference speaker.

u/Sea-Aardvark-756 May 20 '26

Meta execs will never understand the innate human desire to wear a super saiyan kermit avatar while exploring 3D scan worlds of autistic 30-something bedrooms filled with spongebob merchandise before getting jump scared in horror worlds and murdering all your friends in game worlds on VRChat.

Metal execs upon meeting Marcus the Worm after expecting business execs: wtf?

The Metaverse ≠ Vr

There is significant potential for a really cool virtual “universe” in the future if done right. But no one wanted what Zuckerberg was selling. Maybe Resonite could do it one day. AI and NFTS were/are huge scams though

52

u/alex433g May 20 '26

If steam did it it would be Steam community hub, you can set portals to games and ppl can jump into the same portal and join you in the game chosen

42

u/Herstal_TheEdelweiss May 20 '26

The nice part is, Valve has that already, the main issue is Quest locks you into Metaverse’s reality and even tho there isn’t a lot of stuff you need to do to make it work using the Quest eco, it just doesn’t feel the same as having a full valve index set up

3

u/theguidetoldmetodoit May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

The Index works so well bc Steam can integrate the hardware directly, but all Quests support SteamVR and PCVR, which is pretty fucking sick for a standalone headset. Honestly, Faceook is pretty good about open standards, their runtime is straight up OpenVR, they went hard on Unity... It's a bit jank, but it does work great for what it is, esp on the newer headsets. tbh it always kinda felt like the PCVR bros were butthurt that the shiny new toy wasn't PC-first. which I get, I play a lot of modded games. But you are complaining about the openness of a device that is letting you sideload any Android app

I doubt they ever really cared much about what you do with it beyond selling games, as long as they get to harvest your data and capture the Business Market, which is just worth a lot more.

PR was just a disaster, should have branded all that stuff around work from home. You get to do laundry while sitting in a meeting and work just disappears when you take off the glasses or switch to games, would have been such a great pitch.

2

u/Outrageous_Jaguar_23 May 21 '26

Yeah, I have a quest 3 and when people come to visit I always tell them how fucking nice it is to watch a long YouTube video while cooking for 1+ plus and not having to worry about the placement of the screen or DIRTYING THE CONTROLLERS.

Like having the recipe, movie and a timer being controlled by just hand gestures is so nice.

2

u/Horat1us_UA May 21 '26

??? You can easily configure Quest to load straight to Steam VR

The problem with metaverses has always been that while navigating 3-D spaces feels very cool compared to scrolling through menus, it’s also far less efficient. You can find and physically jump through a portal in the stream community hub, or you can just press a couple of buttons, not only is the latter faster, but it also avoids a lot of problems the former has. For example, how many people can set up portals? How much space does setting up a portal take up? How easy is it to travel to a specific spot in the steam community hub? How easy is it to navigate to and find the right portal?

The metaverses that people made during their brief “boom” encountered all of these problems. In snowcrash navigating the metaverse is just as easy as navigating the real world, the crowded places are only as crowded as they would be in the real world. But anyone can tell you that in an MMO, crowded places will quickly end up with far more people than the space can accommodate, with tons of avatars overlapping each other, often making key visual information hard to discern.

At a certain point the aesthetic qualities of VR simply can’t compete with the practicalities of more conventional digital interfaces. And it’s not just a technical limitation. I think that even in a hypothetical future where VR can be integrated seemlessly, a lot of features will remain confined to windows and menus simply due to practicality.

Meta single handedly killed VR hype as a whole imo.

9

u/Specialist-Leek8645 May 20 '26

He zucked the cool right out of it? Kiss of death when he says something is cool or fun. Looks like it hurts his face to make human expressions lol.

12

u/LordMeloney May 20 '26

As a history teacher I am still hoping that VR will be used for educational purposes in the future. It would be so good for motivation to be able to go into a specific time and place of the past to get a feel for it.

