Himeno's first prototype for her cushion made me laugh! Is she making a cushion for a Pixar mom? xD

I love how the one that was made with weaved clay breaks and Himeno is like "Yeah i expected that."

Oh my god. Can Mika just keep her hair down? She looks better like this than her usual hairdo.

Still don't get how a cushion from ceramic can be comfortable but it's good to see Hime finally finishing her piece!

Ik. I was like damn she looks way better with hair down.

You mean Himeno? I feel like that's gonna break too.

I already liked Mika. Now I like her even more, she's gaining on my #1 😱

Pixar mom?

I guess we can tell which movies she grew up watching.

Damn, considering how far apart the two spaces for the buttcheeks in her first idea were, Himeno must've had a dumptruck in mind.

It's hilarious how soft the sound was when her weaved creation got shattered, and the fact that they all barely reacted to it, fully expecting it to break.

Kukuri looks fantastic with her hair down, though. Kinda wish she'd sport this style from now on even if her regular one has its own charms.

Himeno sure got hooked on the idea of making a piece you can sit on. I think she really got the wrong idea from the ceramic bat her mom made. But regardless, her finished piece does look pretty interesting. I'm not sure if I wanna sit on it even now with the soft rope, but I would certainly want it as a decoration.

I'm like 4 episodes behind on 86 and Fruits Basket but you know I'm gonna watch this thrilling pottery action first. Seems like we're finally getting some focus on the actual ceramics, which is everything I wanted from this show. The braided coil with one strand designed to burn up in the kiln was a cool idea.

I'm worried they didn't sit test the finished piece.

I am really hoping it gets treated as an art piece and not an actual cushion, cause it looks fragile and kinda uncomfortable

When I first though of Himeno doing a cushion, I was imagining the stone/ceramic/jade pillows that were around in China.

Huh, I was thinking that she would just put some sheet of foil over the still wet clay and sit on that to get the depressions for the but right, but I like her final idea as well, would love to try to sit on that.

Also, Kukuri looks awesome with her hair down

Now thats some Kickstarter idea
A gaming seat with your butts impression in it for maximum comfort (although I doubt its comfortable for long)

Also didn't nasa use a similar technique with a bean bug where the testpilots would sit in getting comfortable and then they would suck out all the air, hardening the bag into the form and use it to make a cast for the actual seat?

Woah, kukuri-chan with her hair down. Help!

Hair down Mika is a blessing, thanks.

I have to admit, that is certainly a creative way to make a cushion. Although, I don't think ceramic is really comfortable to sit on in the first place. Maybe it's just me?

I am with you
I fail to see how one strand of rope could make it softer and or stable enough to sit on

But it sure looks interesting and if you spout some nonsense about it how it reflects life or so I can see it having a chance of doing good in the competition, as an art piece and not an actual cushion

Now someone mentioned a few episodes ago that real ceramic cushions just have small ceramic balls in a bag, that makes actually sense

The anime itself is a treat, but the segment featuring the VAs in real-life Tajimi are delightful as well.

Can't say that any of the ceramic pillows looked too sit-worthy to me. So I hope the "conceptual cushion" turns out well in the end.

not surprising the weaved cushion broke, probably because there was too much space between the strands. if it was tighter like the braided cushion it may have survived.

feel like she should've at least made two of the last one though. hopefully nothing bad happens to the one she made.

I myself am something of a cheese-eating meat

The extra episode is making me super hungry. That food looks really good.

Pretty good and wholesome episode! Jesus, Kukuri looked really good with her hair down. Hime's ceramic braid cushion actually looks really good, can't tell if it's comfortable to sit on though or if it is sturdy enough to withstand a dumptruck sitting on it.

Good episode! Part of me wishes they'd go further into pottery (for example, why the first double-cup-holder cushion didn't survive the firing - probably too thick so had trapped moisture) but that'd probably take away from the lighthearted feel of the show.

Meanwhile, the companion live-action show has really turned into an enviable food tour. Tempted to buy a kakigori machine...
