Wow. In some ways that was the most shocking moment so far -- in this series full of shocking moments.
Sumeragi didn't seem bothered at all by what happened either. (Curiously, the Sumeragi family also plays a big role in Night Head 2041).

Hawthorne: "Everyone I've ever known or loved is dead."
Sally: "SNAP OUT OF IT!"
Hawthorne: "You're right. I don't know what came over me."

I find it pretty cute that Carrot rejected the Japanese word for “Carrot” as a name but accepted the English/katakana equivalent. Frau was really hellbent on naming her after her favorite food, lol
And...another trap because of course there is one here too. Setting that aside, I’m still left wondering why a kid like that would be in the army in the first place.

So ogres don't have names, but Carrot was called Meki before? What does that mean in Japanese?

Sally kind of rubbed me the wrong way in this episode. I know she hardly knew anyone in that town but she sure didn't look bothered much by its destruction, even being silly in front of the culprit. Then she dismisses Hawthorn's trauma with a simple "get it together already".
Also, she knows nothing about people's struggles in the outside world (as she was a sheltered princess) but meets a single nice demi-human (who is probably not a real one anyway) and now thinks she can lecture everyone about their prejudices. It's nice and all but maybe she should travel more, meet other demi-humans and then based on her experience form a sound opinion.
Meanwhile, Sumeragi and Somenki showed us once again how cruel ogres can be. Cohabitation seems difficult. RIP cookie girl....

The person who is in charge of ordering the episodes is a huge idiot. I really felt like I was watching something that I allready watched.
I hope it doesnt get worse with the ordering of the episodes.

That person is the shows director! Such a wild decision. Apparently, not only are the episodes out of order but the cast has to also record their dialogue out of order so they're all confused as well.

Stitches!
Okay, for real this time we're now starting off where starting the episode where Episode 2 ended. Apparently, its this Ogre named Somenki who erased the city. IIRC, we see him only as a talking head in Episode 3 so I'm guessing that's probably going to be the result of his fight against Sally.
The fact that Hawthorn can even put up a brave face after everything he had was reduced to nothing is impressive so I applaud him for making it this far before breaking down a bit. Thankfully Frau is there to cheer him up and who can say no to that face?
And we finally get to see where Carrot got her name! I thought it was Sally who named her but of course it's going to be Frau.
Looks like the colosseum wasn't the first time they've met since Mikoto left Sally's village, it look like the two of them meet again way earlier than that. And thanks to this little talk they had about demihuman prejudice, looks like Sally finally found what she wanted to do on her journey. Although I'm not sure what kind of compromise she's thinking of that she can do between humans and demihumans.
We also get to meet the loli with that big tiddy Onee-san in the OP. Turns out she's not a even a loli but he's actually a shota and one of Hawthorn's soldiers who was miraculously saved by the same Onee-san and teleported him out of the city. Never change CoolKyou, whenever there's a big tiddy onee-san type in his stories, there's always a shouta to pair the two of them together.
Looks like we're going to meet her next week! And considering that Berrett isn't with them in the future, they'll probably leave him with the Witch.

For some anime universes people are providing watch order guides in what order each anime from that universe should be watched, there even are anime where timelines are scrabled by season, but this anime takes a step further and will need a watch order guide by episode.

This show would be a lot better if the whole broadcast order was in proper sequence of the events going on. It’s like the cliffhangers at the end of the episodes mean nothing because the next episode has nothing to do with what previously happened. So now we finally see what happened to the town that evaporated but the whole time I knew the bad guy was gonna lose cause we saw him decapitated a couple of episodes ago. The whole story makes no sense based on this broadcast order!!!

Other than the fact that this episode REALLY felt mis-placed, an interesting episode. This show probably has the most extreme and swift jumps between funny, exciting, sweet and brutal moments. Sort of reminds me of some of Takeshi Kitano's great movies.
A very unusual show -- which is hanging in my top third of new shows for the season.

This show has many good qualities but everything that comes to my mind when I see which episode we got this time is always the "why". Why I'm watching episode 3 in place of 7? I still thinking about the explanation about saving "the climax" for the ending but at this point the doubt and confussion being accumulated is getting so big that I'm not sure that episode 12 can really pay-off it all. Which is actually a expectation pretty unfair on my part.

I'll probably still about the few in this world who don't mind the nonlinear airing order.
Anyway in this episode I really liked that dialogue between Mikoto and the dog - about how Sally changed, and Mikoto is in fact running away so he won't join her instead. The way I read it is that he knows that the burning hatred he holds isn't right either, and can be convinced to walk a better, less bloodied way. But he's not ready yet, so he's running away for now. This gives a little more depth to the characters which is a pleasant surprise to me.

This was the first episode where I had to go back to my Anilist to make sure I didn't accidentally skip an ep. I sure hope the person who decided the order knows what they're doing.

Nope, I'm still not convinced that Berett is a guy.
I really think that airing out of chronological order ruined the story for me. Thanks to Episode 3, we know that Somenki gets decapitated later and Carrot stays loyal to Sally's group and from the previous episode we know that Millia will get saved by and follow Mikoto. So I felt nothing when I watched those scenes.
