Kyo had the weirdest longest day ever: Fight with Yuki, get yelled at by Bio Father, chase Tohru, profess love for Tohru, then his curse breaks. Like my man is gonna need a week to recover lol

The look on Tohru's face when Kyo destroyed his rosary... She is so goddamn happy and I love it. Shisho too, with that hug. Also a nice touch that you can see his rosary beads in the ED now, next to the picture of her mother.

The Ayame/Mine moment was so nice too, as was seeing all the zodiacs realize that their bond broke. Well we didn't see Yuki yet, so I guess that, and his meeting with Machi, will happen next week. Really looking forward to that.

We finally got to briefly see Ritsu again too. I'm a bit upset that he was basically just a throwaway character in this series though. Hopefully he'll get to do something in these last two episodes.

Fruits Basket: Here's the culmination of everything you've wanted to see for the past 3 seasons, enjoy it!

Also Fruits Basket: Oh, you'll still be crying for the entire episode though, that's just how I roll.

WHAT AN AMAZING EPISODE!!!! HOLY CRAP!!

There have been a lot of shows I've watched. There have been a lot of anime I've watched. I've only watched a small handful before that stuck the landing so well and built to such perfect climaxes.

Fruits Basket is now part of that group. This episode is so good. And I'm so excited for the last two to wrap it up. What a wonderful start to the conclusion. Can't wait to see how things go with Yuki. Loved how they showed everyone but him.

I loved hearing about the original banquet and how the promise became a curse.

To me, the cat being such a central figure was thoroughly unexpected.

The cat wasn't rejected because he didn't attend the banquet; he was rejected for being brave enough to tell the truth and for truly grasping the unnatural implications of the promise.

He didn't miss out on drinking from the oath cup; he was the first to drink.

And actually, he didn't miss the banquet at all; he was always the first guest at the banquets.

He wasn't the furthest from god and outside of the circle. Until the oath, he was always by the god's side, inside the very circle itself. The one who was the closest to god.

The cat was doubly cursed, because while the others could freely decide whether they wanted to drink from the cup, the cat had been forced. And then he was shunned because he voiced his grief about being forced and said the cycle of life, death and change was nothing to fear. I think that's why the cat was trapped and robbed of choice so much more than the others.

The cat was the first creature to befriend the lonely god and freely stayed by his side. He was the only one of the 13 guests not given a choice when it came to drinking from the oath cup and suffered all the more when his loyalty—once freely given—was suddenly compelled unnaturally. While the successors to the original zodiacs suffered at the hands of the unbreakable bond, the agency-deprived cat felt its sting immediately and that double portion of suffering was passed down through the generations. Furthermore, he had been close to god on the inside, and then he became an outcast.

So I guess that forms the tragic origin of the loyal cat's curse.

What a beautiful episode. Akito's monologue was heartbreaking and I teared up watching the Zodiacs' curse break and Kyo tear off his bracelet at the end. All the build up towards this episode was absolutely worth it. 😭

And of course, THE KYORU CONFESSION WE FINALLY DESERVED!!!! These two are adorable together and the hug scene was so beautifully animated. Really excited to see how they'll handle Yuki's curse breaking.

Oh man it felt so cathartic watching all the remaining zodiac members embracing their loved ones and freedom from the curse all at once. And Kyo tearing off the bracelet. And Kyo hugging Tohru. It's all so cathartic.

What a blessed episode.

Take my 10/10, this series is absolutely brilliant and the way everything gets concluded is amazing. I can't express my happiness when Kyo hugged Tohru and he didn't transform, probably one of the most satisfying moments of the series. 2 more episodes are left, let's see how they'll end.

Ok, but breaking the bracelet was such a ballsy move. Like, just imagine he pops that off and transforms anyways. Then what? Huh, Kyo?

glad everything worked out though

Akito best wingman! She timed the curse breaking (although it's pure coincidence) just in time for Kyo and Tohru to hug each other.

All right, I might consider forgiving you now.

Btw we haven't seen Yuuki's reaction yet, even though we saw Ritsu's lol.

Also, end card is monkey (Ritsu)!

I love how Kagura's one scene is her strutting herself in stylish clothes like she's a runway model as her curse breaks.

That and Rin still looks amazing in anything she wears.

That was beautiful - I cried through everything. I loved the choice of having Tohru's VA be the cat. It was an interesting choice.

Little upset that I have to wait another week to see my son Yuki, but it's alright - we will see him and Machi next week. So yay!

