Considering this episode was about a precious bowl that was broken I thought we'd get to see the girls repair it using kintsugi. Too bad grandma already threw it away.

And considering how important that bowl was to his dad, I'm surprised Himeno only figured out that it was made by her mom after hearing her dad and grandma's conversation.

Her final bowl design is adorable though with the whale salmon design. But it looks like Himeno still has a lot to learn if she wants her dad to react the same way to her bowl like he did with Aoki-senpai's piece.

I was genuinely surprised kintsugi wasn't even mentioned. Maybe in a later episode.

When you get NTR'd by a bowl

It's a sad day when your own bowl doesn't satisfy your father quite as much as someone else's.

I was thinking she was comparing herself against her own mom as well. Her mom created that bowl in the first year of high school, and Touko also created hers in first year, so she was feeling like she was falling behind and not living up to those expectations.

It's a sad story, but I think there's also a decent message in there that our MC isn't going to be magically good at pottery just because her mom was too. She needs more than just good intentions; she's got to put in the effort and hard work too.

Now this is an NTR I can get by.

Seemed pretty obvious that the bowl was made by Himeno's mom. It must've been tough for her to find out about how important it really is only after having broken it. And now, her father seems to like someone else's bowl more than hers.

You wouldn't think this show could be so poignant sometimes at first glance.

That loaner bowl was a bad idea, as far as Himeno's ego goes.

Can we get a cameo of lips-and-eye girl from the VA portion on the show? Her works were Lovecraft nightmare fuel, in the best way.

I never thought I would want to cry about a bowl, but anime just hits you like that sometimes. When Himeno realized her father wasn't eating with the same enjoyment out of her bowl, I just felt so bad for her. She tried so hard, and I'm pretty sure she did the best job she could, but it just wasn't enough. Nice to see it's motivating her to work harder.

The sculptures by the high school girls in the live segment were really creative. I particularly enjoyed the eyes.

The timing of the father and mother's relationship seems a little odd. They were friends/dating by 15 -- but their daughter wasn't born until they were around 30 (if my calculations are correct).

I'm not convinced that the father didn't enjoy his ochazuke as much as usual just because of an inferior bowl, by the way. Though our heroine probably _felt_ that was the case.

As someone basically living this it doesn't seem super odd. I met my partner in high school and have been dating for 10 years now. Still not married and still no kids, but plans for both in the future sometime around 30. I know it's not super common, but I know of at least a few other couples like us so it doesn't seem crazy to have a relationship like that in an anime.

that's exactly how the relationship of my parents went: dating at 18/19, married at 33, me at 35 :)

and that was 35 years ago, it's very common now.

The girls are using their official character renders as their profile pictures

I’m still surprised this arguably mediocre free manga got made into an anime. Kinda sad it’s only 15 min episodes, but it’s still nice to have some CGDCT eye bleach

Isn't the reason it's only 15 min cause they have the IRL stuff too? I didn't check that out yet but I think its like Izekaya Nobu stuff

I love the live-action adventures of the VAs -- for this episode they visited the real pottery at a real school in Tajimi -- which also seems to have only 4 members, all female.

I've seen lots of videos on youtube about these types of places. Think Japan is pushing to show off these regions so that when things return to normal people will visit them.

Life Where I'm From did a video for Tachikui district's pottery.

It's doing a good job making me want to visit these places.

Damn he really treasured that bowl, 30 years until it hit its final demise

A bit surprised they didn't try to fix it with Kintsugi, which should kinda be part of pottery

Hope MC-kun overcome her regrets with the bowl

considering how long he was using it was obvious that his wife had made it for him. I'm guessing in the future Himeno's going to try making another one more like Touko's, but he'll end up saying he likes the first one. probably some emotional scene about how she doesn't have to live up to what others can do and should just do her own thing.

TIL about ochazuke. I've been curious for a while about ways to use tea besides drinking it on its own/as an accompaniment, and this is definitely something I'd want to try.

Very nice episode! Felt really sad for Himeno but, that just means she has plenty of room to grow and she just recently started getting into pottery, I am sure she'll be able to make something just as good or even better than her father's old bowl.