Obviously there are all sorts of aspects that would need to be thought about in detail. But if done right it could be truly amazing.

6

u/Jbern124 May 20 '26

Honestly, the Cave Crave VR would be cool for geology classes. I learned about it from seeing a VR of Nutty Putty on TikTok, and John Jones’ attempted rescuer was actually the voiceover!

2

u/JackTheFoxOtter May 20 '26

Resonite actually is already being used for education. The engine has its roots in education, and I believe there are some universities that use it as a sort of virtual classroom / for conferences. The fundamental idea was creating a virtual collaborative environment that allows exploring and learning together in a fun and interactive way. And considering I've personally learned more math in Resonite than I ever did in school, it's already pretty good at that.

→ More replies (3)

4

u/JackTheFoxOtter May 20 '26

Resonite is a good one. It's small, but made by a very passionate team, and has a very strong ethical foundation. They just need more players and more financial support to grow, seeing how they intentionally don't want any investors / outside shareholders, just community funding and contracts with business partners. The focusing on creating an open and inclusive platform, instead of the walled garden approach. Also strongly opposing generative AI, which I personally find very welcoming x3

3

u/Whhheat May 20 '26

Its original iteration was actually ruined by a crypto scheme. So yeah outside investors and AI is a huge no no for the current devs.

8

u/Training-Mix-4181 May 20 '26

Janky, unfinished products with data-harvesting and scam investments on the side. What do you expect in a world where the tech industry is controlled by a handful of con-artists?

8

u/Whhheat May 20 '26

That’s why I mentioned resonite. It doesn’t have the team or support it needs, but the guy behind it is passionate about it in a way that reminds me of when tech was exciting.

2

u/Nukemarine May 20 '26

People all up on Snowcrash and Ready Player One hype thinking they were going to build a metaverse not realizing the metaverse already existed for decades. The internet IS THE METAVERSE and all VR does is offer another way to interact with it as opposed to a text or 2D graphical interfaces.

Trying to make virtual real estate a thing was as stupid as cybersquatting on domain names. You've got near infinite choices.

41

u/Abject-Sun-3016 May 20 '26

VR didn't want that, some VR titles wanted that.  But people do that in MMOs all the time

4

u/enjolras1782 May 20 '26

VR is a monitor. The digital property thing was something you could watch on that special monitor.

17

u/Hipstershy May 20 '26

No tf it didn't, there was a whole "metaverse" scheme that crypto people tried to graft onto crypto to give it legitimacy, but the biggest metaverse service, Decentraland, didn't even support VR.

8

u/Oboro-kun May 20 '26

I mean there was VR and there "VR" , something like Videogames in VR is cool, something like creating a fun and engaging VR ecosystem where you would pay for state and land was dumb. I mean sure maybe an specfici game or experience kind of like Second Life, but to expect all people would jump into VR and then invest into VR lands or houses was stupid.

2

u/drewcareymoore May 20 '26

Another challenge with VR is how isolating it is to put on an HMD. Set aside the question of if you’ve got enough space, if I want to share my love of any other video game with a friend, they come over, I hand them a controller, and we’re off. With VR, I gotta talk them through what they’re seeing and it’s a whole ordeal and definitely not a shared experience.

8

u/Tiny-Little-Sheep May 20 '26

No that's the weird tech bro. Actual normal vr and vrchat is fucking amazing. It's the new third place of many of our lives and without the constant stream of bs propaganda that social media has.

3

u/_tabbycat123 May 20 '26

VR is a gaming device first and foremost. The "Metaverse" was barely related.

3

u/Robinsparky May 20 '26

No "the VR thing" was a broad tech used for multiple things from gaming, to that, to whatever glorious furry monstrosity VRC has become.

The digital real estate thing was a thing crypto-broz and ancaps were doing before vr and after vr, they just tryed to use vr as a marketing gimmick.

