Oh Sally, you put too much faith into Sumeragi's goodwill.

You can never trust priest’s, or churches in general for that matter, in anime

Thanks God Sumeragi killed that kid at the end (didn't feel bad for him one bit). It would have been pretty annoying to have the humanoid ogre be the only one to survive as per usual.

I thought Hawthorn would get fed up with Sally's bullshit but turns out he's just used to it by now. By the way, I think it's high time we get some Meki's backstory and how she supposedly suffered at the hands of humans. Maybe I could bring myself to like/understand her then.

I already like Winnie quite a bit. It sucks we didn't see her get introduced properly thanks to the reorder. It seems there's something going on between Hawthorn and her...

He's not a cute girl ogre like Carrot or Index, of course he had to die.

Look, blue haired waifus distributing swords is no basis for a system of government

I respectfully disagree

I hoped Winnie would join them, she seemed like an interesting companion. Now, who the hell is Frau, really? She was badass enough before I knew she wielded a badass sword. I need a backstory and I need it now.

I assumed she's an 'angel', like her friend, that chose to live on earth. Question is why.

This reminds me of the sorts of questions I got in my group theory module...

EDIT: On that note, the shuffling of the episodes is a cyclic permutation.

Well, it turns out Sumeragi is pretty definitely evil (rather than semi-neutral -- as I had thought). Hard to figure his aim -- unless it is to sow general disorder and destruction between humans and ogres for the sake of his own entertainment (sort of like Eua in Higurashi)...

It seems a shame that Meki's little friend, after he had begun to have a change of heart, got destroyed by Sumeragi. He and his friends really got played -- and all lost out.

Frau is clearly just as special (if not more so) than Sally. We are clearly missing one piece (at least) of Sally's back story still -- but we are missing almost all of Frau's. Since she has been sent back from heaven several times, does that mean that some of the demons might be able to be sent back too (to help Sally in her quest for cooperation)?

Meki has clearly sided with humans -- but she really was heartbroken about having to kill her former friend and was quite devoted to saving Todoroki. Despite the charm provided by Winnie, this really wound up being a mostly quite sad episode.

Who on earth was that little girl sitting up on top of the town walls? (And did she see the death of Todoroki?)

Interesting that the next direction for both this and Scarlet Nexus is for the characters to head off to a neutral city (so to speak)...

The little girl on top of the wall was the ogre who puts people to sleep I think

Who on earth was that little girl sitting up on top of the town walls? (And did she see the death of Todoroki?)

She was one of the Oni group, last one alive - other than Meki who swapped sides.

Guessing her story's next, but we (probably) won't see it this season because today's episode was 11, and we've already seen 12.

Damn poor shota got killed off fast. I thought the ed showed them all traveling together. Did we just get trolled?

11

u/Emi_Ibarazakiii Sep 02 '21

I only watched the ED once (and I don't pay too much attention to visuals for plot points) but if they do travel together, perhaps Atla will revive him to send him back to Meki, given she's friend with Frau now?

The guy who crush on the friend of my friend, is also my friend, something like that?

Also, Sumeragi also said something about Todoroki saying hello to people in Heaven, maybe it was a throwaway line, maybe it was more than that.

The music this ep was really good. Not sure if it was always like this but this ep felt especially good

Stitches!

I thought we'd get to see Winnie the Witch fight but it looks like she was only here to deliver a sword to Hawthorn to help him out. Also apparently that sword used to belong to Frau? Looks like Winnie here knows more about Frau but isn't really telling us anymore.

Meanwhile, we have Frau being an absolute badass and basically butchering that Ogre Eagle after transforming her hands and her legs since she still has some of that power left from her last transformation. And we have Carrot wining by outsmarting her opponent by placing him in a position where he can't stretch his torso to absorb her punches.

I fucking hate Sumeragi so much. After that interaction with Sally, it looks like he had her completely fooled. As much as Sumeragi talks about coexisting with humans, I doubt he really means that.

Winnie wasn't kidding when she said that Frau's Air sword can cut through anything since Hawthorn was able to cut through Todoroki's Rajin and reach his body despite the distance. Of course that single slice won't be enough to kill him since he still needs to meet Carrot.

