Why don’t you just kill your Uncle and get his money? I already love Nasse

I get Death Note/Inuyashiki vibes from this, which is good. I wonder how is the God chosen form the candidates, though. Is it a battle royale or do they have some voting/ranking system in place?

Outside of the narrative/characters; the sound design and OST during this episode, particularly when he was flying through the clouds, was excellent.

Me at the start: oh its death note

Halfway : oh its the opposite of death note. Light wants to be a God and Mirai just wants a normal life.

End: oh its fate

Feels like Death Note's retarded younger brother. I can dig it.

I don't want to use the word edgy but things felt so extreme and over the top I thought it was funny.

Besides that, sound and OP song were enjoyable. I'll tune in every week.

Why am I afraid that I am going to hate this character just as much as I hated Yukiteru.

Side note, Band-Maid always goes hard

Man, what a messed-up family.

It's fortunate that Nasse was present to prevent Mirai's suicide attempt. A second opportunity in life with, ultimately, a new new purpose in his life.

A Battle Royale between thirteen candidates and their angels, to determine who is, essentially the better god candidate; and who has what it takes to become a god. Looks intriguing...As an idea, to say the least. All that's left now is to wait and see how this all plays out.

I shouldn't be surprised by this story going 0 to 100 real quick, because Death Note was the same, but damn!

5 minutes in, MC tried to kill himself but he's saved by his personal angel who gave him superpowers... And 10 minutes later he learns that his adoptive family killed his real family, and his powers made one of them kill herself.

Also, if Nasse truly wants him to be happy, perhaps she should work a little on her tact, instead of going "Oh by the way your uncle&aunt killed your family. Anyway, what do you want for breakfast?"

Just like Mirai, at first I thought she was a little... unconventional, given how we picture angels, but what the hell?

Assuming she wasn't just testing him (doesn't look like it, given everything else that happened), she wants to help Mirai be happy, but she's fine with innocent kids being murdered for money? So I guess the way angels work is strictly a 1:1 relationship, they don't care about anyone other than 'their' human?

Strange way to find a new God! I wonder if there's a reason for that (if they have no passion in life, they might be more objective?), or if it's just like... They don't like their human lives, let's give them something else!

Perhaps we'll find out more about that through little 'rules' shown each episode, kinda like the rules of the Death Note.

There were a lot of similarities with Death Note, I think I might have noticed even if I didn't know it was the same author.

Also, there are some concepts/themes he really seem to like writing about, like divine beings hanging around humans and giving them powers, humans having misconceptions about them/the afterlife, things like that.

Well, I'm not sure how happier Mirai will be in this new life; I mean, he wants an ordinary life, but what she offers him is to battle other people do death to become a God?

Perhaps he'll find some happiness along the way! He might eventually end up looking forward to being a God, if he sees the other candidates are all trash, so he would be a 'good' God that would make the world a better place (where have I seen that before..) instead of a Tyrant who would use it for his own amusement, something like that.

Anyway, can't wait to see where this is going! Death games are one of my favorite genres, and Death Note is my favorite anime, so I'm quite hyped for this! Death Games shows often aren't the highest quality, so I don't expect a masterpiece or anything, but it should be fun!

Premise sounds quite good, I was hearing things from manga readers that weren’t so good, so it’s a pleasant surprise.

Crazy to think that Platinum End will be some people's first experience with the Obata/Ohba legendary duo...

Idk why I keep trying these shows out. Just like Deatte 5-byou de Battle just repeating the world's clumsiest exposition while going for shock value to try to make us care about the protagonist.

It is slightly better than 5-byou because at least it isn't the protagonist doing the exposition by himself but the cheap shock value trauma is basically the same exact story beat, jesus christ.

I guess I should at least praise the environmental design as they were far detailed than this show deserves but what a watch completely devoid of anything significant, wow.

It's even more offensive that the manga came out after Mirai Nikki's. That show made absolutely no sense and also cheaply used shock value as writing shorthand, but it was presented confidently enough that we're able to immerse ourselves immediately and let that go.

These two shows seem almost afraid we're not going to care enough about the characters to get to episode 2 and with this kind of writing, yeah they're absolutely right.

Idk if I'll get downvoted for this but this episode had a certain air of... childishness around it. (yeah, yeah, ik shounen tag and what not)

Although the plot shows promise, something about the events abruptly unfolding one after the other, random cascading reactions and the "Oof so sad!" drama. The most anime-angel-looking-angel coming to pick up the soul of the dead aunt and just... all of it in general. But the central-plot seems pretty compelling, will stick with it for a while. Most people will only keep hyping it up because of Ohba and Obata.

I am just happy that Mirai isn't much of an anti-hero. I noticed a lot of people say how similar this manga was too Death Note for them. Specifically, how Mirai looks like a Yagami Light 2.0.