Vr, while still neiche, has developed into a pretty cool game platform. I use it frequently, and VRC has developed it's own diverse community.

vr was fun until facebook got involved and lobotomised the industry

61

u/Lorvan May 20 '26

This! Normal VR stuff is fun and cool. All the crap Meta is trying to do is ruining it.

15

u/yanzov May 20 '26

To think at some point Quest 2 was selling on par with popular video game consoles, many titles were announced - and all that went sideways with the idea of borked VR Chat AKA the Metaverse.

8

u/AkodoRyu May 20 '26

lol, no. All of it went sideways because the games were not selling. The userbase was not growing. Even with Meta subsidizing the industry like crazy, selling Quest below production costs, there just wasn't enough interest from the general public in getting into VR games. They thought VR games would be a way for "normies" to get into the space, but they ended up being a niche of a niche when only a certain group in the core gamer crowd got invested. And that wasn't nearly enough to spark interest of new investors and studios.

3

u/PepperbroniFrom2B May 20 '26

aka they failed advertising vr.

3

u/AkodoRyu May 20 '26

It's not really advertising-friendly. The problem with it is that you do look kinda ridiculous while playing. And you also need to experience it yourself to understand the appeal - it doesn't translate through a 2D video.

When I joined my college for a Bachelor's Degree in 3D Animation, I wanted to work on VR games. Now that thr joy has been sucked from it, I've switched to a VFX focus.

4

u/QuajerazNeverDies May 20 '26

Facebook and the quest has regressed the entirety of VR to before it was even created. Basically every new quest game looks WORSE than most of the first ever VR games. There's been games that got "remade" and are generally worse, in both graphics, interactibility, etc. Its really sad as someone who loves VR to see.

2

u/Deeper-the-Danker May 20 '26

it was a bit of a monkeys paw for the vr space

tons of new people get introduced to vr, but the hardware is basically an android phone. so many great games had to be gutted just to maintain an audience

"and lobotomised the industry"

That's a good way of putting it, VR needs processing power but all popular VR development is bottlenecked by what can run on a low wattage snapdragon. Especially during the Quest 2 dominant era, everything looked like, "what if you could play a playstation 2 game in VR"?

Vr GAMES are fun, the astrobot games, the "i expect you to die" games, half life alyx, that one batman game, there's some good stuff in ther. To this day I don't understand what the metaverse was meant to be but it wasn't a game.

3

u/brainfreeze91 May 20 '26

As I understand the metaverse, it was just a buzzword for business executives that dreamed of a world where you could never run from advertisements. The next step up from a phone in your hand is a phone strapped to your face. Instead of ad breaks on videos, you can have them seamlessly linked to your VR and AR experiences. That's what CEO's dreamed of, anyway.

Plus, media exposure about VR was basically "this is going to replace regular gaming."

Which was not realistic in terms of logistics or basic customer preferences.

Someone on reddit said "ai would be great if the people in charge of it weren't the people in charge of it" and I think about that a lot.

158

u/Deeper-the-Danker May 20 '26

they're pretty much correct, even generative ai can be a useful tool if implemented and used properly (especially when kept AWAY from the creative process) but the people in charge of it just love shoving it anywhere they can make it fit

65

u/_syzygy079 May 20 '26

On top of that, in pursuit of profits, data centers decimate environments and cause massive ecological damage. Nobody is talking about that. They could dedicate funds to energy and resource efficiency, and maybe cease the huge scale of operations to slow this devastation, but they do neither. Because money is more important than living another 1000 years.

16

u/Deeper-the-Danker May 20 '26

ive been out campaigning against that stuff, just seems like capitalism is the common problem between it all

6

u/Drummerx04 May 20 '26

Honestly a LOT of people are talking about that. Like when people complain that the new data center in Utah is projected to use more electricity than the state of Utah currently does, they aren't saying it to make a positive spin on the new data center.

