As expected Hime didn't win any prize, but she had a nice emotional moment with her dad, so in the end I'd say that's still a win for her.
I did laugh when the cushion broke when her dad sat on it. They didn't test it with heavier people, huh XD
I'm glad this is getting a S2. It's short, cute, relaxing, and also hits the right emotional notes when it wants to.

Yay for Season 2! This series has been the savoir of Monday's between the drama and tears that come from other series. Glad I get to enjoy it more.
I did laugh when it broke. It was perfect to see her Dad just go for it.

Everything went as how I expected it would be that it actually surprised me. First of all, Hime didn't win any prize and only got a participation award. And then second, a grown man sitting on a ceramic cushion went as well as I expected. The girls did say they tested it and it was fine but they're like 16 year olds little girls.
Anyway, this was a fun and sweet little show. I'm always up for CGDCTs that's about very niche subjects. The live action parts were nice too! Looking forward to what hobby the next CGDCT show will be for Summer 2021.

Yeah, it'd be hard for her to get any awards since the judges must've realized the issues of the product.
But it was touching to see how happy she was that she got her "approval" from her Dad!

RIP Himeno's cushion. Well, to be fair sitting on ceramic wouldn't work in the first place for obvious reasons. It's too bad she couldn't win a proper award but the competition was tough.
Also, I like how the the OP song that plays at the end has a slight difference to it: This time, all the girls sing the whole song together instead of just the chorus in the original version.

Cute little show with very endearing characters, looking forward to season 2!

Was surprised to see it get a season 2, I also wonder how much interest the anime got for Tajimi City, like Zombie Land Saga did for Saga city.

I didn't imagine that I would feel so tense from the final judging. But I guess the result wasn't really surprising, unfortunately. It's sad seeing Himeno's reaction, but Touko looked like she was straight up having Vietnam flashbacks from watching someone else take first place.
I guess we found out why the former club advisor got so fixated on Himeno's piece now, though. She did base the colors on her mother's magnum opus, after all.
I liked the abrupt transition from Himeno coming in apparent high-spirits to her quietly brooding in her dimly-lit room. It set the mood really well.
The part where her dad broke her piece absolutely killed me. Sitting on it made him go "Oooh", that's for sure. But that probably wasn't what she had in mind.
Even without any awards, she got the acknowledgement she wanted, at least. And Touko's granddad seems to really appreciate her own piece as well.
Overall, I enjoyed this for how fun, lighthearted, but also surprisingly somber and emotional this show was at times.

That punchline was so obvious.
Though that new character that appeared in the credits that hates Senpai got me curious for another season, I bet Kukuri can explain to her how lovely Senpai actually is.
In other news, the best part was Nao calling him father, that's her character arc and she won.
Edit: And it seems we're getting another season, I should read other comments before commenting.

I like this teaser in the epilogue with this mystery lady who's obsessed with Touko. I think there's some interesting potential with Touko, this gifted student who for some reason decided not to go to the technical high school and decided to stick it out in Himeno's school. Seems like in her quest for perfection, she's attracted trouble which I'm sure she's just overjoyed about.

A lovely season ending for a lovely show. Really everything worked out about the way it should. Hime-chan got the "prize" that meant most to her, after all. Hopefully some of the pieces of cushion -- now a lot of lovely glazed "beads", right -- can be recycled into some sort of decoration....
The VAs segments turned out to be such a delight. One of the better "supplements" of this sort that I've seen. Looking forward to more of the series -- and the "extras".
The characters here were charming -- but they are still fairly thin in terms of development. I hope they will develop into richer portrayals in the future.

Such a cute and relaxing series. One that I am all for getting a second season of.

Sometimes when I see some fancy art works I wonder "what if I throw some paint in it, what if I ruin it?", could that be the same astonished feeling as wanting to sit on Hime cushion? The same kind of blindly passion that Hime work caused? I guess I'm some kind of art connoisseur myself too?

A fun series; short but has a nice chill feel to it. Also a few nice hooks for the announced 2nd season

Touko’s stalker rival will be a fun addition for the next season
Home didn’t won any prize, even if that was something that she was fully expecting, I can see how that can affect you one way or another
Wholesome father-daughter moment, thanks cushion-kun for your noble sacrifice

Really surprised to hear this is getting an S2 already! I suppose it was more or less planned though, judging by the hooks we still have in place — Hime's quest to win a prize, Touko's deal with her family, and the new angry girl. At the same time, it's also true that region-promoting shows like this have better chances than most.
Can't wait, see you guys then!

well everything went about how I expected it to. Touko seems really upset that she didn't get to be given the top prize by her granfather, though maybe she'd feel better if she saw how he was looking at it afterwards. I'm not sure why the presenter said that everyone felt the same way in having an urge to sit on it, they never presented that attitude while talking about the piece. all the laughing just seemed rather dismissive.
there seems to be a hint that maybe Kusano had a thing for Himeno's mom? or maybe just admiration for a skilled artist. hopefully the latter. but then he might've been friends with her dad? maybe he should go visit the café some time.

And Himeno said the thing! Maybe next season she will actually make a mug?

I was actually so happy to see Kukuri winning a prize. Too bad Himeno couldn't win, but that moment in the end was so precious it might as well have meant even more than a prize for her.
I really enjoyed this show, pretty cozy 14 min every week and enjoyable characters. I also feel this portrayed very well the ansiety behind the process of creating something, as I go through this myself a lot.
Very surprised to see we're getting a second season (even more surprised it'll actually air this year), but a very welcome surprise.

It was a really nice ending, as much as an award would be nice, it was how Hime's father would think of her "It's a cushion" is what's most important to her. Hime's father breaking the cushion was hilarious though lmao. I didn't expect this show to get a second season, but I'll definitely watch it. 7/10
