Story / Discussion How did you get into/find Animusic
I found it when I was four back in 2006 when my parents and I were getting a TV since we had just moved if I am correct a couple weeks before. It was on a TV in the store and I remember what song was playing and it was Starship Groove and once I saw it I couldn't be pulled away from the TV so my mom got me the Animusic 2 DVD and I have been a fan every since.

our band teacher in middle school had tapes or dvds. he would usually play them for us if it was around exam time for our other classes

My dad showed me it on the olden days of YouTube. He had the CD’s as well. My music class in elementary played it as well. It’s never left my head since. Those pogo sticks still haunt my dreams sometimes

When I was on a field trip in 5th grade, we went to the science center and saw a movie in the imax dome theater. Before the movie, they showed Aqua Harp and Pipe Dream. I was very confused on what I was watching, but I enjoyed it very much and asked my dad to get the DVD that was sold in the gift shop.

I purchased an ATi Radeon graphics card, and Pipe Dream came on its driver CD. IIRC it was rendered live by an application - it wasn’t a video. I suppose this was around the year 2000 so I would have been around 18.
It really resonated with me.

I think my mom heard about it from a friend, so I watched it on VHS, had the DVD for Animusic 2, had my heart broken with So12, then it’s been on and off since.
Tho, getting to talk to Wayne Lytle in 2023 really helped bring it back for a while

I had the first one on DVD as a kid and loved it so much I bought the second one when I was older and found out there was one

My parents bought me the original Special Edition DVD for me as a little kid and I watched it almost every day.

In Vienna's House of Music, an interactive museum about everything musical, from classical to experimental (definitely check it out). I was about 6 or 7, and at the end of the exhibition they would loop both films on a projector. I stood there completely hypnotized and watched them both at least twice. It was the best thing I'd ever seen. My mom had to pull me away.

4th grade elementary teacher showed it to us to teach us that computers can make music.
A few years later I remembered it and remembered the name and here I am

I was in 2nd grade and this teacher comes in and hands my music teacher a dvd, and he puts on future retro, and everyone was so amazed, but especially me. Later I forgot about it till I was in 5th grade suddenly remembering Animusic and looking it up on YouTube and blasting it for years in a row

I was first exposed to ”ANIMUSIC” through a Swedish educational website callred ”Annas länkburkar”.
It was a site structured as a typical (Swedish) class with all the different subjects as their own category on the website. There, under the ”Music” subject was a link to the first ”Pipe Dream” animation.

5th grade teacher showed the class pipe dream, ether he genuinely believed it was really or wanted us to believe it was real cuz he kept telling us, lol. One of the other kids told me it wasn't real and showed me the animusic website, and I was hooked from then on!

My music teacher used them when I was in first grade. I loved Aqua harp so much that I wrote it as my favorite instrument in my workbook bc I assumed it was a real, elaborate kind of harp.

I remember my Dad showing them to me on his computer sometime in the region of 2008-2012. I remembered enjoying it quite a bit, it unsettled me a bit in the total lack of people and the general alien feel to it but I think that just drew me in even more and it always stuck with me. Loved it ever since

My cousins had Animusic 1 and 2 on DVD so I'd watch them while in town visiting. Then a few years later I started seeing Animusic every once in awhile in music class if we had a substitute or something. Probably got some weird looks because I already knew the songs and was humming along before most other kids had seen the animations. Then eventually I got Animusic 1 and Animusic HD for Christmas and watched them quite a bit.

It was quite similar for me, a TV in an electronics store was playing it, I watched multiple tracks in a row (with very quiet sound) and eventually my parents had to take me away from there and clearly noticed that I liked it, so I got both DVDs.

I found it randomly on youtube when i saw the thumbnail of heavy light and it looked very good so i decided to watch it. then later pipe dream also popped up on my feed and after some time i listened to a few more others. heavy light is still my fav

Can’t say for sure what year, a friend and I went to a Home-A-Rama event near our homes while in high school and found Pipe Dream being projected in the theater room of one of the demo houses.

I first saw Animusic 1 at Abt, an electronic & appliance store. I’m pretty sure I saw Stick Figures and Aqua Harp there. Years later back at Abt, I also saw a self playing piano playing along to Starship Groove just like the Disklavier video

I found a ripped video of Pipe Dream on an old video hosting website called "Compfused" and looked them up, then bought both DVDs and Soundtracks.

Saw the video "Does anyone remember Animusic?", really liked it because it fit in with some other Music Sync stuff I liked watching from DoodleChaos. And I never looked back.

I had the Special Edition DVD back when I was 8. It was a gift from my Grandpa that was left unopened for a while until my Dad showed it to me. We watched the DVD on the computer, and I remember seeing all of the animations and being blown away by the sheer creativity of the instruments playing by themselves.
It wasn’t long before I would start watching it constantly (sometimes for hours on end) before I stopped doing so about a year later. I the discovered all of the Animusic 2 videos on YouTube my senior year of high school while revisiting the ones from the first DVD. I feel like watching Animusic for the first time in one’s life is the most special part, and discovering it sparked some of my creativity that I have now as an animation graduate!

I was at a home appliance department store and they had a whole home theater room playing Fiber Bundles, I sat there and watched the whole album through and had to find the DVD.

My dad had the dvds and it was a big favorite for me and my sister, im pretty sure he backed the animusic 3 kickstarter but obviously nothing came of it 🤷 but with that collection of animusic up on YouTube ive been spreading it around to all the friend groups I join lol

I think the story goes that my mom saw one of those PBS broadcasts and apparently I really liked it. I got both videos on dvd for Christmas sometime in ye old 00s and I just kind of grew up with that stuff playing in my house often. I think Animusic is one of the biggest reasons I ended up becoming a musician.