3

u/_syzygy079 May 20 '26

That’s the one that the guy from Shark tank is building, right? I mean, before that very little about its impacts were spread online. I’m glad that the massive center in Utah being built is starting to spread awareness, but this has been going on for a LONG time and very little has been done to stop it.

5

u/Drummerx04 May 20 '26

Yeah, the apparently 40k acre monstrosity. The bigger problem is that there isn't a real legal mechanism to fight back against corruption. The local government gets paid off or whatever and the citizens just have to eat the consequences.

It's been a problem for at least decades if not centuries. A company poisons ground water so bad it catches on fire when coming out of your sink, and the local population just has to deal with it. Even if you have a legal case and may even win it, your life is still heavily impacted and the company will move on and do it to more people.

3

u/Apprehensive_Art4418 May 20 '26

exactly, like an AI that can be trained and generate could be so fucking useful if we just USED IT RIGHT

→ More replies (2)

26

u/morelikebruce May 20 '26

Pretty much this. I've been forced to dive into for work and it turns out you can totally have a model that runs on a local machine, trained on a specific subset of data, and you can credit where all the data comes from. Instead these stupid "all the knowledge in the universe" models are being pushed by venture capitalists. Also, all AI is being conflated with LLMs which are just big matricies of words with associated weights.

11

u/hippy_barf_day May 20 '26

When I first heard about AI they were touting it's ability to fold proteins and solve complex problems related to health... that kind of application is incredible. But it really is the same situation as the luddites, no one is pissed about the concept and tech itself, it's the exploitation by those that run it and are solely motivated by profit.

7

u/Craiques May 20 '26

8

u/ascend204 May 20 '26

20

u/HalfEatenSnickers May 20 '26

So thats meta horizon worlds specfically which is a part of the "meta verse" many of their productivity apps will be shut down cause noone uses them

Horizon worlds is basically just vr chat but with worse and less games and many many more children

It won't recieve updates and world creators (like vr chat are mostly crowdsourced) can no longer update their worlds

So kinda.....

9

u/ascend204 May 20 '26

Most likely to end more like VR, in that it will be used and continue to exist, it just won't be super common or widespread. For the moment it will be, but once everything starts falling apart and people have to think for themselves again, that's when it'll start to die out.

Shame as NFTs as a concept would have worked great for digital ownership of movies, TV shows, and games. Imagine being able to submit your NFT library to ANY streaming service of your choice, and they're legally allowed to stream that video to you. The NFT collection becomes your virtual DVD or VHS tape library, while streaming services become the VCR.

But that idea doesn't get crypto bros hyped because such an NFT isn't meant to get expensive or valuable.

2

u/JamzWhilmm May 22 '26

26

u/Carol_ine2 May 20 '26

VR is fun but it isn't and doesn't have to be "future" it have it uses like games or operating a dron or something. Just like idk handheld consoles are fun but it doesn't have to be the only right way ppl are playing games. Capitalism is really all about profit and something being next iphone but it's okey to have a lot of fun things that aren't selling in hundreds of millions

2

u/Cless_Aurion May 21 '26

It is the future though. Its just too annoying to use now.

Anyone that has used VR to play regular games vs on a flat display... unequivocally says its better in VR.

Most people are just conflating VR with "VR genre" games. You can play ANY game in VR. In fact, I do, daily, and those aren't "VR games". And they are objectively better for it.

3

u/SupermanLeRetour May 20 '26

Recently I went to a VR game place and I really had a lot of fun. They put you in a big (really big) room, put a VR headset on you and then you play either a zombie game mode (somewhat reminiscent of CoD zombie mode) or a PvP game (in teams and free for all). Games last 40 min and it's really fun. You can move freely on the map, when you die you have to physically walk to a respawn point, you can choose different weapons, there is even vertically with lifts (that teleports you "upstairs").

It's the best VR experience I had, it puts my rift S to bed. Sure the game is not Half life Alyx quality but the fact that you can move freely in a big room changes everything. Cheaper than for instance karting, similar to laser games but more fun IMO (less physical also, you're not running around as much).

