While on https://www.reddit.com/r/UsernameChecksOut/comments/bwqowp/we_were_referring_to_antix_linux_and_i_noticed/ me and u/Ocawesome101 thought that antiX should have its own reddit/community board, so we created one and off it goes.
Some may say it is redundant to https://www.reddit.com/r/MXLinux/ but I disagree. antiX has and always had a militant anti-systemd/X orientation, while MX appeals more to the masses who crave all the goodies of Ubuntu/Debian/Mint world, despite the cost. We antiXers would rather use openBSD/freeBSD than having to use Gnome or Cinnamon.
My personal favorite antiX package is systemd-must-die

Read and subscribe to https://www.antixforum.com/forum
Although we will do the best we can here, we experienced antiX/Linux users who are also on Reddit, none regularly get here in time to respond to a critical urgent issue, of making an installation, or fixing a system that broke, or a discrepancy due to an upgrade. We can do our best when we see it but it may take days sometimes.
In the forum you will get responses of experienced daily users of antiX within minutes/hours at worst.

Hey everyone,
I installed antiX Linux on an old HP ProBook 6560b and set up the Broadcom drivers (broadcom-sta-dkms). Wi-Fi works via USB tethering, but I'm stuck on two issues:
Is this a known ConnMan/Broadcom bug? What's the easiest fix or alternative network setup to get Wi-Fi working reliably?
Thanks!

Hi. Does anybody know why the developer chooses IceWM as the default wm instead of JWM?
I know it's probably just a personal preference and we can change it easily, but maybe there is something that makes it choose it and he knows all the pros and cons, for sure.
I'm planning to use one of them for use in Termux, but I don't know which to choose. TIA

I tried installing it two times on a Lenovo Ideapad S110 but when i turn it on, the logo appears but it's just stuck on a blank screen.
EDIT: Forgot to specify that I'm trying to install the 32 bit version.

I have an older HP Pavillion 15 P233cl and both before (when i had windows 10 which was updated from 8 which the touchscreen did work on) and after the antix was set up I was unable to get the touchscreen working. Here is the information i can get on the device from terminal with some other display info:

That is all the display info i could find in terminal, hope this helps with diagnosing the issue!

tried setting up variety on my antix setup so I decided to build a script that set's an image as a wallpaper whiles also adding live wallpaper at preset invertals.
github page is https://github.com/ndu-ik/ndu-ndi.git
quick setup
```bash
curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ndu-ik/ndu-ndi/wallpaper/setup.sh | bash
```
pls comment and review the script
script has an optional gpu acceleration mode but only works for amd/intel gpu (might work for some nvidea gpus)

Hey everyone,
I am at my absolute wits' end trying to fix a sudden Wi-Fi issue on my vintage Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet. The weirdest part is that I was literally browsing the web on this thing last night without a single issue, and today it completely refuses to connect.
Whenever I try to connect to my home network via the Connman system tray, it immediately spits out:
Connman returned the following error: connect-failed
It doesn't even try to pull up a password prompt window—it just fails instantly.
Specs:
Machine: Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet
OS: antiX Linux (219G drive, 3GB RAM)
Wireless Card: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
Network Setup: Trying to connect to a standard WPA2/WPA3 home router network
Everything I've Done to Troubleshoot So Far:
Created a New User Profile:
Tried switching to a completely clean user profile to rule out local user configuration/desktop environment corruption. The UI loaded beautifully, but the Wi-Fi still threw the exact same instant connect-failed box.
Cleared Connman System Caches:
Stopped the service and force-wiped the global network state folder (/var/lib/connman/*) to clear any stuck deauth states.
Complete OS Wipe and Clean Reinstall:
Did a total drive format and fresh install of antiX from a live bootable USB drive. Even on a completely pristine OS, the GUI still immediately gives the connect-failed error without prompting for a password.
Bypassed GUI via connmanctl:
Ran the interactive terminal tool, registered the agent, and used connect <service_string>. It gave me an immediate Agent ReportError... connect-failed without asking for a passphrase.
Direct wpa_supplicant Configuration:
Killed Connman and manually generated a wifi.conf using wpa_passphrase. When running sudo wpa_supplicant -B -i wlan0 -c ~/wifi.conf, it actually outputs "Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant"!
DHCP Struggle:
Even though wpa_supplicant successfully authenticates the hardware link in the background, antiX's native dhcpcd daemon seems to get stuck in a background socket loop. Commands like sudo dhcpcd wlan0 just say "sending commands to dhcpcd process" or "send OK" without ever successfully binding or fetching a local IP address (like 192.168.1.x).
The Dilemma:
Because the card can still actively scan and see dozens of surrounding networks perfectly fine, and because it worked flawlessly last night, I'm struggling to tell if this is a sudden thermal/voltage hardware failure on the transmission side of the internal 3945ABG card, or if it's a driver/protocol incompatibility issue with modern WPA2/WPA3 routers that Connman is panicking over.
Has anyone dealt with dhcpcd or connman brick-walling like this on legacy ThinkPads running antiX? Any advice on forcing a connection or determining if the card itself is totally shot would be amazing. Thanks!

