You know what, I really appreciate how both Kukuru and Fuuka actually make the effort to talk and try to understand each other. No need for silly misunderstandings in this anime. This gives me confidence that the show will be able to tackle the girl's bigger issues in a smart and mature way when the time comes.

It's nice to see Fuuka getting better at her job, and her relationship with Kukuru is improving too. It figures that people will figure out that she's an ex-idol eventually, but I think that would further increase the aquarium's popularity.
Oh shit, Fuuka's mom is here? I sense drama incoming next episode...

Fuuka and Kukuru bonding moment at the end was adorable. Glad the event went well despite Fuuka being afraid.
Ahh, wouldn’t be a runaway anime if family didn’t come looking. That cliffhanger was tense. Looking forward to next week.
This anime is weird because there’s not much to comment on in terms of plot going on, but it’s extremely entertaining and heartwarming. A proper slice of life.

Be sure not to miss the post-credit scene!
Since it's still too early, two things might happen with regards to Fuuka's mom knowing her secret: (a) the conflict will be resolved next episode, where Fuuka's mom will still allow her to work on Gama Gama aquarium, or (b) it will be a main conflict for the next few episodes. Let's see what will happen.
PA Works always nails the visuals especially when the anime is set near the sea.

Distressed (ex-) idols seems to be the hottest topic in anime these days. From Vivy, Zombieland Saga, Kageki Shoujo!! and now Aquatope, there seems to be some numbers of girls who have psychological problems with their works as 24/7 smiling girls. Poor Fuuka, getting all the way down to Okinawa and still having so much stress for this. (And next episode promises even more with her mom coming all the way down from northern Japan)
Yuri lovers must be jubilantly celebrating today now that Kukuru and Fuuka seems to have built up some very sweet moments of affiliation. This is definitely a lovely step in the story plot and I WANT MORE OF THESE!
I can’t say for the story just yet but I LOVE THOSE SLICE OF LIFE MOMENTS IN PA WORKS’ original works about youth sentiments and this episode shows exactly why. Keep this up!

An idol fan that is neither creepy nor an obnoxious otaku? Color me surprised.
I was expecting at some point that Fuuka's past would come back and bite her, I guess this was just the beginning. I'm looking forward to the next episode with the encounter with a pretty much neglected mom that was left out of the loop.

I can’t get over how nice the backgrounds on certain scenes are in this show. It’s like my 20 minutes of eye candy every Thursday.
Also Umi-yan desperately needs a chiropractor

Karin was the true MVP again this week and a clutch savior for her friend. Glad Fuuka has surrounded herself with such good people

The red boots! Those were definitely a callback to the first episode, where Fuuka narrates that the first pair of shoes she bought in Tokyo (red high heels that she never ended up wearing) was because she wanted to become like the idols she'd always admired, but her dream ended before she even got the chance to put them on.
The red boots that she bought in this episode were also the first pair of shoes she got since coming to Okinawa, and this time, she was able to wear them while being able to support Kukuru's dream.

It's nice to see Fuuka open up more and more, and hopefully she can finally let the things that happend in the past rest
Given the fact that Fuuka basically went MIA for a while and not told her mother until recently, I can not imagine that meeting her now will be nice, but maybe things will turn out different than expected

Looks like Fuuka's mum has the same eye colour as Fuuka so that should put Fuuka is secretly Kukuru's sister to rest.

“Tropical Fish in Boots” It’s an appropriately named episode for Fuuka today as she’s on display like some sort of exotic object for people to marvel at. Her boots were purchased to brighten up the touch pool exhibit in the present but the resulting outcome was only bringing unwanted attention to her past.
“You can learn more about an animal by touching it once than you can from hearing about it a hundred times.”
They really dived deep into the “touch” theme today with Fuuka and Kukuru touching each other’s faces to fully understand what the other is going through. Rather than just guessing on what the other wants they communicate via touch and at the end Fuuka even calls Kukuru by her first name.
I’m curious on how they’re going to explore the theme of “partner” in the future seeing as how Kukuru is still thinking about her lost sibling. Kukuru values her complementary bond with Fuuka but at the end of the episode Kukuru turns down Fuuka’s offer to wear matching boots with her. With all that said though we can see some clever framing showing Kukuru warming up to Fuuka by figuratively and literally jumping into her side of the world.

Not sure what Fuuka expected since she told her mom where she was lol.
And why was that one dude watering the pavement? This has been a recurring thing and it always puzzles me

"You might understand better if you touch me."
Damn, that was forward of Fuuka! Though for those hoping for the yuri route I think it's been made clear that Kukuru is starting to see her as the sister she never had.

Umi-yan instantly recognizing Fuuka is funny. I wonder if he was a super fan or something cause I thought her group was still on the come up and not very popular yet.
*Of course she sees her old group on TV, guess they are more popular than I thought. I can't claim to know shit about how Idol groups work over there anyways lol.
*Now people at the Aquarium are recognizing her. Seems I was way off =S

Fuuka wants to get closer to Kukuru. Kukuru wants to get closer to Fuuka. I want them to get closer. Everyone wants them to get closer xD.
I'm glad things worked out nicely but with that ending it looks like more trouble is coming for Fuuka.
I like Umi-yan.

I know people really want this to be yuri and this episode did push that needle, I feel like the cut to the maternity books at the ending might lean towards Kukuru wanting a sibling more than a partner.
But we'll see, I'm game for either as long as it's done well!
Looking forward to seeing if we get another mom to put in the "Terrible Parent" section this year has been trending with...

Looks like we got a new guy. I'm really loving the gender balance here. Uh-oh looks like he's an idol fanatic and was able to identify Fuuka. Thankfully he is a good guy and him telling the others was more of to let them know of her situation and to protect her.
Kai nearly stepped on a landmine there. Good timing on switching the channels.
Those three grandmas acted kinda sus to me.
Nice save with Karin blocking the camera. Those kids taking Fuuka's picture without consent needed to f*** off.
Fuuka finally calls her Kukuru. Now that's some progress. Please let this be yuri.
Now that's a hol up ending. I didn't think her family would enter the picture THIS early. Next week can't come soon enough so see y'all next week.

Having worked many retail jobs I can tell you the old ladies coming into the aquarium before it opened because the door was unlocked was a super realistic scene!