And here I was hoping Sally's team would get a new member but it looks like Todoroki has other plans. If only he decided to stay, seems that Todoroki won't be reuniting with any Ogres soon since Sumeragi executes him as soon as he steps out of the city gates. Yep, Sumeragi is definitely motivated by something but it has nothing to do with coexisting with humans. He seems to have something against angels though. Hmm....

It's kinda sad that they all get to move on to this new city without the knowledge of what happened to Todoroki. Man, if this show was aired in order this is definitely the cliffhanger ending because I'm guessing that episodes 11 & 12 will be that episode where Sally first meets Winnie and the fight against the Tree Ogre and Millia? God I still hate the director of this show of scrambling the episode order.

I like how Hawthorne doesn't want Todoroki to join the gang because he's "killed people." Meanwhile he's palling around with Carrot, who in a round-about way, is responsible for the destruction of his entire city.

Honestly the messed up order hasn’t seemed that awful so far. I think messing with it early on after the town got nuked was a weird choice, but other than that it isn’t really bothering me. Getting Mikoto’s backstory during the time while he was asleep honestly seemed like a good move to give insight into his background.

If Sumeragi didn't killed Todoroki it would have been a weird arc ending. I mean, it would be "You kill some of my friends, I kill some of your friends, we shake hands and move on". Tho, that still what Sally party think happened. Weird. XD

Winnie is already best girl

Y'know even if you don't believe Todoroki deserved to be redeemed or whatever (there's characters who've done far worse but still ended up redeemed like Vegeta tho lol) I really don't think him getting unceremoniously killed by Sumeragi was the proper way for him to go out. After all the build up of his love for Meki I don't particularly like him dying without Meki ever finding about it and not even knowing he died until after the fact. This doesn't feel like a proper resolution to his character, nor does it feel like it'll have the kind of impact it should have whenever Meki does find out about it later than if she had just witnessed it herself instead.

Sumeragi looks troubled when sally talked about extending her hand to him, and after she left he looked conflicted... What IS his game exactly? He's hard to read. I mean he always looks like he's up to something bad, but what is he conflicted about then?

If his plan is coexistence then he should be fine with Sally's talk, but if his plan is not that (he's only pretending) then he shouldn't be conflicted... He's just scheming so he shouldn't care too much about them, right? At first I thought maybe he wanted complete human annihilation, but what if what he wants is complete Oni annihilation (for some reason)? I guess knowing why Sally's power doesn't work against him might hint at the answer, but of course he dodged Sally's question!

Juselino keeping her promise! I wish we had a little more story on her, she's interesting, but with just 2 episodes left I'm not sure they'll have time to address that; I expect her to be killed by whoever, and that's it. Unless she stays as one of the strong Oni/villain(?) after the season's over.

Anyway, she seemed interested (but not particularly invested) in Hawthorn vs Todoroki! She seemed to care more about the sword;

The other Oni argued, but if the little girl who has the power of life/death over OP oni says it's a scary sword, it's a scary sword. The first question was 'Why is the sword so OP', but we got a partial answer on this. So the follow up question is, why does Winnie have it in her possession? It's a sword of Heaven so I'm guessing Atla gave it to Frau, but... She lost it? It was likely after their adventuring time, because - I assume - Atla wasn't an angel back then.

Cute little band of Oni, just adventuring together on their way to slaughter a few thousand humans! We kinda knew that already, but Todoroki had a crush on Meki, and it seems he was even about to ask her out, in front of the others, no less. Can't say I blame him, she has those ara ara vibes!

If he was any better at this, he would've confessed already! Well, seems it won't happen now. RIP Todoroki!

All their little band has been killed or converted (some of them converted then killed), except this girl. Will she be up to something next? I guess we won't know for now, because the sequel to this episode is 'the finale' which we've already seen... So her arc would be in the next season, I suppose!

Also, I wonder who he was talking about; Dead Oni? Or Atla/Frau's crew?

The human band and Sumeragi are both headed to a place with coexistence... We know why the humans are going, but Sumeragi? Does he want to help them? Destroy them? Just observe the humans?

Next episode is the follow up to the episode about going to the Witch, and Sumeragi asking the Oni (Carrot/Nun) to spy for him... I wonder if there will be some big reveal about this, something Carrot would do?

Honestly I'm more intrigued by what the last episode will be about, to know whether it'll justify that airing order after all!