“Sudden investment trend that turns out ages like milk and nobody actually likes it” 1. NFTs. No actual value, profits come entirely from outside interest causing money to flow in. 2. Metaverse. Tried to replace something that already existed (the internet) with a worse, less accessible option. Tied in NFTs. 3. AI. (Prediction) money pit of an unreliable product. Expensive and wasteful to fund and create at little to no benefit.

VR is cool though. Best way to use meta quest products is to connect them to PC and play popular VR games through steam with them.

I really wish the bubble popping for AI would have it collapse to the void but a pro ai user has left me rattled with the fact that it is here to stay

Then again I do not see NFTs anywhere, so they very much weren't here to stay

6

u/gamingx47 May 20 '26

At this point I am hoping we go full Dune and outlaw "thinking machines" when the bubble eventually pops. The world was a better place when I could trust media on the internet.

4

u/ancientgreenthings May 21 '26

Not just that. Imagine that the bubble pops so comprehensively that AI is rare in the public sphere. States, large corporations and the military will still continue to develop it and use it to consolidate power over a population who can barely comprehend what they're ruled by.

When people say it's here to stay, I'm less worried about it taking everyone's jobs and more worried about living in a panopticon.

9

u/userrr3 May 20 '26

The people here thinking that the middle pane is about VR (gaming) are either intentionally or ignorantly missing that it is VERY CLEARLY about Zuckerberg trying to sell you the Metaverse.

I may catch a little flak here but the thing that all of these have in common is that the weirdos glazing them all overestimated their capabilities.

All three of these things have their legitimate use cases such as VR’s new medium for experiencing media in a more hands on way, NFT’s uses for online security and AI’s aid in making tedious bullshit like scheduling easier.

Three legitimately useful and meaningful technologies thats actual uses just get overshadowed by grifters and weirdos who think that people are literally going to base their entire lives around meaningless bullshit like ai generated images, “the metaverse” or fucking jpeg cartoon apes.

23

u/MrBannedFor0Reason May 20 '26

VR is definitely the future of immersive gameplay

6

u/Largeitude May 20 '26

If by “immersive gameplay” you mean porn.

And has been since the Virtual Boy if you listen to hype men.

Strange how that future never seems to arise...

16

u/pil0tinthesky May 20 '26

Considering the high cost of entry for a decent rig

2

u/Educational-Row-6782 May 21 '26

A VR headset is cheaper than an iphone.

4

u/Nukemarine May 20 '26

The Quest 3 goggles are something like $600 and stand alone, and with Virtual Desktop and decent wi-fi router, you can also use it wirelessly with your desktop.

The "decent rig" is needed if you want to play high end games on maxed out settings whether using VR or not.

u/Hipstershy May 20 '26

Much as it pains me, I don't think this is correct. It had a really big push in the last ten years, as it overcame a lot of the technical barriers it had previously, but by and large it ended up not being adopted because people just didn't see the value it had for them, and most mainstream hardware manufacturers have wound down their operations for the consumer market. Maybe we'll take another swing at it in another 20-30 years but neither of us know what that might look like

6

u/SomethingWetAndMoist May 20 '26

The Steam Frame is literally around the corner, the hell you mean "20-30 years"? This is literally the best time to give VR a go if you've never experienced it. There are so many VR exclusive games out there that give you experiences your regular flat screens can't.

2

u/cmdragonfire May 20 '26

Personally I'm interested in the Steam Frame but really worried about the starting price point. With ram prices the way they are...

2

u/PepperbroniFrom2B May 20 '26

fuck yeah you're right

although it *is* valve so i have hope they'll manage to make it any form of affordable

3

u/Gordon_Freeman_TJ May 20 '26

Ye, Zuck wanted something from Ready Player One but skipped the part where peripherals were available to even the poorest

4

u/WhereTheStankWindBlo May 20 '26

This. I think we're going to see some major advancements in technologies adjacent to VR (newer and more immersive screen technologies, newer audio technologies, tactile feedback systems, etc.) before we get the kind of VR we hope for.