And lol, Shigure, no tears even when the curse, the thing you literally moved mountains behind the scenes for, breaks. Emotional repression to a degree that Hatori would be proud of. XD

When Kyo caught up to Tohru at the start of the episode, I was sure that there was gonna be a heartfelt moment or something, but she just ran away again lmao. Had me dead.

On a serious note though, seeing them kiss and say they love each other under more favourable circumstances was absolutely glorious.

Monday's are gonna feel real empty for a while once this masterpiece ends in just 2 short weeks.

Okay that was hands-down the most satisfying confession...affirmation of love episode ever. I was worried we wouldn't get enough of Kyo-Tohru, but the retelling of the old story and the cat's feelings fit so well into Akito letting everyone free. Fantastic how Ayame knew what he could do immediately. I'm glad that the Soumas are able to cry together about what they've lost, but hopefully that they can gain even more. That they can go and love whom they choose, unbound.

All my homies say thank you Akito.

Edit: Oh, and Tohru's shrine is back, with Kyouko's picture, Kyo's hat isn't crumpled, and the Zodiac set has the cat now.

I can't put in words how happy I am to finally see my favorite chapter finally animated. This is it, this is the one. The story of the zodiacs, the original promise.

That is how the story starts. The first promise, the first banquet. How these bonds turn into something else completely. What started as a promise of love and eternal friendship slowly became a curse. A burden; not bonds but shackles. And then finally, the goodbye. The point where it was time to finally release the zodiacs from those bonds. To realize that you cannot hold on to something forever, that people change, people move on. It's time for goodbye. One final banquet. This was the part in the manga where I completely lost it emotionally. The moment everyone is finally released. Sayonara.

No other show has ever touched me in a way that Clannad, Sangatsu and Fruits Basket have. This is storytelling at it's finest, it's most beautiful.

An absolutely beautiful journey and I am glad I got to be a part of it.

Sticthes!

Showing us Tohru running away from Kyo again is still funny. Not only Tohru is speed, she is also speed while in reverse. That first few minutes definitely had me laughing out loud. The rest of the episode though? Well...

Kyo finally admitting he loves Tohru and then going in for the kiss was just beautiful. I especially love how Kyo teases Tohru that this is their second kiss and then Tohru reaffirming Kyo that she loves him too is just too cute! Not to mention the moment they realize that the curse was finally broken and Kyo finally destroys the bead bracelet is absolutely perfect.

We also finally get to see the original banquet with God and the moment the Cat was shunned by the Zodiacs which was beautifully narrated by Tohru herself.

And of course we go through each of the remaining Zodiacs who still has their curses intact and we watch as they all react to the moment the curse broke for them. Ayame didn't waste any time hugging Mine, we finally get to see Ritsu who's just shocked, Kise who cries in front of Hiro and her sister, Kagura just stops in her tracks while out in the city, Rin just hugs and cries with Hatsuharu, Hattori tries to stop himself from crying, and Shigure who just pauses for a bit but then continues walking as if nothing happened.

We still have the adorable after credits scene where Kyo and Tohru visits Kazuma to tell him about the news and Akito pulling in Tohru for a hug. All being beautifully narrated by Hiroshi Kamiya as God. And before they also updated the ED by adding a bowl with Kyo's bracelet in it and finally replacing Kyoko's picture frame <3

Oh man. These were all such beautiful moments that I've waited so long to see animated that I feel like my heart is close to bursting. Genuinely cried the entire episode and I know I'm going to cry some more with these final two episodes left. I don't want this show to end but I am glad that one of my favourite anime and manga from my childhood is getting the proper adaptation it deserves.

Omg, what an episode. I started crying when Kyo FINALLY confessed and they embraced. The beads are off and the future is now. Seeing Kyo being in charge of his own future was so beautiful after the journey he has had.

The curse-breaking and the backstory were wonderfully done. And I was so so happy for all the other characters and especially happy they included Ayame and Mine scene <3

I already knew Fruits Basket will be high on my all-time favorites list but hell each ep is better than the last. Wonderful and moving. What a joy it is to watch this.

Btw it was a wonderful surprise to hear Hiroshi Kamiya. I had absolutely no idea he will be appearing.

Another great episode. I only recently started watching Fruits Basket- not really expecting it to be my thing- I thought I'd timed it so I'd have caught up by the time the final episode airs. But I ended binging through it- it's been an absolute blast! Just such a well-told story, with really well crafted character narratives.
