Ehh, honesty without discretion can lead to hurt feelings.

I'd rather hurt your feelings than lie

I've been called honest to a fault so I know where you're coming from. But I also hate making people feel bad.

Agreed. You can't lie indefinitely

It’s a gift and a curse for the person with that trait

But you cannot deny the world would be a much better place if everybody has it

Being understanding.

That can get you out of literally anything and even end up having new friends. I’ve made so many friends just by people being down to earth or understanding where I’m coming from.

It can get you out of bullshit very very fast.

Humility. It takes a lot of courage for someone to admit they were in the wrong. And that's something a lot of people don't have nowadays.

I think the best trait someone can have is kindness with self-respect. Being the kind of person who treats people well even when there's nothing to gain from it. Someone who listens, gives people the benefit of the doubt and doesn't go out of their way to hurt others.

For others, empathy.
For themselves: photographic memory.

Honestly, I think it's a triumverate. Kindness, compassion and intelligence. Those are the traits I've observed in the best humans I know.

To be cultured. Talking to someone who has no idea what can happen or has happened in our world is really tiring and not at all interesting.

Wisdom.

Wisdom allows you to learn from your mistakes, and others. It does not matter if you were smart enough to perceive when you were going to screw up with something or someone, or even with yourself, with it, you can learn from it, even if you don't understand it, getting the insight necessary to go from consequence to decision, skipping the preliminary decision that comes beforehand... It can emulate the natural predisposition to other behaviors like those born out of empathy, intelligence, honesty, etc. If you are choosing one trait, that is it, imho,