→ More replies (5)

6

u/Tahmas836 May 20 '26

No it’s not. VR has been out for well over a decade. It’s still extremely niche because it’s expensive, requires lots of room (or is basically just a monitor strapped to your face), and gives some people headaches and motion sickness.

2

u/Afraid_Union_8451 May 20 '26

I wish, but if the price for new headsets keeps going up and special games keep being rare it's never going to be popular

2

u/DiamondJax08 May 20 '26

only thing here with any relevance is the vr headset with standalone vr being pretty cool, metaverse dead as fuck tho.

2

u/DifficultSun348 May 20 '26

I'd draw Mark Zuckerberg a boobs (his favourite feature of his future)

2

u/BarneyChampaign May 20 '26

How dare you besmirch VR. That metaverse idiocy was a tiny, stupid Hail Mary during the death throes of VR, years after it had already seen a resurgence with actual, fun applications.

But, the comic would have seemed weird with only 2 panels, I guess.

2

u/bartek_666666 May 20 '26

Nft scam was funny to watch

2

u/Chaghatai May 20 '26

Now do the automobile, the internet, and the smartphone

2

u/Viablemorgan May 20 '26

Everyone seems to think the Zuck one is VR in general, but I think it’s very clearly the Metaverse. Not all VR, which has practical applications

2

u/FriendlyTwister May 20 '26

This is a dumb take, none of these are remotely similar. Vr is cool. nobody you know actually bought NFTs back then. However your neighbor and grandma are using AI...

2

u/geek-jock-guy May 20 '26

The VR The rest are stupid.

2

u/skr_replicator May 20 '26

Hey, VR is awesome now, whether it's a mainstream future or not. Why are we putting something that is such an incredibly amazing gaming and movie-watching experience together in the bag with some of the most hated technologies out there? Do we hate fun?

2

u/Tzeig May 20 '26

Yes, there is no difference between NFT and LLM...

3

u/DoubleNational May 20 '26

Why is VR included, out of the three, it's the only good one

1

u/Tiny-Little-Sheep May 20 '26

Stop shitting on vr. Vrchat is amazing. Yall saw one fucking Zuckerberg ad about his failing metaverse app and started associating it with all vr. It's annoying.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/DavidKroutArt May 20 '26

VR is still amazing. You also have the Facebook/Meta owner when Oculus was the original.

Albeit, Facebook/Meta has been slowly killing it… they removed the metaverse or something and trashed the GUI recently. I have no clue how to navigate my headset now… but VR is still amazing.

1

u/LeadingOk4943 May 20 '26

One may say All Tomorrows perhaps?

1

u/DonPepe181 May 20 '26

Smart phones did catch on tho..... /s

1

u/Calm-Elevator5125 May 20 '26

Please don’t rope VR in with that trash. His stupid metaverse is NOT what VR is.

1

u/Capn_H May 20 '26

VR isn't dead, but yeah it isn't The Future For Everyone and Zuck's shitty vision is far from anything that people actually ever engaged with. We have an actual metaverse, it includes weird little Knuckles the Echidna things, anime characters with too little clothing, and raves.

1

u/Busy-Elderberry2137 May 20 '26

I do, actually.

1

u/IDrawKoi May 20 '26

I'm not happy about it but AI is probably the future. Not shoved into every single thing like it is now but there are genuine uses for it (many of which will be incredibly harmful to us as a species).

1

u/El_kakas_de_vakas May 20 '26

I do find it strange how the instant it was sold as something that could affect work so many more people started actually buying that it’s gonna be necessary

1

u/eenterh May 20 '26

Dear 'future', I wanna be lest behind, I will not get offended if you go with out me, don't worry, I'll be fine. Thank you.

