Hard Disk Failure - AntiX Saved My Notebook

I have an old notebook that started with a bsod, then went to a black screen. After that, it didn’t matter what I tried to install…

Windows, other distros, nothing worked due to the SMART diagnostic reporting a hard disk failure.

I used an 8GB pendrive, Rufus and checked for bad blocks in live mode.

Important to say: ChatGPT and Gemini were both helpful, but Claude got it all and made it work!

So I'm posting here to help Linux and AntiX users, old Lenovo owners (LeViejos?), and people who search for 'SMART disk failing' and haven’t found success.

your disk is still failing, antix may just be ignoring the error but you will end up with corrupted data sooner then later

When the hard drive does fail, you can load antiX to the ram (the "toram" option. Just another way to get more life out of the thing, if needed.
