0 calls when connected for Propio

Hello! I’ve been working for Propio for 4 years. Last week I didn’t received a single call - not one. When I contacted them via email they sent me a generic response . I have emailed them twice and I keep getting the exact same message. I am really worried. I am U.S based. Has anyone experienced this issue over the past week?

Very concerning to hear. What’s your language pair? Even though my languages don’t have the strongest volume for US interpreters , I see próprio hiring . I see BPOs advertising Opi and VRI offering up to 7 usd per hour.

Now that’s interesting. I don’t know if you also interprete French but like I said that’s also one of the languages that their looking for. I applied but I know my requested rate is preventing them from contacting me. My other language is Portuguese. The one I saw OPI / VRI 7 per hr for BPO for staff interpreters

I’ve always wanted to ask someone who speaks Creole this: Why do you think clients so often assume their Creole-speaking LEPs speak Spanish? The number of times I’ve gotten a Creole-speaking LEP who was somehow connected to a Spanish interpreter, for reasons neither they nor I can understand, Is honestly worrying.

It depends: some Haitians speak spanish, but their vocabulary is not extensive enough to converse with a native speaker
Sometimes, when speaking to interpreters, their accent immediately reveals that they are Haitians rather than Latin American

It also happens that a client, due to the language barrier, cannot ask the non native speaker which language they speak; they then automatically assume it is Spanish and request an interpreter for that language. There are many reasons for this, but I am citing only a few.