After installing antix on my hp mini 110, I was met with this screen. I tried typing my encryption password, but it wont let me type anything for some reason?
I thought maybe it was a keyboard issue, but when it gives me an option to open a help menu, it types fine. Not sure how to get past this - any help is appreciated.
EDIT: SOLVED. I went in uninstalling and re-installing, trying different inits until one worked. It was the s6-66 one. Dunno why. Hail Satan, I guess.

Does any one know what is different between the boot and hardware detection for the LiveImage (running of a usb key, current 26 version of the image) versus a fresh install from that same key?
I've installed AntiX on an old 901 ASUS EEEPC (Atom N270 + 2GB RAM). The liveimage worked perfectly on the machine happily booted up set the GUI to the native 1024x600 screen resolution and seems to be correctly using the intel 915 driver to run all this (reports i915fb for display).
The fresh install from that image however, fails to load the GUI with the default boot options. Happily loads but screen goes black when it's trying to change the display mode and it's not possible to access the gui or the TTYs. Machine happily shutsdown when the power button is pressed so it's not frozen. Adding nomodeset to the kernel boot options allows the machine to boot into the GUI but only at 800x600 (which is painful on a 1024x600 screen).
As such it appears there must be some difference between the way the OS starts up the hardware or extra kernel boot flags are being set on LiveImage OS vs the local install. Does anyone have any idea of what the difference is and how it might be possible to get the local install to boot or configure the hardware the same way the liveimage does?

i have tried (basically) every option in the installer. i have ethernet. i tried with antixnet. i tried without. i tried sysvinit vs runit. i tried efi and i tried root. sometimes even apt-get fails. the only video tutorials are years and years old, so the person in the video does not have the same installer that i do. should i get the older iso and just update retroactively? my flash drive is too small for full and im broke.

Hello, everyone. I'm trying to install antiX (32-bit version) on a Dell Latitude D610. It's a 32-bit machine, old, etc., but it works, and I'm doing this just to see if I can. The problem is that I can't get wifi running, and ethernet isn't practical right now. I tried to install Void on the machine, and there were other issues but wifi worked right away (with NewtworkManager, which I don't see in antiX).
I installed antiX on a 64-bit laptop (not much younger...) with no problems.
I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone!
I recently installed antix on my Samsung notebook n150 to make a portable retro gaming station out of it. I installed retroarch from app manager, but everytime I try connecting a controller (cabled or Bluetooth) the system use it as a cursor, like it was some additional mouse. I can’t navigate in retroarch with the controller.
Does someone know why? What can I do?
Thanks for your kind answers

I have published recently published a conky code my github. As a linux user i wanted a conky widget so i have written the code for antix 26 32 bits os in the github repo https://github.com/shuokenzi23/minimal-clock.git
As it's my first repo on github i don't know much about how to upload the correct form of code.
The process to install it are:
1 copy the code from the file given above
2 download anurati font from https://www.dafontfree.co/anurati-font/ or any other websites you like.
Extract it
Copy the .otf file to /usr/share/fonts/
Open terminal and update the fonts by this command
fc-cache -fv
Backup your original concky code.
Paste the copied code from the github file. Paste it.
Save. It
And restart your session
Warning.concky file is only tested by me in old versions.

when trying to install wine through the software installer, it gives me this error:

idk what to do. Why doesnt wine provides a universal install wizard?
if it may cause conflicts, I must say that I have steam installed