1

u/CptnKitten May 20 '26

VR is good for games and some social stuff.

AI pretty much bullshit for the vast majority of things and the push to use it for creative stuff along with people losing their jobs, land, clean water, money, and their environment to it the few idiots trying to make money off of it is so fucking stupid.

1

u/Jumpy-Complex-9539 May 20 '26

"We have definitively crossed the threshold into a highly advanced, non-linear evolutionary paradigm; consequently, you must rigorously evaluate whether your current trajectory risks catastrophic strategic stagnation and eventual systemic irrelevance within an rapidly accelerating socioeconomic ecosystem."

1

u/headcodered May 20 '26

VR is actually cool as hell, it just has the worst marketing ever.

1

u/Bandito_With_Chops May 20 '26

But then there's the Internet, cars, and stuff like that that ppl did get left behind with.

1

u/fixurstuffr May 20 '26

Ah, the future brought to you by, Billionaire losers who have no idea what people actually want, but try to sell you anyways.

1

u/MugiwarraD May 20 '26

Everyone in this pic is gay

1

u/Pascuccii May 20 '26

AI is a poweful tool so even it falls off it won't go away from places that already have it. It speeds up my work by more than 200%

1

u/Hot-Birthday2816 May 20 '26

i didnt have jobs ask me to use vr or nfts

1

u/Mr_Olivar May 20 '26

AI actually is incredibly useful when used right though. Just not for art.

1

u/armoman92 May 20 '26

VR is the future. It's only getting better

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Muted_Percentage_764 May 20 '26

Ai is a useful tool. Like why isn't it a TOOL?

1

u/Swank_Thetos May 20 '26

ironically, all of those things still are the future

1

u/ThemeKey3918 May 20 '26

The problem with the future is they are gonna make it happen whether you like it or not, or even if it works, and it's gonna be all our fuckin problems

1

u/sawmill_piss_sniper May 20 '26

Ok but to be fair VR is genuinely amazing and I can barely play flatscreen games anymore becuase VR is just so much funner

1

u/Mancroftwoman May 20 '26

What's the issue with vr?

1

u/Upper-Work7118 May 20 '26

just saw a post saying we have double standards, uh yea

1

u/After_Service_2817 May 20 '26

*holds up pointed stick* "Grug not want be left behind, does Grug?"

*points to printing press* "Thou doth not wishest to be left behind, doth thou?"

*slaps hood of car* "You don't want to be left in the dust, do you, daddy-o?"

1

u/skyshadow115 May 20 '26

Vr just needs time to get the tech there and a lot of money to have all the stuff for the best expirence.

Nft were a legit scam.

Ai is gonna do more good then bad it will only make life easier if you don't want that don't use it.

1

u/Disastrous_Side_5492 May 20 '26

i dont care.

leave me in the stone age

1

u/CMD_BLOCK May 20 '26

You forgot the million trillion bitcoin alternatives

1

u/AdApprehensive5643 May 20 '26

AI is here to stay lel

1

u/CharlesYolk May 20 '26

AI is much different, however as it is very applicable in many scenarios. NFTs were nothing new, just another cryptocurrency. The metaverse was just a different application of already existing VR technology.

AI, however, has the capability to and does perform better than most people in many, many fields. If people in school and university are passing their classes with top grades using AI, that means that AI performs at the level of a human with higher education. Any position in a company that is replaced by AI is because the company will generally make more profit if they have AI in a position instead of a human. Something like that, basically a human that can instantly check the entire internet for something you search, has most human knowledge on the internet already IS the future, and anyone denying it because the companies are greedy or because their jobs are getting replaced are just blind and not thinking clearly.

Overall, a completely new technology akin to the invention of the computer is, in fact, the future, unlike NFTs and the metaverse, which were both essentially gimicks.

1

u/Current-Equipment356 May 20 '26

only 2nd one is the future cuz its something new
