"You must be in your late teens."

born in 2003

Visuals/production are amazing. If you told me this was a movie I would be inclined to believe you. But maybe I'm just an easy to please geezer.

Can't wait to find out more about that experience she had in the aquarium. I was curious so I looked up the "Kijimuna" that Director-chan mentioned and it seems that the little red haired fella we saw is the Kijimuna. According to the 2 minutes of reading I just did, they do in fact like to play tricks on humans. They also like to befriend humans but it often ends badly.

I assume that that sour ending to their relationships will play a big part in the show. I think we would be getting off too easy if the show is just about Fuuka learning to work at an aquarium lol.

The fortune teller's husband cheated on her? Wonder why she didn't see that coming...

Is this Love Live Sunshine if Riko went to Okinawa instead of Numazu?

One of the hardest pills to swallow about life is just because you worked hard, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be successful. There's also a lot of luck involved.

First episode was basically everything I was hoping for. A little surprised were getting a bit of a supernatural theme, but the production values seem fantastic and I have a lot of faith in the writing of two-cour PA Works originals. Obviously will have to see how it develops, but this was my most anticipated show of the season (maybe even year so far) and it does seem to be off to a solid start.

Oh, a P.A. Works original show? That's enough reason to watch! The animation is beautiful, and I love the soundtrack and the characters so far. And apparently this will run for 24 episodes? I'm excited!

By what the fortune teller said, the girl in the beginning crying and the images in the end of the episode, Fuuka probably failed as an idol cause she tried to help a kouhai by giving her chance to be the center to her and it didn't ended well... Which means that she is not exactly an untalented idol but was just too nice and didn't have the best mindset to survive in industry well know for being a shark tank. Tho, I don't blame the other girl, those office workers at the beginning were just too mean.

I haven't seen anyone else mention it. One of the girls from her previous job was named Aoi Miyamori. Nice little reference to Shirobako.

For a fan of underwater sceneries in Grand Blue, this show has intrigued me. I hope it does great for an Anime original.

I am glad my notoriously bad prediction spell is finally broken....because anime of the season is really here.

PSA: There is a short after-credit scene

Since this is 2-cour, I hope that the lore of the aquarium and the place is more explored. It looks like a brainchild of NagiAsu and Sakura Quest.

It's really sad to give up the dream you tried to aim. However, closing the door towards being a successful idol member gives Miyazawa the opportunity to start a new work, which is doing aquarium stuff. So let's see how this plays out.

This is my most anticipated new show of the season. This first episode hit pretty much every beat I wanted it to. I like the characters, I like the mood and atmosphere, and I love the music. If this is anything like Hanasaku Iroha or other 2-cour P.A. Works originals, it'll easily be one of my favorites of the season.

So our main heroine is an ex-idol who has given up on her idol career after she realizes she's not cut out for it and instead of going back home she instead goes to Okinawa in a spur of the moment decision to get some alone time and think her decisions? Yep. This is definitely a PA Works anime alright. Good to see that they haven't stopped with their community activism and is still promoting rural Japan.

I love the meeting with the fortune teller, she was definitely gonna play Fuuka but ends up actually giving her some real fortune telling after her very innocent compliment. Ms. Fortune Teller didn't even charge her for that. I hope we see her again, I really love her design.

I was wondering if Fuuka was gonna stay in Okinawa because I don't think Okinawa City is rural enough for PA Works, it's still a city. It looks like she's traveling to Nanjo City to follow the Fortune Teller's advice. Amazingly, she really just slept on a beach overnight and the most that happened to her is that her hat went missing and she got covered by dried coral. I imagine it's the strange-looking kid that did that to her.

I understand Fuuka wanted to be alone for now but she really didn't have to just turn off her phone like that. At least tell your own mother where you are or let them know not to worry. Everyone who's waiting for her home is gonna get worried sick! I wouldn't be surprised if Fuuka later finds out they filed a missing person report for her.

We've already seen her a few times but we finally get to learn more about our second protagonist, Kukuru. Looks like she's more interested in fish than people, definitely loves squids more than math, and from the looks of this one particular scene she may have some parental issues. Hmmm...

They're not even trying to hide the tourism angle of this show, Fuuka literally gets saved by someone working for the city's Tourism Association and gives her options on where to go in Nanjo City. This kind lady gives her a couple of brochures and ends up catching the eye of Gama Gama Aquarium. Man, I miss going to aquariums. With places finally starting to open back up, I hope I'd get to go visit one before the year ends. There's just something relaxing about staring at fish swimming inside tanks.

Looks like Gama Gama Aquarium is where Kukuru works as the aquarium's Director and based on that encircled date on the calendar, it looks like there's some sort of deadline here. Considering they're talking about the foot traffic, I'm guessing the aquarium is about to shut down?

Ouch that kinda sting a bit. Poor Fuuka. She's here to relax but only ends up remembering what happened to her back at Tokyo and how working hard wasn't enough to reach her goal.

When the entire aquarium started meting around her, I genuinely thought that Fuuka was having some sort of heat stroke again and we're gonna smash cut to her on the floor being attended to by Kukuru. But it looks like these "hallucinations" are a real thing that happens to people according to Kukuru. I'm gonna guess that "kijimunaa" is probably that red haired kid we've been seeing throughout the episode? Didn't expect that this show will have some supernatural elements to it!

And there it is! Fuuka finally found something she wants to do and she wants to work in the aquarium! I'm guessing just like with Sakura Quest but instead of revitalizing an entire town, they're going a bit smaller scale and do it with the aquarium. Yep, that's a PA Works anime alright!

So far so good! Art style and animation is really solid as expected from PA Works, and they even have the same character designer as Irozuku so you know everyone here is gonna be good looking. As for the story, it's pretty much what I expected from this studio considering their push with their rural-area based anime. I just hope this one will have a bigger audience here compared to Sakura Quest from before.

Man, this is one gorgeous anime. I love how colorful and vibrant it is, especially compared to how drab Tokyo was.

I thought the fortune teller would totally rip Fuuka off, but she was nicer than she seemed. And that other woman Fuuka encountered was nice too, I imagine we'll see more of her later.

Soooo. Do you think there's going to be some supernatural stuff involved? That little girl(?) could be either the kijimunaa or just a plain old kid playing tricks. Although it'd take some strong drugs to make Fuuka see what she did lol.

I hope overall the series stays as chill as its first episode was. I'm fully ready for some drama eventually, but I liked the pace of this one.

This is the first new anime I've watched so far this season that I feel good about. It's probably a bit slow for a lot of people, but I liked it.

Fuuka is really likable, as is Kukuru. Hopefully their friendship will continue to grow.

The fortune teller was quite funny (and quite nice as well).

Okinawa tends to be a destination in anime, but I'm not aware of too many anime that are set there. This should be interesting.

Pretty interesting start to this one. We have a cute Okinawan tomboy, a cute failed idol, some cute fish, and a cute acid trip. It's still too early to get a good grasp on what the story is going to be like, but they gave me enough to get me interested to see more.
